We were totally satisfied. Prompt and professional. Great clean-up work too...almost no sign they were there when we returned home from work, other than the trees and branches that we had cut. I would use them again.

    Christian Tree Service LLC
We were scheduled and ready for quite a few trees to be trimmed back and then the snowstorm hit early that week and our time slot was postponed. We had to be rescheduled 2 weeks later and by then we were getting nervous that another windstorm could cause some damage with tree limbs coming down without having to be trimmed. Cristian was very conscientious and did not leave us high and dry while servicing other customers who booked after us - he did call and promised another date come rain or shine. The date arrived and the crew arrived a little late, so I was concerned that we wouldn't get the full allotment of time - but they did stay later into the evening since we had more daylight. The large tree limbs and some small trees throughout our property were cut as discussed and then some. Although after the bigger limbs were removed, we discovered a few more limbs that we wished were cut as well, but oh well that's for another time as those pose no imminent danger of being blown off this year. All the downed pieces went through the wood chipper and now we got mulch from our own trees! We'll definitely use them again!

Mark Carroll Landscaping & Stone Masonry, LLC
All aspects of the project came out extremely well.  The flagstone patio looks terrific (and drains quite well away from the house and towards the gardens).  We have already enjoyed a few evenings by the fire pit, and the kitchen/grill work-space will no doubt be a staple of our outdoor living for years to come.  The crew, apart from being quite skilled, was also very friendly, timely and neat (they left the property in pretty good shape each day when they went home).  We had used them on a small yard project last fall, and we were definitely happy that we decided to go with them again for this much larger project.  Not sure we have any more significant landscaping/masonry projects in our future, but if we do, Mark will certainly be our first call.

    Stopa Landscaping
Stopa provided a drawing and a written estimate showing what I believed to be a finished landscape. I approved. The estimate was for $2600.  In the drawing, the bushes were clearly shown with heights unto the top of the porch, and to the bottom of our bay window.  The planting was done while I was away, and my wife sent me a finished picture. I was immediately concerned at how barren the landscape looked relative to the rendering.  I told Jeff as much and he basically said we did what was listed in the estimate.
I then did the research I should have done prior to accepting.  As a homeowner, I didn't know the difference between 1, 3 or 5 gallon plants/bushes. Post completion -   I estimated the plant and bushes cost at $700 ($1000 retail, and 30% wholesale discount).  And his labor cost somewhere in the $300 range based on # of workers and time spent.  I estimated $300 in OH costs, leaving a $1300 profit. Had he put in the appropriately sized bushes, the entire project would have felt far more reasonable, and per drawing. I would have been happy, and he still would have had a sizable profit of $1000 or more on an exceedingly simplistic job.
Jeff is a nice guy, and I am sharing only so others can do their homework upfront and realize the amount of profit built into his estimates.  And to know that the drawing may not accurately reflect the finished product.

In general, just poor quality work.  Planted the wrong plants and were hostile when we complained.  They finally realized that they were in error and came back to remove the "mislabeled" plants.  Other plantings were on a daily irrigation schedule and died anyway - no replacement.  Ripping out the entire mess and going back to Oliver's in Fairfield to get the job done right.

    SavATree's Southern Fairfield County
We have used Savatree / Savalawn for many years now. In April of this year, Savatree came and applied arbor kelp to every tree/shrub on our 1 acre property. Unfortunately, we were out of town when they came and when we returned, we found a tag on the door and an invoice for $1500. We called Savatree to let them know that we did not order nor want this service. We were informed by them, that when we had ordered the same service the prior year, we signed an "ever renew" agreement authorizing the service to be performed every year. We had no idea that we had signed up for an annual program when we authorized the work because the sales rep did not inform us and he took the paperwork with him when he left promising to forward us our copy. We are very displeased with this process, the lack of communication and the expense that it cost us.

