Very well. The owner provided me with an estimate within a few days of my calling them, and left it in my mailbox. After I called to schedule the service it was a matter of about a week before he complete the work. Our driveway looks good and he thanked me for the order and thanked me after I paid him

The quality of the work on our driveway is horrendous. We have nothing good to say about Francesco Suppa, Jr. The quality of both his work and his customer service is extraordinarily poor.
Update:  I called Francesco Suppa Sr. at the end of May.  Within a few days he sent Jr. to fill on the holes on the driveway.  While I greatly appreciate Mr. Suppa's responsiveness, the problems I had with the son's work on this occasion were:  a) he left without putting anything at the foot of the driveway to prevent a car from driving over the new stones.  No one drove over it but if someone had I imagine it would have ruined the driveway and caused significant damage to a car; and b) when we spoke to Francisco Jr. lst year he said he needed to use hot mixed asphalt which is apparently much more durable than cold mixed asphalt.  I believe he used the cold stuff.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend Hamden Paving to do any large or complex residential jobs. They gave a good quote and agreed to how the driveway would be graded for drainage, and assured me they would check this several times during the construction process. They then installed it differently than we'd discussed, leading to it draining to the sides rather than down to the street and therefore forming an unsightly drainage ditch alongside the driveway that continually washes away the driveway base when it rains, so the edges of the driveway are already crumbling. In addition, there are numerous seams in the asphalt and a seam/ridge across the middle through which grass is already sprouting from beneath. (But I admit I never specified that there should be no seams or ridges--never occured to me that I would have to). The footprint of the driveway is smaller than the original, which I suppose I should have realized and pointed out during construction but I did not. During construction I noticed a 4 foot area of mud instead of the crushed stone base that was elsewhere--I contacted Hamden Paving 3 times about this, twice in written notes, and they just told me it was fine, and proceeded to lay the asphalt over the mud in this area. I raised my concerns during and immediately after the construction. Hamden Paving's responses: "the driveway is perfect", "the ridge is nothing, it will disapear in 6 months" (of course it has not), "we are not responsible for the rain", "we have never had a single complaint before", "I'm not sending my crew back to Woodbridge, it's too far." Of note, there are no puddles that form on the driveway itself, so that at least is good. During the quote, we discussed using soil to make the new driveway level with the lawn but Hamden Paving forgot to mention this would cost $800. I think this was a simple miscommunication. I was not expecting perfection, but I did expect Hamden Paving to correct the drainage problem since it undermines the integrity of the driveway. They refused to even acknowledge the problems, and so would not fix them.

This is one of the best contractors I have ever hired. Their price is very fair, they are very punctual and reliable. They even did little extra things that came up without an additional charge.

The crew knew what they were doing, and worked very professionally. Nick was on hand, overseeing the project. So far I am pleased with the work.
