  • The haulers were professional and timely. I purchased my big deal on Friday afternoon and received a message via Angie's List within 20 minutes with a scheduled date within 30 minutes of my purchase. I was given a two hour window- 8-10am. I received a call 20 minutes before 8am saying they were en route. The haulers moved quickly but dropped paint on my garage floor and tracked footprints down my driveway without informing me. I spent the better part of 1.5 hours trying to remove the paint. Also, they left some nails on the ground and did not take a huge wood pile leftover from a landscaping project?I blame my husband for that. I paid $209 for a big deal and although I didn't have a lot of trash I did have big cabinets that needed to be removed thus I had to pay an additional $241 for the job. I would use them again but would be more clear about what needed to be removed and would inspect my home prior to them leaving. I would encourage the company to consider having the project manager or whoever is in charge of the job do a pre and post walk through with the homeowner especially considering I paid extra.

  • Git Rid of It was very responsive.  I called in the morning and they were able to schedule pickup before noon.  They were not only on time, they were a bit early, which suited me fine.  They quoted a reasonable price on the spot.  Tammy and her assistant were quick and efficient.  I had the trash consolidated behind my house, so it was relatively easy for her to estimate the volume and to quickly take it.  On the other hand, my driveway was too narrow for their truck, so they had to carry the trash from the back of the house out to the street.  They did a great job and I would definitely use them again.  I highly recommend this company.

  • Laurie took care of a task for us that we were dreading having to do, and made our lives much easier in doing so. My husband is the executor of his mother's estate, but he found the task of disposing of those of her possessions we could not keep very emotionally difficult. Laurie took that burden off his shoulders.
    Laurie came and inventoried the items for sale, set up the house for the estate sale, and staffed the sale in a way that made us feel comfortable with having strangers going through the house for the sale. She was very knowledgeable in her assessment of the items for sale, and gave good practical advice on pricing things that was proven correct during the sale. She did a great job of advertising, highlighting those items most likely to bring people in to take a look at the sale.
    After the sale, Laurie was very conscientious about making sure the house was completely cleaned out and ready for the final sale of the home. We did not have to come back in to do any followup cleaning, which, again, was a big relief.
    Overall, Laurie was incredibly professional and really provided a very high value for the money we spent on her services. She communicated well on where things stood throughout the process, which helped because we do not live in DC and did not want to be constantly driving into town to figure out what was going on.  We would have happily just paid her to take care of cleaning out the house, and instead she sold enough to cover the costs of her service and return money to the estate beyond that! It was so much less of a hassle than it would have been to move items out to a traditional auction house (and then have to do the remaining cleanup ourselves), and we think that the money made for the estate in the end was equal to or more than it would have been if we had taken that approach.

  • I called the company three times, once for information, once to place an order, and once to schedule a pickup. All three times the customer representatives were friendly and helpful. When I called for info the rep patiently described the size of the dumpster, and even looked up our house on a map to see where we could fit it. When I placed an order the rep talked me through the permit process to place the dumpster on the street, and I received my receipt by email shortly after I hung up on the phone.
    On the scheduled day, I received a call notifying me the dumpster was on its way. When it arrived, the driver asked where I wanted it and lined up it nicely with the stairs. He then exited the truck and opened the dumpster for us, which was a nice courtesy. I read other reviews about how clean the dumpsters are, and while this wasn't particularly important to me, it's true the dumpster was absolutely spotless, way cleaner than my car (both inside and out), which was parked nearby.  
    We filled the whole thing up in a day or two and I scheduled a pickup for a few days later when I couldn't be there. We had a tarp over the top to keep out rain water, which I figured was a loss. However, the driver took the time to pull it off, roll it up, and put it on our porch.
    To summarize, I would highly recommend them for your next project.

  • I've been trying to get a copy of the contract or at least some information from them since March 20, 2013, and so far, I have no copy of the contract, and no one will call me back.  They say its "lost" or "mislayed"  I called "Walter" again today, who is the person I was told would take care of this.  I've called him several times, and only last week he said that he thought someone else was going to take care of this, but that he'd get back to me. I left a message this morning, and I still haven't received an answer.  In fact at 9 am, no one in management was in the office.  Today I also made several calls to the owner of the company, who I was told usually came in at noon.  Its now 1:30, and he's still not in.  Whoever answered the phone told me that he doesn't ever tell them when he's coming in, but if he does, its usually by noon.  How do you run a company that way, when your employees have no idea where you are.
    Just to be clear, our prior condo management company could not find a copy of the contract either.  
    As far as the service itself, our dumpster had a broken wheel for weeks (2nd time), and because the driver drug the dumpster, there are gouges in the pavement.  Pickups were inconsistent and no one would ever alert us if there was going to be a delay.  
    Our Board agreed to cancel their service (since we apparently don't have a contract anyway) and we now have a new company who seems very eager to keep us happy.  I would never recommend VHI under any circumstances.

  • The entire job went absolutely splendidly. We were cleaning out of our basement years of miscellaneous junk, furniture, books, magazines and such, all intermingled with valuable items from ancestors. Gabriel arrived on time and was personally present for longer than I expected.  He offered extremely helpful general and specific advice beyond what I imagined would normally be called for. Equally important, he arrived, picked up and carted the dumpster off on time only a few days later, so there was very little time for "volunteer" additions from others. He demonstrated expertise and familiarity with his equipment, and to save us time and effort went so far as to ask in advance for a photo of the access, so he could be sure his dumpster and trailer would fit and fit our needs. He and his efforts were far better and more than we expected, and we could not be more pleased in every respect. We give him the highest possible marks in every category, and would (and probably will) gladly use him again.

  • The experience was very good overall. We had seven dumpster swap outs. There was only one time where I had an issue with them coming out on time; the technician decided to come out in the afternoon instead of the morning due to traffic without a phone call, but other than that everything went perfectly.

  • Gabriel spent a lot of time on the phone prior to the work going over the job with me, and making suggestions on other parts of our overall yard project. He provided an estimate that turned out to be right on target and quite reasonable. Despite some setbacks (like getting a late start on the first day, being under-manned, and having a jackhammer burn out), he and his crew worked hard and got things done in a timely manner.
