  • Jess and the electrician with whom she partners were amazing! They repaired some serious electrical issues in my antique (1790's) home. I went from having the whole house breaker flip whenever I ran the AC, or washed clothes, or ran the bath, or my Mac Pro computer, to everything running perfectly. They, and others, thought I'd need a power upgrade, and we were bracing ourselves to have this done. I paid the deposit. Upon further inspection they discovered the multiple issues could be fixed without the upgrade, so they did all the repairs and smaller upgrades and installations (to circumvent future issues which I wouldn't have foreseen but which other "handy" people have told me were really smart), and now I can run both window AC units while washing and drying clothes and pecking at my big computer, simultaneously! They were so honorable they pointed out this option and refunded all of my deposit that wasn't needed for the job--so the job went from $4,000 to $1,000!!!! How's that for great news?! Not only would I hire them again, but I've already passed on their info to several other people!

  • I was very pleased with Don's professionalism with the installation. He was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and friendly. We are very pleased with our new garage door system and thought the price was very fair.

  • In my earlier review I reported that I was very pleased with the work done by The Roofing Store to replace our full roof. However, 4 months later we had our first snowfall. As it snowed, water began running freely through multiple areas in our ceiling! I called The Roofing Store and told Zach (the manager) of the problem, took pictures of the damage, and asked them to look at it asap. They came right over, saw the leaking in progress, took pictures and said they would get back to me. When they got back me I was told that it was "not unusual" to have leaks like this! (With a completely new roof???) I told them that I wanted this problem remedied and I wanted to be compensated for the damage to the ceiling and walls caused by the leaking. I did not hear from them again. A month later I called back and asked them what their plan was. They sent the same inspector, Ben, out again. By now the snow was gone. He climbed up on the roof, looked in the attic, took more pictures of the damage, and said that the owner, Mike, would get back to me. He never did. Several weeks passed and I contacted Zach again. I was informed that Ben had told them "we were all set"! I informed him that we certainly were NOT all set and I was waiting to hear from the owner about the damage and repairs as promised. They never called back. This matter is unresolved - but at this point I am VERY disappointed with the way The Roofing Store has handled this matter - after we paid $12,000 for a completely new roof that leaked during the first snow storm. I have not heard back from them since April.

  • Rocco, the owner, handled our job with total professionalism. There were some delays, mostly due to weather, but the work was done right and the end result is a gorgeous new lawn of beautiful sod. The work was performed over 3 days. Rocco and his team removed the old grass, leveled the yard, and laid the new sod. They worked hard and were very meticulous. Their experience shows! We will absolutely hire them again for additional yard work in the future.

  • Her cleaning is amazing!! I always look in total amazement at how well cleaned my home is and how nice it smells after she has finished. Her prices are also so fair and reasonable for the amount of time she spends and for the high quality work that she does. I am always pleased and have recommended her to many people.

  • The roof took 2 full days to complete with up to 8 men working at once. At the end of each day they did a thorough clean up of the yard and area. The men worked hard and fast and were very professional. I pointed out a couple spots to be adjusted or cleaned and they quickly took care of my concerns. They replaced sheets of damaged plywood where needed and worked around four skylight windows. One of the workers noticed a defect in the vinyl siding (which I was already aware of). He then offered to fix it and quickly repaired the damaged sheet. I was VERY impressed. Our finished roof is beautiful and very well constructed. I am very pleased with the work and would certainly refer The Roofing Store to anyone!

