On 10/12/2015 I had my chimney cleaned and inspected. It was found to have cracked flue tiles. The technician wrote up the details of his findings and I was advised in writing do not use. He also noted that the flue wasn't cleaned succsesfuly .I was provided with a quote to install a liner by the tech. I was told if I call within 24 hours the $200 cleaning would be waived. I was also told I would receive photos of the damage . I never received them. I called the office the next day ,it took until the following Thursday's after several calls for someone to call me back. I spoke to a rep and asked for requote and and small discount. I received a fair adjustment . I stated in my email I wanted to get this scheduled ASAP. I called and left several messages and emails in an effort to give them my business with no response.
On 11/3. I called to speak to a customer service manager, I explained the situation and disappointment in the lack of response . Basic ail I just received a bunch of excuse with very weak apology. And most amazing no attempt to resolve.
Note I was imbursed by my insurance company the next day.

    • I had contacted the company about a year ago to come inspect and internal chimney. JEO came out and told me that repair was unnecessary. I was impressed by their professionalism at the time so decided to contact them for some outside work.
    them
They came and gave me a quote and informed me that the work I had originally specced out was below their minimum price for a day. We walked around the outside and found other areas to fix. John then included the materials since I was still somewhat below the minimum.
When the crew came out they did all the work requested and were even able to restore several decorative curved pillars on the porch. I was extremely pleased with the work and the speed of the service.
Would definitely use them again for future work.

Just moved into our home and wanted a company that would service our two fireplaces and also our pellet stove. Called the Chimney Guys and talked to Bob about our needs and he assured me that they could do the work. Unfortunately, the next available appoint wouldn't be in two weeks. Ok, this is the end of fall, winter is coming; they must be busy....no big deal. Two weeks past and the guy Josh they sent me had no experience with pellet stoves. In fact he hardly had experience with chimneys as well. He kept apologizing telling me he only has 6 months of experience and that we will have someone with more experience to come out in a week. Really?!! Another week after waiting two weeks! I immediately called the Chimney Guys office and told them my frustrations and asked them why would they send me a person with no experience with pellet stoves when I specifically had needs to get my pellet stove serviced? They immediately sent the owner that evening to look at my pellet stove. After an hour of inspection, he told me that our stove needs a part that he would need to order and that he would call us back to schedule the installation. Ok, great, no problem. Then one week past, then a second week, and no call from the Chimney Guys. Finally, instead of waiting for a call I decided to call myself and find out the status. After leaving a message, I immediately get a call from them saying that they could come in to complete the work. I don't know about you, but I hate when I have to followup with a company. I wonder what would happen if I never called? When would I have gotten a call back? Again no big deal, just get them in here and get the work finally done. I'm now sitting here writing this review after an hour of them doing the work because my so called pellet stove that they said was working is not working properly. The best part of the service today is that the two bozos that they sent me had no clue what they were doing. During the three hours that they were here they would get the stove up and running, then it would stop, and then they would fiddle with the wires just totally guessing hoping that if they changed the wire connections that it would work. Then finally when they got the stove running for more than 5 mins. they told me the major issue was a shoddy wire that they didn't have but "I should buy myself and it was easy to install" because they had no time to get the wire because they had two other jobs to do that day. When I handed them my check for $375 for work that wasn't completely done, I knew it was a big mistake. After I'm done here I will be calling my bank and put a stop payment on my check. The moral of the story is do not use these guys unless they send out Gary the owner, or use someone else for your chimney and pellet stove needs.

    UPDATE:

    DEC. 12, 2014

It's been two days since I wrote my review and my home is nice and toasty now that my pellet stove is fixed and running properly. Within 24-hours of writing my review the owner Gary called me, and personally serviced and fixed my pellet stove. During the visit he also took the time to talk to me about my review and took my criticism to heart. It's obvious that Gary is very passionate about his business and wants to do the right thing for his customers. Unfortunately he is plagued with subpar customer service and professionalism. Once he gets this fixed (which I think he will considering his passion for doing the right thing), he will have a successful business. I hope he does, because he deserves it. Will I use them again? I "might" which is huge considering two days ago I swore I would never use them again.

