Exterior Contractor reviews in Tolland

Chris and the crew at Clean Cut Painters were professional from start to finish. I changed the work I was requesting after the initial estimate and Chris was easy to work with in accommodating my wishes. I attempted to get estimates from a few other contractors and only one other actually returned my calls and showed up despite many promises. It was a breath of fresh air to work with Clean Cut and they did an excellent job.

Very unprofessional. The painter brought his dog and put it in a crate in the middle of my dining room. Let our dog out with his. Used my washing machine without my permission because his dog peed on his drop cloth. My husband works third shift and goes to bed early at 7:30 pm. They were aware of this. On a few occasions they were at our house until 8:30 pm. Used my microwave at 7 pm to heat up his dinner without my permission and proceeded to eat while my husband needed to go to bed. Several times to fix my storm door appropriately. First put it on backward and I demanded they turn it around. Tons of excuses for everything.Paint splattered on my couch, microwave, trash can, door knobs. The owner was willing to please the customer but the workers were not. Left all their tools and paint cans throughout my house on a daily basis. No complaints about the roofers

    • I had contacted the company about a year ago to come inspect and internal chimney. JEO came out and told me that repair was unnecessary. I was impressed by their professionalism at the time so decided to contact them for some outside work.

They came and gave me a quote and informed me that the work I had originally specced out was below their minimum price for a day. We walked around the outside and found other areas to fix. John then included the materials since I was still somewhat below the minimum.
When the crew came out they did all the work requested and were even able to restore several decorative curved pillars on the porch. I was extremely pleased with the work and the speed of the service.
Would definitely use them again for future work.

The Teachers Painting company repainted our colonial in july 2010. They did not provide the lowest bid, but the proposal was meticulous and reflected care and effort. They did not go over initial price, even though they included extras, like repainting all the black hardware. There was considerable mildew and rotted wood on parts of the house; each of these issues was addressed thoroughly. There was a crew of four and each day there was a review of progress. They filled all holes and seams with caulking and filler and applied very good paint- Sherwin Williams - which was expensive, but the contractor insisted. In short, almost 5 years later the house looks excellent! Very happy with their work.

They cleaned up after themselves, and were professionals in every way. It's like they were never here, except for the marvelous work that they left behind! They were outstanding. The price was lower than any other service provider I got estimates from.

Great!  Jim is very busy so you need to allow time for that.  He was wonderful to work with and his crew was extremely friendly and professional.  Jim is very good at getting back to you in a timely manner.  He follows up on everything his crew does to make sure it is done right.  Would highly recommend J Murray Home Solutions to anyone!

Robert gave wonderful service from the very first time he picked up the phone.  He always called back promptly, arranged the timing of the washing around other contractors that would be coming to the house, and got my house looking better than I ever thought it would.

Many of these smaller chimney cleaning operations are ringing the owners cell phone while they're up on a roof, and if you're lucky they may call you back that day. The first business that answered could only get me in on Monday, at a price of $149. I was happy that Guaranteed had a polite and courteous person answering the phones, and I explained that my cap had blown off; we had a rainy weekend ahead of us and she scheduled me for 2-5pm arrival window the next day (Friday). I specifically mentioned that the cap from the previous homeowner seemed flimsy (it's plastic), and that if they needed to replace it that was fine. At 1:30 they called to let me know they were in route and would be there within the hour. At 2:20 Oscar and another gentlemen arrived. They proceeded to do the furnace sweep and inspection, as well as inspect the currently unused but exposed fireplace chimney.
It was at this point I talked with Oscar via phone (I was off site at the time); he told me that during the furnace chimney cleaning they noticed the inside was crumbling, and that I should get a stainless steel insert as it could crumble worse and impede the exiting fumes. He explained that the very top of the furnace chimney cap is also missing and letting moisture in which has deteriorated the inside. They could do this insert for me on the spot in 2-3 hours, for $1800. At this point I brought up the fireplace cap and he said the masonry was crumbling but he would try to see if he could work with the cap I had, which he said was fine. I told him I wasn't going to have him do the sleeve that day but to write an estimate for it and I would review it.
I got a second opinion from another company, and was told that my chimney did not need an insert. Needless to say I wasn't too happy with Guaranteed, and while it took a couple of weeks to complete the work, they went out of their way to remedy the situation. This resulted in A: Two new stainless steel caps on both chimneys, at no charge. And B: They did not cash the check for initial cleaning as well.

The service they provided was beyond what we expected. The job that was done was very satisfactory. The owner was part of the crew that worked on the job and he got his hands dirty as well. He was very professional and he described in detail what he was doing and why he was doing it. He was very hands on and very careful to satisfy the customer. The people that he had doing the work were very efficient. They were at our home between 7 and 8 and they left right at 5 with very minimal breaks each day. They cleaned up after themselves and the work took about six days as the house required minor repairs and scraping of the paint to get the job done. They fixed loose clapboards as well. I do not have any complaints at all.

Totalworks has provided me with the best experience I've had with any tradesmen I have hired.  We have a late 1700's wood sided cape. Lots of old pealing paint much of was lead based.
Ron, the owner gave me complete detales that faced his crew in restoring our siding with the cost for every issue.
Weather permitting , his crew (from 30 miles away) spent 5 days on the job.  They were here by 8:00 every morning -small lunch break- and on the job till 5:00.
His pepole even removed our exterior lighting fixtures ,cleaned, painted, and reinstalled them.
Totalworks completed all aspects of the job and left me with not a scrap of debree
