Excellent. Four year old 16 x 20 ft deck had mildew and lots of peeling. Steve responded same day by phone, next day on site with quote and assessment of what was needed for a quality repair. Finished within a week. Looks great!

    Deck Specialists Inc
Great! Paul was very professional and accommodating, and actually started work about 2 weeks early. At the end of each day, everything was cleaned up...no debris anywhere. The old deck was torn down and removed, although the brick posts were in good shape so they could be used to support the new deck. It took only 4 more work days to put in the frame/support, put down the decking, and add the stairs, ramp, railings, and privacy screen. The result is a beautiful new space for outdoor living. I would definitely recommend Deck Specialists for adding or replacing a deck.

    The Deck Man
Everything went very smoothly. Jeff was very responsive to our emails and (without asking) frequently sent us pictures so that we could keep up on the progress. We love our new deck and shower and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Justin is responsive and responsible. I would not hesitate to recommend him or hire him again. Our kitchen table is nice and sturdy again, and our deck looks great. $20 for the table, $550 for the deck.

The service we received was AMAZING!!  Unfortunately as Steve got into the work on both projects, he realized that it was going to be a much larger effort than originally planned.  The deck required a large amount of work (power washing, 3 rounds of scraping, testing various stains and paint) and lots of paint...but it came out looking awesome, we are very pleased.

Shortly after the work started, we had about 1.5 weeks worth of rain...with almost bare wood, we would need to wait a while before any further work was done - completely understandable.  In the meantime though, they powerwashed the side of the house and began scraping the shingles.  Again, a process that was much more difficult than originally planned, but Steve continued the work and brought a partner each time he was here.  He also found that 2 of our posts on the deck needed to be replaced - he did so for $365 total.

All in all, the work was completed in about 2.5 weeks and we couldn't be more pleased.  The side of our house was looking so shabby and so many shingles were peeling and in disrepair - Steve and company gave it quite a facelift - its nice to come home to every day and see fresh paint :) He also did small fixes along the way - adding concrete to a big divot in our foundation, hand painting the light fixture on that side of the house, etc.

We will call Steve again as soon as we need more work done anywhere in our home!  He was pleasant, a great communicator and completed all of this work at an amazing price.  So glad we found him!!

    Deck Designs Inc

Steve Ferro carefully evaluated the existing structure and came up with a cost effective way to rebuild it. He took time to explain his plan, kept in close communication with me every step of the way, and held his work crew to high standards by visiting the site one or more times daily. I now have a solidly built deck that will last forever and one that's receiving rave reviews from everyone who has seen it.

The company also remodels and builds homes.

    CDJ Home Improvement
Carl and his crew are beyond professional, they showed up 15 minutes early and did all the work as described and even a little extra.  These guys are beyond professional, they are polite and courteous as well.  I even left for work and left them inside on their own.  Carl and Ryan are very trustworthy and they maintained a very clean and neat job site, they were constantly picking up after themselves.  I was dreading coming home to a dirty project and having to relax amidst a mess but I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had returned the furniture to the right locations at the end of each day.  I highly recommend you give Carl a call.  He is not only a professional and does great work, he is also very affordable.  Carl is really the jack of all trades with all of your home improvement needs.

The project was to be completed June 12. The materials were to be delivered with the second payment. So far they have 26,000 if out money and we have a ripped up deck .. And one side of yard fence done. There was a problem with the material that was delivered to be put down on the deck and this did cause a delay .. HOWEVER THERE WAS NO REASON THE FENCE MATERIAL IS NOT HERE AND THE FENCE IS NOT DONE.. All I get is one excuse after another. We only ever saw about 30 boards for the deck and although the azek rep has offered to step in and get the material .. This contractor has not responded to the request and we had to resort to hiring an attorney . Also the deck was left unsecured and unsafe and we had an accident that left us with 4 hours in the ER .and still dealing with possible complications . Overall a horrible experience .. It is now July 14.. After the June 12 deadline passed .. We were promised the fence by June 27 and the deck by July 4!! These dates have come and gone also.. Now we are told there were projects taken on before us that need to be completed .. Interesting though when the fence was started June 23 we were told they finished up and now could concentrate on us .. However they ran out of material to finish !! It's been crazy!!

