From start to finish the job was a mess. I met with them and they seemed professional and the price was good so I hired them. I was to purchase the windows and supplies, and they would do the installation when they arrived. So special ordered the windows, picked up all the supplies, called them to start the job. A 2 day delay then a call "we can't do it, the height you want them installed is too high" - mind you I did have the person out to give me a quote and I told him it was pretty high which is why I wouldn't do it. I even showed it to him and he said "no problem". Discussion with owner since I now had the supplies and the custom ordered windows in the garage and finally they agree to come out and do it. I've done most of the wok on the attic myself so I spoke with the building inspector about the window headers - I sent them an email, spoke to them, handed a copy of the email I sent to the worker who came out to do work and I walked around and gave him a walk-through and spoke to him. All to make certain they understood I had spoken with the building inspector and the headers over the windows needed to be done a certain way. (4 - 2x4's instead of 2 - 2x6's) Day 1 I come home - the headers are done incorrectly (photo attached). Not just differently than I had suggested, but done in a way that would never pass any inspection. A header normally requires 2x6's or 2x8's across the top of the window onto the uprights for support. Since I had a thick wall I had approval for 4 - 2X4's instead of the 2x6's. But they ignored that and put one 2x4 as the header, and then cut down some of my 2x10's above it (cut down so far they did not actually rest on the uprights - thus giving no support). So had them come out to fix that after discussion again. When they did I handed them a drip guard to go over the window since one was a double and Anderson provided it and said it is necessary over any double or more window. Day 2 I come home, the boards are all nail-gunned in and they split pretty much every single 2x4 and 2x6 they used doing it (photo also attached). So I removed the broken ones and replaced them - out of my own pocket since at least I would do the work correctly. 2 days later job finally finishes and I'm cleaning up their mess and hey, why is the drip guard in a closet and not on the window. weeks of arguing with the owner, I've spent hours on the phone with Anderson windows and have gotten the reply "any time you have 2 or more windows like that you must use the drip guard". So finally we are at 1 and a half months after the job was supposed to be done (they called it a 2 day job) I finally get them out to finish the last of the work. And as a kicker I get an email from them - "we had to buy extra nails for the project, so please pay us the $150 for them". My reply (as I had said with every other supply I had bought for them) "Certainly, as I said, leave me the extra since I have a lot of work left to do in the attic and I'll gladly pay for the box" (I know they had used less than 1/3 of the box since I saw it the day they came out to pick up their materials.) They ended up dropping the $150 for the nails when they realized I wasn't paying for nails for them to use on other jobs. But to have the gall to try and charge me $150 for nails they took with them when they used less than $50 of them on the job on top of all the mistakes. I'm just glad I didn't have them do the sheetrocking as well on this or I would have had no idea how badly they cut corners on the project.

Let's just say when I started I hated my living room - and kept wasting money on things that didn't help as well as making color and design choices that just didn't work (a constant source of frustration for me) and now, after a few visits with Veronica my living room could be in a interior design magazine - not kidding. It's now hands down my favorite room in the house. What she did seemed so simple, and yet I've lived in this house for 8 years and the things she did, choices she made, just never would have occurred to me.

Oh the money I SAVED by hiring Veronica as well. Just by going with the contractor she recommended for the hardwood floors alone she SAVED ME SEVERAL THOUSAND dollars - so the $600 or so I've spent on her services were nothing - plus now I LOVE my home. I've always had kid parties at my house and now I could confidently host a black tie cocktail party too!

Besides making my home look beautiful AND saving me a lot of money in the long run, what I also really like about Veronica is her ability to both use what I already owned to re-do my home, but to also make gentle and appropriate recommendations for where and how to spend money when I'm ready to update this or that - such as new rugs on my hardwood floors, lighting, fixtures, furniture and wall hangings. Moreover, she's happy to research these things for me - which saves a lot of time since she clearly knows what she's doing and going on the night and day difference in my home I clearly don't (ha! ha!).

How did this go over with my husband? He didn't understand why hiring Veronica was necessary or of value when I first told him about it, but after just her first visit he got it and has been equally as pleased with her work.

    Kevin White
Kevin White is professional, punctual and takes pride in his work. He has helped finish some major projects in my home over the last 9 months. He is the most reasonable, reliable person that I have worked with. When he makes an appointment he is on time, everytime. He has helped me do work that was poorly done throughout the home and came through with beautiful cabinetry, doors that are now hung correctly.
