    Better Built Basements LLC
From the first meeting with Wayne, to discuss the project, to the final walk through, this company was personable, professional and completed quality work. Jim, Katelyn, Jake, Ben, Pat, Roger and every other crew member, were easy to communicate with and went above and beyond to accommodate us with any changes. I appreciated the insight and experience, from Jim, when it came to variations that would make things look better than the original plan. Overall I would trust and hire Better Built Basements for any and all renovations, as well as refer friends and family. Well done!

    KBK Construction LLC
KBK Construction recently remodeled a guest bathroom for us and we are extremely pleased with their work! Karol provided high quality workmanship and professionalism in all aspects of the remodel. Both the tub surround tile and the floor tile were expertly done. The vanity, sink and all fixtures were installed beautifully as well. Karol provided updates as needed, and if a problem arose, he would offer suggestions for ways to solve the issue. Karol and his assistant arrived on time each day and everything was completely cleaned up at the end of the day. We always knew the work schedule for the day. We plan to hire KBK Construction for a master bath and kitchen remodel.

Carson Richard Kitchen And Bath Designs
Although the price was higher than other estimates we chose to go with Carson Richard based on other recommendations. Best thing we ever did. Not only was the work done on time (we had a deadline to meet), the quality of the work and the team was superb. They even hooked up my old sink and partial countertop so it was usable while waiting for the granite to be installed. When a tile placement wasn't quite what I wanted, it was removed immediately and repositioned to my liking. DJ was the best at his craft and gave me suggestions based on other projects he's done. My house was always cleaned up when they left and I always knew what not to touch and for how long. Nicole was always there to help with ideas and to keep me informed of the schedule. She assured me that minor changes and additions that were not documented would be accommodated without issue or cost and she was right. Rich did a lot of the work and was there to oversee the work others did. Several times he didn't like the way something looked and he made his team redo it. He also found a solution to successfully hide wiring that I didn't like. Very accommodating people! When the job was done, they left my house cleaner than when they started. When it's time to do my bathroom, they are the only ones I will call to do the work. I highly recommend this company. From experience I know that you get what you pay for. I would be willing to speak with anyone about my experience with Carson Richard.

    Better Built Basements LLC
We called Better Built Basements for a quote and they came out to look at our project a couple days later, emailed the quote a few days after that, then as soon as we accepted their proposal, they promised us a definite start date within a few weeks.  We've dealt with other contractors who said they'd call us "when they were ready to start" and we'd end up waiting months, so being promised a specific start date was awesome!  But then because our project was on the smaller size, they ended up being able to squeeze us in even earlier than their promised date - that was fantastic!  They completed the job in less than a week and the resulting drywall job is absolutely beautiful.  We couldn't be happier.  We were also amazed at how well they cleaned up after themselves.  We expected to have sheetrock dust throughout our entire house, but there was nothing.  Apparently they use a vacuum attachment when they do the sanding, so there is almost no dust.  We would definitely hire Better Built Basements again.

    One Stop Remodeling
We found David through Angie's List when he posted a deal: $1500 for 40 hours of general contracting labor. Based on that, he inspected the work and gave a quote of roughly $1700. We thought that was reasonable, assuming it would take about 40 hours of effort. As it turns out, he had 1 guy out for most of one day to do the wall repair, and 2 guys out for most of another day to do the floor. If he was able to offer a deal of $1500 for 40 hours, this level of effort makes $1700 seem very high. Initial inspection looked good, and we signed off on the work. We did note a couple of irregularities with the flooring: our baseboard heating units were no longer flush to the wall, one of which was because a piece of trim had been jammed behind it! David sent his guys back to fix it, and they obviously "rushed it" - when David came to collect final payment, I showed him what they had done, and he actually had to fix it once again. Unfortunately, due to another emergency project that came up, we didn't get a chance to come back to the office project for a few weeks after David left. When we did finally come down to paint, and took a really close look at the wall rebuild, we realize that it had several flaws. The new wall board was already cracked end-to-end along a seam. The new shelf juts out in front of exist molding on the side wall, rather than being cut around it. And above the new shelf, a cut-out in the existing wallboard was left open, with just a piece of painting tape covering it. All in all, we got the feeling that our job was too "little" to get the full attention of David and his crew. The work seemed rush and sloppy. I would not recommend him.

Outstanding service. Jim was prompt, professional, courteous, and friendly. He explained exactly what was needed and the timeframe to complete. The finished product is perfect, would never be able to tell there was a repair.
I would absolutely use JM WALL REPAIR & CONSTRUCTION again if needed.