Great job. They gave a very transparent accounting of the cost for materials and labor with a detailed breakout by piece of the materials. Even gave me the option the purchase the materials myself ( I didn't).

Many of these smaller chimney cleaning operations are ringing the owners cell phone while they're up on a roof, and if you're lucky they may call you back that day. The first business that answered could only get me in on Monday, at a price of $149. I was happy that Guaranteed had a polite and courteous person answering the phones, and I explained that my cap had blown off; we had a rainy weekend ahead of us and she scheduled me for 2-5pm arrival window the next day (Friday). I specifically mentioned that the cap from the previous homeowner seemed flimsy (it's plastic), and that if they needed to replace it that was fine. At 1:30 they called to let me know they were in route and would be there within the hour. At 2:20 Oscar and another gentlemen arrived. They proceeded to do the furnace sweep and inspection, as well as inspect the currently unused but exposed fireplace chimney.
It was at this point I talked with Oscar via phone (I was off site at the time); he told me that during the furnace chimney cleaning they noticed the inside was crumbling, and that I should get a stainless steel insert as it could crumble worse and impede the exiting fumes. He explained that the very top of the furnace chimney cap is also missing and letting moisture in which has deteriorated the inside. They could do this insert for me on the spot in 2-3 hours, for $1800. At this point I brought up the fireplace cap and he said the masonry was crumbling but he would try to see if he could work with the cap I had, which he said was fine. I told him I wasn't going to have him do the sleeve that day but to write an estimate for it and I would review it.
I got a second opinion from another company, and was told that my chimney did not need an insert. Needless to say I wasn't too happy with Guaranteed, and while it took a couple of weeks to complete the work, they went out of their way to remedy the situation. This resulted in A: Two new stainless steel caps on both chimneys, at no charge. And B: They did not cash the check for initial cleaning as well.

The work was well done. The roof on the house was roughly 27 years old and had evidence of past leaks. It took them a day to remove the old layer from the roof and installed the snow and ice barrier, shingles, flashing and drip edges. During this time they noticed some of the bricks in the chimney were badly damaged. They showed us the damaged bricks and came back on another day to repair the chimney and to do the mesh grid for the gutters and shingles for the shed. We are happy with the quality and are quite glad that the new roof should last at 40 years at least.

Dealing with Jason and his team was a very pleasant experience.  Jay, the chimney mason, was more like an artist with the brickwork.  He took great pride in his work and it showed.  He and his brother and his son were very professional and personable.
After taking down my old chimney he and his team did a great job removing the brick and cleaning up the area.
Following the chimney work, Jason brought in his roofing team.  They began work at 7:30 AM removing two layers of shingles and under layer down to the plywood.  They took great care to protect the plants and flowers around my house. The roofing team worked well together and by 5:30 PM the same day my new roof was installed and the team policed the area with a magnetic tool to pick up any stray nails. Working with Jason and his excellent team felt like working with family. . . . .the only difference was I had to pay them. . . . . . but it was well worth it.    I would recommend M&J Roofing to anyone. . . .and in fact I already have!

They came immediately. They were very thorough. I was very happy with them. They did a nice job. They cleaned up after themselves. They raked up all the debris. They were very careful. I wrote them a letter telling them they did a nice job.

The chimney liner installation went very well. The installer came the next day and worked side-by-side with our furnace company, which was cleaning and replacing parts in our furnace that had been flooded with mud. The chimney installer even waited for the furnace company to make the new connection to make sure everything would work out ok. We had been without hot water for a week at that point and it was restored that day, thanks to the chimney company's rapid response.

This is an honest businessman - he could have easily come over and charged me a fortune for this repair and I wouldn't have known the difference but he didn't, instead he did the right thing.  I would recommend this company to anyone, enthusiastically.
