Lighting Installation reviews in Rocky Hill

  • A

He arrived 15 minutes early and apologized for being early.  He first came in to see the what had to been done and then went to get the necessary tools and tarp to protect my house.  He brought two types of brackets for ceiling fan installation depending upon the type of ceiling I had. He did not need to use either one since one was already installed for the chandelier.

He read the instructions before putting the fan together because he said every fan is a little different.

He had no problem removing the chandelier or installing the fan with 9 foot ceilings.

He was very pleasant and a nice person and very knowledgeable.

We hired Gove Restoration because we own an older home, and knew that the Goves had done historical restoration work in Old Wethersfield, plus, friends there had recommended them.  After talking to Matt Gove, I became convinced that the Goves were the right ones for the job because they would be meticulous about preserving the period style and materials to the extent possible, and they would also be scrupulous about making sure all the work was up to code.  Matt and Adam Gove were extremely conscientious about supervising and doing the work personally, keeping us informed as to what they were doing, and alerting us to any potential problems that might crop up.  It was difficult to coordinate the work of all the subcontractors especially since their respective parts of the job had to be done in a certain order.  All of the work was done with admirable precision and care.  The plumber was especially good, maybe the best I have ever seen.  I especially liked that there was no swearing, no foul talk, no loud radios, no barechested sweaty guys.  The entire crew was polite and professional.  In fact, I had to spend many days at home preparing lessons and correcting papers, and the work never interfered with my own work, though with just about any other contractor, it would have been a major distraction.  Gove Restoration is "the civilized contractor."   Matt was ingenious about finding parts and fixtures that would preserve the period style, such as door knobs, handles, or stops, and molding salvaged from what had been dismantled.  I was particularly impressed that when the job was done, and I had trouble with the dryer not venting, Matt came over personally to take a look, even though it was unlikely that his part of the work was at fault; rather, it was almost certainly a problem with the appliance itself, which had been modified by service providers from the department store that sold us the dryer so that it would vent out the side instead of the back.  Indeed it was the dryer, but Matt found the problem and showed me how to fix it, even though the appliance itself was not his responsibility, and furthermore he charged me nothing for the visit.  It is true that Gove Restoration costs a bit more, but in the long run, you will probably save money because the work will not have to be done again, as is often the case with mediocre contractors who are, moreover, often careless about making sure their work is up to code, causing problems later on.  But Matt was great working with the city inspector, and kept him informed the entire time, so that the final inspection went off without a hitch.  The new room is so beautifully done, and so much in conformity with the historical style of the house, that I have trouble remembering what it looked like before the renovation.  It is true that the work ended up costing more than originally estimated, but that was because we ourselves made changes three times to the original order, asking additional work to be done.  That, and some special circumstances such as delays in delivery of the custom-made double doors on which all the other work depended, did cause the job to take longer than anticipated, but I will gladly trade a few delays to get work done as splendidly as they did it.  The Goves truly take pride in the quality of the work they do, and are impatient with sloppy craftsmanship.  It is not just carpentry, but art!

I recommend Karol to anyone in need of a good contractor. His price was fair, his work was outstanding and it was done quickly. He came when he said he would and did what he said he would do and more. His guiding principle was that he was putting his name on it so it had to be perfect. I have recommended him many times and everyone had been thrilled with his work. Bottom line is: you cant go wrong.

Tony, the owner of the company, came to my house personally to look at the existing door, show me the products available, and discuss what type of door would achieve the look I wanted.  He was patient and helped me make decisions about the door style, glass, and fixtures.   Within two weeks of making my decisions he called to say the door had arrived in his shop and to schedule installation.  He was able to do the installation within a week.
The night before the installation I became nervous about the install because I am very particular about neatness and quality of work.  Tony and his two assistants exceeded my expectations, despite the fact that they encountered a problem when they realized that my old door frame was not quite standard.  A little more sawing needed to take place.  Still, they did the job within a day.  They were neat, efficient, and reliable.  I had no concerns whatsoever.  I would highly recommend them.
By the way, they also installed new gutters for me two years ago and put new vinyl siding on my neighbor's house that same year.  Both of those jobs were done very well.  I was surprised how affordable the gutters were!

Everything went as planned. This is the second time I have used this contractor and have recommended Bruce to family and friends. One bathroom was totally gutted. Both received new showers, toilets, custom vanities; one a shower. All new plumbing, lighting, flooring, painting. Everything was done in a timely fashion and prior to the holidays. I live alone and was out of work. I chose this time because they were not busy at the time. It worked out fine. All the workers were efficient, friendly and neat. It is unfortunate that I don't have any other rooms to remodel. They did my kitchen in the summer.

Met Bruce and Laura at a home design show. Set up a free consultation. They were punctual at each meeting. During measurements, We mutually discussed ideas. They returned after about a week with a computer rendering of the new kitchen. I did not do a complete overhaul. No new floors or ceiling work and did not change layout. Laura and Bruce had great ideas and we worked together well. They left me with the plans and a quote. I took some time to think about it and contacted them a couple weeks later to confirm that I would like to hire their company. I was impressed that they only work on one job at a time so your home is their only priority. They came to my home together three times and finally with a contract. Payment plan is easy as it is done in installments. Most contact was through email and response was immediate. Phone calls came later when work was started and deadlines for ordering supplies was crucial. Communication was extremely easy.Laura recommended the appliance company and they were terrific! They recommended the tile and granite stores, also very nice people to work with and extremely knowledgeable. I was extremely impressed by their sheetrocker. Bruce and Laura have great contractors and made everything easy. Laura has great design ideas and helped me through my panic modes. All work was done on time each day. Every contractor came when expected. The people were friendly and efficient. They worked neatly and were respectful of the house.Everyone was easy to talk to and my advice is just don't be afraid to talk to your contractor. They work for you. Bruce was always welcoming as were the contractors--electrician, sheetrocker. The work was completed within the time frame expected...less than 2 weeks. They had to special order some glass doors and shelves which took about a month longer but I did not have a deadline. Bruce came out immediately to complete. Also, if I found a little crooked drawer, Bruce came out to tweak the drawer, or cabinet or switch a knob. Never any trouble. I have been recommending their work to all my friends and family and will be talking with them about remodeling at least two more bathrooms!

Service requested to repair a pull light fixture and provide a quote on other services. The fixture couldn’t be repaired but Gen 3 was able to replace it during that same visit.
