  • For the estimate, Hugh showed up promptly for the window of time he provided me when I scheduled my appointment. He walked through the house and provided me best and worst case scenarios with refinishing my floors. Due to the aging of the floors, pet stains from the previous owners, as well as poor maintenance from previous owners (washed floors with water), Hugh explained what my options were for the refinishing and repairs. He provided me an estimate for both jobs within 24 hours. When I scheduled the job, Hugh showed up when he said he would and completed the job when he estimated he would. He also kept me informed every step of the way. Since I was new to hardwood floors he walked me through the various stain choices and the pros and cons of each based on the conditions of my floors. Once the job was complete he did a walk through with me and educated me on the maintenance of the floors - how to clean as well as the products to use and not use, and the types of rugs, rug pads and doormats to buy and not buy.
Would highly recommend Sinnott Flooring for your floor refinishing!

  • The guys were great, and worked very hard to make it perfect. They made sure to clean up and vacuum before they left. They insisted on taking the extra time to do that, even though they were running a little late. I was impressed with their professionalism . I am hoping to use Mr. Hardwood again for a much larger job. I'll let you know how that goes!

  • We hired Gove Restoration because we own an older home, and knew that the Goves had done historical restoration work in Old Wethersfield, plus, friends there had recommended them.  After talking to Matt Gove, I became convinced that the Goves were the right ones for the job because they would be meticulous about preserving the period style and materials to the extent possible, and they would also be scrupulous about making sure all the work was up to code.  Matt and Adam Gove were extremely conscientious about supervising and doing the work personally, keeping us informed as to what they were doing, and alerting us to any potential problems that might crop up.  It was difficult to coordinate the work of all the subcontractors especially since their respective parts of the job had to be done in a certain order.  All of the work was done with admirable precision and care.  The plumber was especially good, maybe the best I have ever seen.  I especially liked that there was no swearing, no foul talk, no loud radios, no barechested sweaty guys.  The entire crew was polite and professional.  In fact, I had to spend many days at home preparing lessons and correcting papers, and the work never interfered with my own work, though with just about any other contractor, it would have been a major distraction.  Gove Restoration is "the civilized contractor."   Matt was ingenious about finding parts and fixtures that would preserve the period style, such as door knobs, handles, or stops, and molding salvaged from what had been dismantled.  I was particularly impressed that when the job was done, and I had trouble with the dryer not venting, Matt came over personally to take a look, even though it was unlikely that his part of the work was at fault; rather, it was almost certainly a problem with the appliance itself, which had been modified by service providers from the department store that sold us the dryer so that it would vent out the side instead of the back.  Indeed it was the dryer, but Matt found the problem and showed me how to fix it, even though the appliance itself was not his responsibility, and furthermore he charged me nothing for the visit.  It is true that Gove Restoration costs a bit more, but in the long run, you will probably save money because the work will not have to be done again, as is often the case with mediocre contractors who are, moreover, often careless about making sure their work is up to code, causing problems later on.  But Matt was great working with the city inspector, and kept him informed the entire time, so that the final inspection went off without a hitch.  The new room is so beautifully done, and so much in conformity with the historical style of the house, that I have trouble remembering what it looked like before the renovation.  It is true that the work ended up costing more than originally estimated, but that was because we ourselves made changes three times to the original order, asking additional work to be done.  That, and some special circumstances such as delays in delivery of the custom-made double doors on which all the other work depended, did cause the job to take longer than anticipated, but I will gladly trade a few delays to get work done as splendidly as they did it.  The Goves truly take pride in the quality of the work they do, and are impatient with sloppy craftsmanship.  It is not just carpentry, but art!

