  • From my experience, Heather is expertly suited to handle any discussion, any situation. She is so thoughtful and wise and uses humor and levity to lighten up your perspective. She's like a Yoga guru or your cool aunt who's tried everything and she gives expert advice-- kinda like Patti Smith. Her style of therapy is very different from some psychologists I've been to and was very effective in bringing me out of a mental rut and back to my normal self. And I always left feeling better, because we were able to work through some negative habits and she gave me homework to do. She doesn't just sit there and stare at you, she talks to you, she opens up, and because of that warmth and authenticity, she is very easy to trust and it's easy to respect her judgement. I have recommended her to several close friends because I believe in her ability to calm the mind and open the heart.

  • Heather was great! She listened intently to us as we explained our journey to being engaged. In every session we left with tangible techniques to use in order to have clear and honest communication between each other. I would recommend Heather to anyone!

  • She is absolutely horrible.  She charged me $300 for an emergency marriage therapy session and spent 10 minutes rambling on about how the world is coming to an end because of global warming and disease.

Also, when she saw my review, this was her response; think, do you think this person is capable of giving you advice on how to handle difficult situations?

"I know you would like revenge on someone, but please consider withdrawing your nasty review. It's deeply offensive to me.  I tried my best to give you honest, clear, and highly competent help.   Do you really want to ruin my reputation?  We've clarified that I did nothing wrong.  In fact, you were very pleased with our session, as I recall.  I will need to say all of this in response- and more.  It is a very unfair review."

  • She is perceptive, thoughtful, and direct.  I find the sessions incredibly helpful because I come to better understanding of myself and of the mind-body connection.  In between sessions, she often gives with homework assignments to think about so I am able to reflect upon certain questions and come back to her at the next session to follow up.  All in all, her style suits me well and I would recommend her to others.

  • Heather is a wonderful and thoughtful therapist. She was open and kind, a great listener and someone with insight. She not only listened she gave us tools to try out, and she gave good guidance and feedback. We have recommended her to our friends and colleagues. She is a gifted healer with deep experience in multiple approaches.

  • We have been going to see Heather for many months now. She is an experienced and adroit therapist, skillfully guiding us through issues that have arisen in our relationship. She is non-judgmental, patient, calm, and a good listener. She maintains a comfortable and safe atmosphere, which helps with any nerves one might feel in seeking counseling. She is highly recommended.

  • They provide excellent service. They provide it on a sliding scale so it makes excellent service available to people who might not be able to afford it. I'ts first-class service, and it's outstanding service. I give them A's all across the board.

  • Ms. Sloan helped us to deal with communication obstacles so that we could get to greater clarity about our issues and to collaborate more effectively.  Once we were able to communicate better it was much easier to deal with logistics and problem solving.  Ms. Sloan is warm, engaging, very skillful, intuitive, practical, and down-to-earth.  I recommend her highly---not just for couples but for individual work, too.   Several friends of mine have seen her and all speak highly of her.

  • I was depressed after the birth of my son. Dr. Tracy helped me understand the pressures of the new life I was now living, and how many of my old life habits and structures were not working for me any more. I gained in understanding, peace, confidence, and power over the four years. Dr. Tracy gave me the tools to continue to understand my inner life, so that now two years after leaving therapy, I still have the skills to understand and deal with issues in life as they arise. I highly recommend her.

  • A complete waste of time, well-being and to a lesser degree money. My first concern was the location of the office. It is located in a rather questionable section of Washington, DC with respect to crime and is situated off the main street down an alley behind a Public Storage facility. The adjacent offices belonged to organizations that dealt with ex-offender services. As an Attorney and an ex-Police Officer, I found this location to be unsettling to say the least. The ubiquitous notices posted on the wall stating "No Cash Keep On These Premises" did not help. My second and most important concern was that Mr. Swain turned out to be extremely unprofessional to the point of being petty and disrespectful. I got the impression that he was not accustomed to having a patient who was as educated, or in my case, more educated than he was since he held only a Masters Degree in Psychology and I had a Juris Doctorate in Law. He actually mocked my progressive perspectives on social culture in general, such as my use of the Internet, and behaviors within the black community in particular. After about four sessions, I cancelled my next appointment via voice mail. Mr Swain, having realized his error, called and left a voice mail trying to justify his behavior in our last session. Ironically, I chose him because he was an African American male and I naturally thought he would understand the issue that another AA professional has to experience daily in America. That was not the case and it reminded me of the adage that "Just because you are my colour does not mean you are my kind"
