    Gove Restoration LLC
We've worked with Gove Restoration in the past and are very satisfied repeat customers. Matt and his crew are dependable, honest and knowledgeable. This job unearthed more old rot than expected. Warren was up front about what was found and ensured everything was corrected in the new work. His attention to detail is amazing - a truly skilled craftsman. The job turned out better than we anticipated!

    Safe Roof Cleaning, LLC
Went Very well. They were punctual and professional. After they left and everything dried, noticed weep hole streaks on the siding and soap residue on the dark deck. They came back without hesitation and rinsed everything clean. It looks great!

    Gove Restoration LLC
Gove Restoration is one of the best decisions we have ever made, especially for such a big and important jobthat you have to live with, day in and day out! If you are looking to have something done, big or small, Gove Restoration probably did it for usbecause we had them do everything. We recommend Gove Restoration 1000%. They earned the highest possible rating from us! We acquired a solid but run-down mid-1960s split-level in Wethersfield. Other than essential maintenance, the house was not touched in 50 years. It was hard to imagine anything good coming out of that dingy house. Matt Gove and his brother Adam of Gove Restoration, with help from Dave Gove and their father, completely transformed that split-level, inside and out, into a spacious, modern, bright and airy, high-quality, insulated, comfortable, far from ordinary home, with state-of-the-art wiring and technology! The house feels good. Everything is rock-solid, built to last!!! Seven key factors that clearly distinguish Matt and Adam Gove, Gove Restoration from the rest: 1. Matt Goves honesty speaks for itself in his extensively detailed proposals. Every aspect of the job was discussed and broken down in detail and costeven before we signed up. We discussed a budget, and we knew exactly what we would be getting, the exact material that would be used, and how much it would cost. We could have chosen any material, roofing, siding, windows, etc. that we wished. We preferred to rely on Matt for recommendations. Based on his tried and true experience, Matt provided us with many alternatives/options/at various price points. He also provided manufacturers websites for reference. Sometimes opportunities present themselves during a renovation and changes are advantageous. Matt always provides detailed change orders with alternatives. When Gove Restoration starts your job, they work on it exclusively until it is done. We never had to worry that we overlooked something. Matt thinks of everything! He made everything easy and worry-free. Another thing to keep in mind is that Gove Restoration truly specializes in restoration as well. We discussed every element in the house and decided whether to restore or replace. 2. We met several top-rated contractors about our renovation project, and truly studied their work to the smallest detail. We were completely impressed with Matt Gove, the quality and aesthetic of their work, his many solid ideas to improve look and functionality, the detailed proposal and fair price. His ideas were not just talk. He had already done everything he described, and we could see his work. 3. Impeccable craftsmanship in every little up-close detail is just as important as the big picture; if you have one without the other, you have nothing. Gove Restoration far exceeded our very high expectations and was everything we could ever want, or dream of, for this or any future renovation project. Matt and Adam Gove and their father are master carpenters. The craftsmanship is perfection. Matt Gove worked on the networking system with his brother Dave, who is an IT specialist and acted as a consultant for the job. They designed a unified, clean, wiring system for state-of-the-art technology throughout the house. Without exaggeration, they thought of everything! Everything is done right! Everything is solid. Everything is perfect! Really. 4. Design: Without Matt Goves expertise and design talent, the house would just be the same 60s house with cosmetic fixes. With just a few very carefully thought-out tweaks to the design of the 60s split-level, Gove Restoration converted the exterior to a clean modern craftsman look. Although it fits nicely in the neighborhood, it stands out as the nicest looking home in the area. They did the same with the interiorit no longer feels like a 60s split-level! We wanted a front door area with no windows for complete privacy. To add light and a modern element, Matt put in the most perfect small windows up near the roof line above the door area. This little change created a very comfortable feel inside and a modern look outside. With minimal alteration, they made excellent use of wasted space, enlarged closet space, added precious space to the master bath, and made other rooms seem brighter and larger. They converted a summer sunroom into a heated/air-conditioned extension of the house, with a nice-looking secure storage area below. The exterior stairs leading to the sunroom were replaced, and we were amazed to see that Matt created a very attractive hidden space under the stairs to store those big plastic garbage bins! The interior and exterior elements and all the little details work together. The interior is fresh, bright, and modern. Matt Gove, his father and brothers put a lot of thought into this house and worked on it as if it was their own. 5. Because we lived out of state during this process, it was important to hire someone we could trust to do the job without daily supervision, and someone with excellent design talent. Matt Gove guided us through every decision throughout the entire project (and kept us informed every step of the way.) I would like to say again--Without his expertise and design talent, the house would just be the same 60s house with cosmetic fixes. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our focus was diverted away from the project. With complete peace-of-mind, we could rely on Gove Restoration for all the finishing details, including all paint colors, window treatments, picking out the dining room light fixture, working with Cox, the alarm company, etc. He was happy to help in any way possible. He took care of everything! (Because of his interior decorating skills, and because we value his opinion, and we like him, we plan on taking Matt furniture shopping with us.) What he accomplished with that house is beyond anything we, or anyone else, could have imagined. Gove Restoration transformed that house into a fabulous, WOW home! 6. The Gove family are truly the finest people one could ever meet and work with. This was a huge project! But they made it so easy, and stress-free! We communicated easily and freely by txt msg, emails, phone calls, numerous txt pictures, and exciting visits! Through this project, we and our families have gotten to know the Gove family, who we now consider to be a part of our family! 7. When Matt needed to use a specialty sub-contractor (electrical, plumbing, furnace installation, generator, roofer, etc.), he knows, and used only the best people in the business. Even though he uses the best people, he still supervises every aspect very closely. He doesnt take anything for granted. If it is not exactly right, it is re-done! Matt graciously agreed to pick out and order all of the window blinds for the entire house. When the window blinds came in, they were all cut just a little too short width wise. Any other contractor would not have noticed or taken the easy way out. Matt Gove made them replace all of the blinds! This is what makes Matt Gove, Matt Gove! This is what makes a job perfect! Other examples: After the Living Room Ceiling was finished/painted, the sun decided to shine a certain way. Matt did not like what he saw, so they re-sanded, etc. and repainted the sprawling ceiling. We asked Matt to select paint colors for us. He didnt think the colors in some of the rooms that he painted were exactly right, so he made subtle color changes and re-painted rooms until they were perfectwho else would do that? The paver sidewalks werent lining up exactly as planned. He had them realign the sidewalks until they were rightsame thing with the patio. The thought of renovating that split-level was overwhelming. Gove Restoration made it all easy and very enjoyable. Thanks to Gove Restoration our old house is better than new! We know exactly what went into the renovation of our home and that our money was well spent. We know that we have solid quality. We know that we can call Gove Restoration anytime!

