He is very nice. He has taken about two months off, so I don't know when he is coming back. I heard he is coming back this month. He has got a really nice staff, and he is usually always on time. It is only a one-doctor office but it is part of the Atlantic Medical Group. His is a small office and part of that. I get the same bill over and over again and I have to straighten it up. His nurses are very nice. They usually have an appointment within three days.

I noticed a problem when I noticed the pharmacy hadn't filled a script Dr. Arvind Shah gave me.  I thought perhaps he had not given it to me at the visit by mistake.  I called and left a message for him.  He called me back.  He said he could not give me another script.  His wording was something like, "How do I know you?re not a drug addict.  I've only just started seeing you."  I thought it was a bit harsh, but I calmly said okay, I?d call the drug store and check to see if they had gotten it and why it wasn't filled.  It ended up being that it was too soon for the script to be filled by the pharmacy.

I think it's fair to say the doctor is abrupt and was insensitive to my feelings.  If I questioned anything about what he said, he would become defensive.  Basically, it's his way and only his way.  There is no room for opinions or suggestions.

The final straw for me came this week.  I was returning to work from short-term disability.  Two days before I was to return to work, he changed the dosage of one of my drugs  back to 50 mgs.  Besides being a supplement to an anti-depressant the drug has the side effect of sleep, which we were using, because I have trouble sleeping.  He initially had me at 150 mg for about five days, but the dosage was too high.  I couldn't wake myself up and was walking into things.  At least that's what my wife tells me :-).  Anyway we had tried the 50 mg before this and it didn't put me to sleep.  Both my wife and I reminded him of that, and he said to use 50 mg and if you don't sleep the first night, get up at your normal work time, then the following night I should be tired enough to fall to sleep.  Well it didn't work out that way.  I didn't get any sleep.  None.  I called my work and told them we had to push the date out because I didn't sleep the night before.  I called the doctor and he had me come in.  He told me that I should have gone to work even though I hadn't slept for two days.  He said he would not fill out the paper work to push the return to work day out one day.  That I would have to tell my employer I was responsible for not getting to work.  He told me to up my medication to 100 mg, which was what my wife and I had suggested two days prior.

The reason he was short with me is because my wife was concerned and voiced her opinion.Throughout my therapy I have been scared and frightened to see Dr. Shah.  In some cases I had to take an anxiety reliever medication to see him.  That's right, taking anti-anxiety medication to see my doctor.

Dr. Arvind Shah is from India.

I've had an awful experience with my therapist. The therapist, Bob Melid, never returned my phone calls or leave any messages.
