  • ok..;but not great. At Georgetown, and to some extent the entire Medstar system has some of the worst communications I have ever seen in a medical setting. Failure to return calls, staff that in many cases doesn't even know which doctors work there. etc, etc, etc. also some doctors have very narriow understanding

  • Their doctors are excellent. I visit several doctors here for most of my medical concerns. They doctors and facility are excellent. Staff is quite friendly too. I have had any billing problems yet either. Happy to go to GW MFA.

  • Dr. Safran seems to be really concerned about your health. After your exam, he doesn't rush you out of his office because he takes the time to listen to you if you have any concerns or issues that need to be addressed.  (This is why I love this doctor.)   If necessary, he calls you at home or work to give you the results of your tests and if necessary, he will refer you to someone else within the practice if you need a procedure done that he feels another colleague is better at doing.  I would recommend this practice to anyone who is looking for a great doctor.

  • This practice is simply wonderful! All of the providers strive to make you feel like a person, rather than a number.  They are always friendly, incredibly compassionate, and very laid back.  This practice won't feed into your fears or concerns about pregnancy; instead, they alleviate them! Dr. Crowther was so loving and kind during delivery and just took control of the situation.  I never for a moment felt anything other than incredible gratefulness that she was my doctor.  The office always runs on time. Would recommend this group to anyone and everyone. Love, love, love Dr. Crowther and the other doctors/midwives here.

  • In my entire life, I have never been more hurt or felt less cared for than during my time at NVPWomen.  It all started, when I first became pregnant. I went in to get a test for HCG levels.  The three different doctors communicated different messages back to me, regarding the levels.  After one of the female physicians told me everything was fine after a repeat test several days later, I still got a call from Dr. Elliott, telling me to come in because he was concerned.  Perhaps it was his bedside manner, perhaps it was his overly conservative treatment, perhaps it was pregnancy hormones, or maybe some combination, but he had me in tears for 20 minutes in their office for no good reason.   This brings me to point #1:  the doctors here are not a united medical team. They often don't communicate with each other and have differing levels of concern over various medical issues. Don't be surprised if one doctor tells you one thing, and another tells you something different.
Fast forward to 24 weeks. I had been seeing Dr. Borelli and Dr. Prather since that appointment with Dr. Elliott.  Out of the blue, Dr. Elliott calls me, asking if we still had relationship issues.  He then commences to tell me that I would be discharged as a patient, and I had 30 days to find a new provider.  Never in my life have I felt more abandoned by a doctor.  Six months pregnant, happy with the care from Dr. Borelli and Dr. Prather, and out of no where I am told I have to find a new group.  Both the tone and the manner in which he conveyed the message were cold, arrogant, and appalling. There was no discussion that included me, just a unilateral decision by him, as senior partner of the group, to discharge me.  It seemed quite clear to me that he didn't want to take the time patch the relationship, and somehow, his own blunder as a physician in making me upset way back at 6 weeks of pregnancy now came back to haunt me. This brings me to point #2:  Dr. Elliott treated me with little to no regard for my feelings. During a time of need, he turned his back on me, labeling me as the problematic patient. I still don't know what I did to deserve this.
As a final and unrelated point, I want to highlight the cockiness and rudeness of the medical staff at the practice.  Several times I caught receptionists and other admin trying to answer MEDICAL questions about pregnancy, pregnancy safe products, or prescriptions. Point #3:  The admin staff acts like they are healthcare professionals, when really, they are admin staff. They will also refuse to schedule appointments when you need them and act like they hold the keys to the kingdom.  At one point during my pregnancy, when there was a minor complication and I needed help in coordinating with a laboratory for further testing, one of the admin staff actually said to my face, "My job is not to fix this for you."
I can't count the number of times this practice has upset me to the point of tears.  Having them discharge me, was, in retrospect, one of the best and only good decisions they made on my behalf.
Oh, and Dr. Elliott runs late. Expect to wait up to an hour, if not more. Icing on the cake.

  • Have been seeing her for about 15 years. Very few of the doctors in the practice accept any insurance. They will submit for you but it is up to you to chase after your insurance company for actual reimbursement.

  • He is the best doctor in the world. He is a very knowledgeable doctor. He is very compassionate. I was going through a lot of stress at the time and he had to break a lot of bad news to me. It was really a tough time for me because I didn't know I had this disorder. He diagnosed it and he helped me with my surgeries and post surgery. He has been my doctor ever since. I wish I would have found him earlier because he has really helped my health. He has improved my life greatly. He is one of the best doctors I've ever interacted with. He is pleasant. I have contacted him outside the office and he has always gotten back to me. He is a really overall great doctor and I am really impressed with his service. He would be a great doctor for invito. He is very in demand but they are very clear on what he has available for appointments and he is pretty good. The staff is great.

  • I really love Dr. Schaffel. She has been my provider for four years now. I had some health issues that she helped me work through and referred me to appropriate specialists. I continue to use her for my annual exams and will use her to deliver. She really takes the time to talk to you and work through any issues you have. I have never had a doctor spend as much time listening and talking to me about my health. She is more expensive then most providers but totally worth it.

  • The Bethesda office is brand new and I actually enjoyed going there for my appointments. Nurses and doctors at this location are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Dr. Marko was always punctual and also very responsive via email when I had questions off hours.

  • These guys are great. I thoroughly enjoyed this visit to the Doctor. They were all very pleasant: from the front desk attendant to the OB GYN. They listened to me and didn't judge my life style choices and listen to my concerns. When choosing a new birth control method they gave me all the information and did not try and push one over the other, giving me room to make my own decisions. Dr. Anne Kirshardt was very helpful and kept me updated of all the test she was going to run. They also have this cool online portal that allows you to see your test results as soon as they get them and make appointments and send emails to the doctors. Highly recommended. Will be making this my regular OB GYN.