I was very impressed with their service - they did exactly what they said they would do, at a fair price.  I would highly recommend them, and in fact, I will likely have them back for other work in 2015. They arrived on time for the initial proposal, and again on the day they said they'd perform the work. The crew did an excellent job, and cleaned up all tree debris (and even leaves that were on the lawn prior to their arrival). Stacey, the owner, is very knowledgeable. She completed the original, detailed proposal within minutes, during her first visit to our property. Her office assistant was prompt with follow-ups that included forwarding a copy of their insurance binder. I appreciated the completeness and legibility of the proposal and the ultimate services agreement.  NHS' price was competitive - roughly in the middle of several proposals (or price estimates) I received.  It was reassuring also that NHS had done a lot of work in our our neighborhood.

    Robert Ellis-Arboriculture
My mother had a tree that was dying rapidly.  We called Robert to come and take a look at it, and he came in free of charge.  The tree that was near death, a large acacia tree, came back beautifully.  He also sprayed and treated other trees that came back wonderfully at well. Robert could not have been nicer to my elderly mother or more professional.  I would give him the highest recommendation possible.

    Treetech LLC
Over the years, I’ve learned not to submit positive reviews too quickly – it is amazing how inconsistent most sub-contractors are and how few we contract with for repeat work.  Jimmy Davis from Tree Tech has been improving our property for about 6 years now and is as consistent as an atomic clock.  He just left our property, and again, as always, I marvel at how efficiently he works and how respectfully he treats our property.  My wife supervises all our landscaping services and she is a very capable contractor.  She asked me to note that from a female’s perspective, he is very easy to work with as Jimmy does not treat his female customers with any less respect than male customers.  Because I’m often asked for referrals, it is important for me to know that Jimmy does not take advantage of his customers.  He is not bargain basement nor is he expensive, but he is an exceptional value because he always exceeds expectations.  In a nutshell, here is what I appreciate most about him and his tree service: - He does not price according to the size of your property or assumed wealth.  He does not recommend unnecessary take-downs to fatten his wallet.  On multiple occasions he has saved us hundreds if not thousands by assuring us that large trees we wanted removed were either healthier and stronger than they appeared, or that if they fell would fall where he predicted.  This happened with a 70 foot tree that dropped so perfectly into Town property that we did not have to do a thing other than toss a few logs over the rock wall.  He always completes everything agreed to and in such a way that it seems that he did more than you expected or agreed to (it’s not unusual for him to remind me that he included a tree I forgot about in the price – very honest).  He never drops huge logs, gouging your lawn - all pieces are gently lowered to the ground.  In fact, when our referrals led Jimmy to one very well known picky person we were concerned; not for the referral but for Jimmy.  That referral commented that he was initially perturbed because one look at his lawn and he knew Jimmy never showed up - until he noticed that all the trees he wanted removed were gone, leaving a perfect lawn still in perfect shape and leaving a very difficult person to please a very happy customer.  Without exception, he has received rave reviews whenever we’ve referred him.  In fact, we get phone calls thanking us for referring him (but, he still doesn’t raise prices).  He is a soft-spoken, professional individual that moves like an inexorable force – not rushing around like a madman but never stopping until the job is all done.  His workers are always respectful and never offend with radios or shouting.  He always leaves the job site spotless even when he is returning to finish the next day.  My wife is an avid gardener and loves how he leaves her gardens (and my lawn) unblemished.  He is a licensed arborist, fully insured, with the full compliment of equipment to get the job done (including huge machines).  I simply can’t imagine using anyone else.

They did a great job. We had a bunch of people out to do consultations and they were very professional and prompt. We weren't really sure what we wanted and they came up with some creative ideas. They came up with a great proposal that we thought was very reasonably priced. They did exactly what they were supposed to do. They started the day they were supposed to start. We had some bad weather, which they couldn't help but for the most part they finished when they were supposed to finish. For the most part everything went as planned. The results were what we wanted and overall we were satisfied with them. It did take a few calls to get some follow up stuff done.