    Bauhaus Construction

The entire experience went EXTREMELY well.  I chose this company after reading many positive reviews on Angie's List and I am so glad that I made this choice.  I initially contacted Mr. Oliver Beer via his website.  He promptly called me back and we set up an initial appointment.  He arrived on time and spent at least an hour with me inspecting the current deck & supporting structure, discussing options, offering suggestions, etc.  I initially was thinking of going with a composite type of decking and vinyl railing, but Oliver actually steered me towards a more economical option.  It's a rare thing to find a home contractor with such integrity.  I appreciated his honesty and his willingness to share his wealth of home improvement & construction knowledge.  Additionally, he is very outgoing, personable and polite, and I felt very comfortable establishing a working relationship with him.

To prepare his estimate, Oliver really did his homework.  He took pictures of the current structure and sent them off to his lumber contact for review.  By collaborating with that contact, they determined that there could possibly be an issue with the posts supporting the three season room adjacent to the deck.  Although the three season room wasn't intended to be a factor in the project, Oliver was concerned that demolishing and rebuilding the current deck could potentially impact the integrity of the three season room.  He then took the initiative to go to the town hall and look up the prior building permits on my house.  He also spoke with the building inspector and had him come to my house to review the current structure.  He did all of this leg work even before I had signed a written contract with him.  Because he was so diligent and meticulous in this upfront research it was determined that the current deck was not built to code. The building inspector suggested modifications to the plan to ensure that the current cement pilings would be replaced and that the current three season room posts would be replaced or reinforced.  Oliver promptly adjusted the estimate to accommodate these additional steps.  I was very impressed that Oliver went the extra mile to perform this research and to seek out the building inspector.  Once again, I was impressed with his thoroughness, honesty & integrity.

After signing the contract and giving him a deposit, the materials quickly arrived.  The contract included an estimated start date & Oliver anticipated that it would be a 3 business day job.  The weather cooperated and his two-man crew (Scott & Joe) were able start on time.  It was a pleasure meeting Scott & Joe.  They, too, are very personable and polite and work very hard.  Their craftsmanship is excellent and they always thoroughly cleaned up the work site.

The demolition of the old deck and pouring the new cement pilings took 1 day.  After a few days of rain, the crew was back and spent 2 additional days to complete the job.  Just as Oliver had said --- a total of 3 days.

Throughout the project (from the initial meeting to the end of the job) Oliver always kept me apprised of the progress being made either through email, texts or phone calls. He has great follow through and always meets his commitments. It was a pleasure doing business with someone who is so professional and has such a strong work ethic.  I look forward to working with Oliver and team on future home improvement projects.

    PerfectView Remodeling LLC
'         Louis Cook of PerfectView Remodeling responded to my telephone request for an estimate.  He is a gentleman, who is knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with.  He visited our home, inspected the old deck, and discussed in detail the options for the deck materials and a partial reconfiguration of the stairs.  A couple of days after we agreed on the details, he provided a cost estimate and draft contract, which became the executed contract.  The demolition of the old deck and construction of the new deck and new stairs were performed by Chris and Josh.  Besides being very competent workers, they too are gentlemen.  I thoroughly enjoyed my brief conversations with them, as the work progressed.
The demolition work proceeded as expected, until the railing support and ledger plate, whicih carries half the load of the joists and deck, were removed from the house.  Water damage, which was discovered at the ledger plate location, was expertly repaired (water proofing, insullation, etc.) before the new ledger plate was installed.
When the old deck was originally constructed, a 3 and 3/4 inch wide strip was cut out of each of 9 rows of siding for the railing support which was attached to the house.  The removal of the old railing support left an unsightly gap in the siding and 18 inch long sections of the 9 rows of siding between the gap and the corner of the house.  Lou and his men devised a clever method to eliminate the gap and fix the siding problem.  The 18-inch long sections were removed and discarded. Sections of siding near the gap and sections of siding from below the deck were combined and relocated to the problem area.  The fix was so well executed that I could not tell where the existing siding remained and where the relocated siding had been installed.  Lou was able to find and acquire new siding that matched the color of the old siding almost perfectly.  The new siding was installed below the deck,  replacing the siding that had been relocated.  Any difference in color between the existing siding and the new siding under the deck is not discernable.
After the two unforseen problems were handled, the project proceeded steadily to completion.  Despite the cold and often inclement winter weather, Chris and Josh demonstrated that they are hardy and skilled artisans, who were able construct a deck that is both functional as well as asthetically pleasing.  Below are two photos of the finished deck.
Relative to the above item "Approximate cost of service," the original agreed upon price for the deck replacement was $12,000.  The additional $1470 covered the costs of purchasing  additional material, repairing the water damage, fixing the siding problem, and acquiring the required town permit.
My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the deck and the people of PerfectView Remodeling who constructed it.