  • I had signed two separate contracts with North American Building Inc., one for siding the house and the other for changing the roof line over the front door.  Construction began on the latter August 12, 2015 and was completed August 20th I was very satisfied with the results. The siding part of the project began on August 19th.  What should have taken approximately 3 to 6 working days as stated in the contract ended up stretching to 56 working days: August 19th to November 4th.  When the siding was delivered it did not match the color I had chosen in the brochure shown to me by NAB (North American Building Inc.).  At my request NAB got a color fan from the siding company and when compared with the colors in the brochure none of them matched or even came close.  It was apparent to me that the color I had chosen did not exist and none of the other colors the company offered in this particular siding style appealed to me.  I ended up having to settle for what they had sent.  I was not happy and felt I had no other recourse.  I believe that NAB should have had the proper color samples when presenting me with color choices and when they saw that the color was off should have at least offered me a discount or some compensation instead of saying to me “We will have to eat the cost”.  The color was not just a slight variation, which they state can happen, but a different color all together. I had expected that once we had gotten the color issue settled the installation of the siding would begin.  Unfortunately the appearance of the siding guy was spotty at best.  There was a perfect weather week where he never showed.  When I was finally able to speak with the secretary at NAB she told me that the guy was on vacation.  I never knew from week to week when or even if he was coming.  I was unable to count on this company to do the job that they stated in the contract they would do in 3 to 6 working days.  I lost all faith and trust in this company but at this point I just wanted it done.   On the final day of the job, which should have been a joyful occasion, I received a bill which was left between my front doors for an additional charge of $806.20 above the cost agreed upon in the contracts.  Glenn Grover (Owner) claimed that the soffit and aluminum for the back porch ceiling was not covered under the contract, this part of the project was completed October 7th. This was installed without consulting me first and according to the contract if it was not covered I was to be informed before any work was done.  Glenn found near the end of the job that he had miscalculated in his measuring of the house for the siding and came up short.  He had to order another box .  I think this was his way of making up the difference and then some.  During subsequent conversations with Glenn about this matter he more than once threatened to have the ceiling materials removed.  Per a conversation with my Lawyer my only option other than taking him to court and losing work was to negotiate with him on the price and I agreed to pay him an additional $250.00.  I feel I was taken advantage of.  The siding appears to have been done well but had I known in advance what it would be like having to deal with these people I would not have chosen this company.  The main reason I went with them was because they had been given a great rating on Angie’s list.

  • I am very pleased with the service and professionalism received by the Flue Doctor.  I called because I thought our fireplace damper was broken and the chimney may be clogged.  Serviceman Justin scheduled an appointment, and called to say he would be a few minutes late. He checked the damper and found that it was not broken, but did need to be adjusted so it seated correctly. He cleaned the fireplace and chimney, and discovered a birds nest and dead bird inside, which he removed.  I was very impressed by what a thorough cleaning he did, and how careful he was to clean up any dirt left behind.  The price was very reasonable and he suggested that I call again in 3-4 years (based on how often we use the fireplace). Very pleasant and not at all pushy to sell his services.

  • I have used Pickles Plumbing probably 10 times in the past 20 years, servicing 3 different homes I have lived in (northern RI and eastern CT). Richard and his son have assisted me with various plumbing problems, large and small, and I have always been pleased with their professionalism, friendliness and fair prices.  Most recently, I called Pickles Plumbing to report a leaking kitchen faucet.  Richard came the next day and replaced the old faucet with a new, more modern fixture.  I was very pleased with the service, as always.

  • Our first delivery came in November 2014 at a cost of $3.99 per gallon.  After the fill-up I called DDLC and asked about their prices.  They said if I was a "new customer" I could get an introductory rate of $3.09 for the first delivery, but the "existing customer" rate was $3.99!  I asked if I could close the old account (in the landlord's name) and open a new account in my name. They said no.  My landlord then called them and asked that the account be canceled so I could open a new account.
In December, DDLC showed up with another automatic delivery (which should have stopped when the landlord closed the account).  Their current oil rate was $3.89 gal.  I told them not to pump until we confirm with DDLC.  I first called 3 other oil companies and each was around $2.60 gal.  I called the landlord and was told that they had indeed canceled the service and we should NOT have gotten any more automatic deliveries.  I then called DDLC and was told that we were still set up for receiving deliveries - at $3.89 (even though rates for other local companies were at $2.60).
I asked for a supervisor and spoke to Lorelei.  She was very harsh and unprofessional and said that there was NOTHING she could do to help me resolve the problem.  I told them not to deliver any more oil to my home and was told that I couldn't make that decision - it was up to the landlord!
I spoke to the landlord again and they assured me that the account with DDLC had been canceled and no more oil deliveries should be accepted.
A DDLC service agreement had also been prepaid until next May 2015.  DDLC will not honor the service agreement if the auto delivery is cancelled.
I had asked DDLC about setting up an auto delivery in my name.  They said that the minimum term is 12 months.  I asked them what would occur if I moved before the 12 months ended?  They said I would have to pay a $350 early cancellation fee!
We will definitely not be doing any more business with DDLC.