Aman and his team did an outstanding job.  This was a big job and extremely messy work (removing all the popcorn) and they did a great job minimizing the mess and cleaning up.  Aman was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend him for any painting project and would use his services again without hesitation.  We originally had contracted him for the ceiling work, but based on how well he did on that we added other painting projects to the contract.  The workmanship was outstanding and I couldn't find a single issue with anything they did.  He even repaired some work that I had done in the past.  The full project took about a week or so to complete and we were on vacation when he finished (we trusted him fully while we were gone).  Aman and his team were very courteous and worked around our schedules (and kids rooms) and always cleaned up at the end of each day.  His pricing is competitive and for the level of work performed the value is outstanding.  Both me and my wife agree that we made the right decision with hiring Aman - Can't go wrong here.

    DRM Construction Solutions LLC
Let me start by saying the ultimate outcome of any construction project is driven by not only the competence but also the underlying character and integrity of the contractor you've hired. DRM excelled on both points. This was demonstrated throughout the project by both the owner as well as the on-site project leader and crews. All of the work was top shelf and either met or exceeded our expectations. The materials and workmanship were excellent and the crews cleaned up every night to minimize any inconvenience for us. Having a competent responsible contractor, however, doesn't necessarily mean there won't be issues or problems. This unfortunately is an unavoidable byproduct of any construction/repair project. The key for me is how well your contractor deals with these issues. Again DRM excelled. During the roof demo we had a damaged window screen. Repaired and returned on the same day. Also during roof demo we had asphalt marks on our hatch and vinyl fence. In both cases, the issue was brought to us along with a resolution. There was some damage to the sliders during shipment. They were not accepted by DRM at the distributors and replacements were ordered. I felt throughout the project that Dennis the owner and Mike the project lead understood what we wanted to accomplish and shared our standards for quality. Character, integrity, and competence along with a high level of quality materials and workmanship should put DRM on anyone's short list for serious consideration.

At first, the cost of the BBB quote seemed a little high, and my husband and I were going to wait before we moved ahead with the project. But after getting quotes from other contractors and subcontractors, we felt that BBB was a good value and really knew how to do basements.  Their standard practice includes steel framing and mold-resistant sheetrock, which adds a little for material costs, but after having experienced a moldy basement in the past, is well-worth the investment.  We decided to go ahead and sign the contract with Jim.  The workers were incredibly efficient.  They'd usually put in very full days and leave the basement spotless when they left.  Even after jack-hammering up the floor to install pipes for a new bathroom, the space was swept clean at the end of the day.  BBB provided us with a schedule of work, updated for each week.  As questions and concerns arose, Jim was incredibly responsive by phone, email and text.  He was very proactive in correcting these issues, having workers come by within an hour or two.
We did run into a few unexpected issues though.  So although I'm giving BBB an A rating, I was torn.  I'd say they are really somewhere between an A- and a B+.
The negatives: (1) The carpeting allowance included in the quote was for a basic carpet.  We knew that we would likely pay extra for better quality.  Our impression was that the $2.25/SF allowance was for carpet material and that everything else was included.  It turns out BBB included carpet material, padding and installation in that price.  What we thought would be several hundred dollars extra for a better carpet turned into $1,500.  (2) The HVAC guy was not impressive.  He made a few mistakes along the way (that were eventually fixed), but losing your heat twice is not fun.  (3) The project took a few weeks longer than the 6 weeks we were originally quoted.  Part of the reason was because we were never given firm deadlines for picking out our bathroom fixtures. "Pick them out ASAP" is not as helpful as "We are going to install your vanity this Friday, so make sure it's picked out by Monday," for example. (4) Jim and his crew are builders. They had some design suggestions, but are not architects or interior designers.  I found it troubling that the framers designed our bathroom without considering that the low ceilings would not accommodate a normally-placed shower head. It wasn't until my husband was walking around the newly framed basement did he realize that the bathroom would need to be moved slightly. (5) The painting was not done as carefully as I would have liked. We had to have the poor painter return three times to complete touch-ups. There are still minor pin-holes and bubbles on one section of our wall.
That said, the basement now looks awesome.  My husband and I were involved with more of the design and selection of features than I originally anticipated, but we are very happy with the finished product.  For full disclosure, we were told that if we complete a review on Angie's List, we could expect a nice Starbucks gift card in return. We weren't asked to give an "A" review, but I certainly thought the Angie's List folks should know that BBB customers might be getting an incentive to submit reviews.