Horrible. Buyer be ware of this contractor. He is attempting to take my money without providing services. Contractor informed me he would honor the deal past expiration date, however he has not returned any of my messages to schedule work. I've reached out to Angie's list for assistance. Angie's list said the contractor would perform services if I paid another $1,499. I'm still unsure how or if I will get my money back from this contractor. This contractor could try to rip you off too!!!!!

Very well. Matt Gove was an efficient pleasure to work with. His employees were polite and respectful not only to us but to our property also. They arrived daily at approximately 8:30 and would leave around 4 Monday thru Friday. They always stored away; tools and equipment as well cleaned up the work area. The work in every respect was done precisely to all measurements and requests. Additional footings were poured for two added support posts under the stairway and one for an additional fourth exterior post were the older deck only had three posts. Our review of all the work was very satisfying not only to our eyes but also it was built so solid and sturdy. Surely it is going to be around for many years and I wont have to stain it. Everyone who has seen it has the same comment, "Beautiful".

This is not my first experience with Gove Restoration and I have additional work scheduled by them. They are on the high end of pricing, but the "you get what you pay for" saying is apt. They also use quality products like Benjamin Moore paint and are knowledgable about changes in construction product technology.  E.g., because of a newer primer technology and two top coats, I expect to get 3-5 more years out of this paint job than the last (which Gove also did and which held up well). They understand historic houses (I live in Old Wethersfield) and are able to navigate around and often anticipate the idiosyncrasies of old houses.  They understand the expectations of the Historic District Commission. They also have subcontractor contacts for work that is better done by someone with a particular expertise, such as plumbers, electricians and insulation contractors and tested resources for items likes doors and windows. I trust them in my house when I am not here.  The Goves and their crew are knowledgable, respectful, clean and they do not smoke. They are willing to answer one's questions and discuss pros and cons of various options in a way homeowner's can understand. They have all the right tools, which contribute to a truly professional job. They are thorough, neat and follow through.  Be aware that they make estimates, not bids. My experience is that their estimates are based upon few glitches and that with old houses, glitches are the norm. Also, I find that when one gets into a project, there are often add ons that one did not originally consider.  So, do not be surprised if the final cost turns out to be 20% or more over the estimate.

    BROWN & MICHAUD BUILDERS
Completely satisfied with Bob's work and that of the subcontractors he used for tiling, sheetrocking, plumbing and electrical. Was prompt in providing an estimate of work and completed job in time frame specified. All contractors were punctual, neat and respectful of us and our home. Would definitely hire Bob Brown again.

    Gove Restoration LLC
The craftsmanship and professionalism by Gove Restoration far exceeded my expectations. We had received quotes from several local contractors and we chose Gove Restoration over the rest. Our decision was not based on price as the Gove quote was higher. However, Matt Gove gave us a very detailed estimate showing the scope of work required and it was clear that they pay attention to every detail.
With work underway, we were given daily updates on the progress. Unlike previous contractors we used, the Gove team showed up promptly at 8 am and went straight to work. At the end of the day they cleaned up the mess and job site was left spotless. The restoration required the replacement of one of the posts due to rot. However, they were unable to find a match and ended up replacing both posts with a similar style to the old ones at no extra cost. Our porch is now complete and looks fantastic. We are extremely happy with our decision to use Gove Restoration..

Overall, the project went very well.  Paul was quick in getting us a free quote, with drawings.  He followed up well via email.  He and his crew were very likeable and professional.  His price was extremely competitive.  The work was top quality and the final project looks great.  I would recommend them to any one looking to build/replace a deck.

Rick always was prompt and gave us an estimate and provided photos of a possible style of porch that would fit our home's exterior appearance.  We selected Rick's company and he began work about 2 weeks later.  The new porch was completed in about a week and we are thrilled with the entire project.