  • From our first visit with Paul who arrived on time to provide us with an estimate.  We were impressed by his professionalism and kindness.  He asked us a few questions about what we were looking for, measured our condo and let us know he will provide us with an estimate within a day or two.  On the 2nd day, we received the estimate, made an appointment to visit Joselyn in the Schneider's Flooring America store in Vernon, CT, and were greeted by Joslyn who helped us to make a decision about which carpet and tile to purchase.  Joslyn was also very professional and clearly had our best interest in mind.  We looked at only the carpeting and tile choices (there were many on display in their beautiful store) that would meet our budget.  Next, we scheduled the installation and the day before the installation, Kevin called to let us know the time of their arrival.  Kevin and Scott arrived promptly, very professional, kind and hard workers.  It took two days to complete the installation of our new carpet which looks beautiful.  Schneider's Flooring America really took care of us.  We have already highly recommended them to our friends and family.  Thank you Schneider's!

  • The area to be tiled is approx. 78 s.f. Other vendors quoted $500 to install the tile. Floors Now said the cost would be over $1000. I expected to pay maybe $100 additional to the cost of the "Big Deal", not $600.

  • Honestly, this is the first contractor that ever brought me to the point of tears. If you are a customer who likes attention to detail then, this is NOT the company for you.  I do have to say that Floors Now did a nice job on my carpet however, the tile install was a nightmare!!!  Everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong.  The workers were very sloppy.  First, as I entered my home after I thought the job was complete, I noticed that they got grout all over my new "welcome mat" and entrance way outside my door. The cut of the tile around the corners was jagged ( which they fixed by just piling ont a thicker layer of grout)  Related depris was left in the air vent grate at the bottom of my staircase.  There were nubs of glue all throughout the entire tile area that became more noticeable everytime someone walked on it with dark socks.   I was on my hands and knees for a week trying to get it all off. When they moved the refridgerator to do the kitchen floor, the rack broke off inside.  When they moved the stove, they broke a decorative plate, that was wrapped in paper, and left it on the counter in pieces.  There was gout left in streaks on the tile, like someone had taken a dirty cloth to clean the area.  Grout was spayed all over the counter and had dried on a serving dish that was in the sink.  When I went to do laundry, I noticed that the lid to the washing machine was open...I am assuming that they had to open it to move the machine.  However, when I want to do laundry that night, there was brown dust all throughout my laundry....which was not there when I had done a load of wash they day before. After taking pictures and cleaning up the mess, I provided the owner with a list of all the issues. As I was relaying my concerns  one of his associates questioned whether I was the one who broke the decorative plate, really?!  Well, they came out a second time, for what I thought was to assess my concerns. I was not made aware that they were going to attempt to fix the problems at that moment  since I had two moving men trying to move furniture. After the owner finished his assessment of the job, he commended them on what a great job they did....at that point,  had to laugh since, who is the customer??? Shouldn't I be the one to say that they did a good job??   I could tell that the movers where not pleased that a company would be working on floor as furniture is being moved in. I told them to come back but, they said the repairs would not take long to fix.  Interesting enough, right before the workers left, they gave me an open box of my leftover tile ....wouldn't you think that if there was any leftover materials, it should have initially been left with the customer since, it was already prepaid ??  I guess this was their peace offering,  Well, after they left the second time, I noticed that the repairs to the off white grout were now a brown/tan color.  It looked like dirt....again NOT HAPPY.  The owner stated that I was being critical and that the floor may not have cured properly....Well, they came out for a third time and ironically enough, the worker informed me that they used the WRONG color grout to fix the repair!!!! Then, the owner actually called while the worker was finishing the job in order to ensure that I provide him with final payment....at that point, I informed him that I had not yet reviewed the final invoice and I wanted to make sure that this NEW grout was going to cure properly.  My friends and family could not believe all the aggrevation that I went through, Once I sent in the final payment, it was such a relief knowing that I will never have to deal with this company again.

  • Everything went as planned. This is the second time I have used this contractor and have recommended Bruce to family and friends. One bathroom was totally gutted. Both received new showers, toilets, custom vanities; one a shower. All new plumbing, lighting, flooring, painting. Everything was done in a timely fashion and prior to the holidays. I live alone and was out of work. I chose this time because they were not busy at the time. It worked out fine. All the workers were efficient, friendly and neat. It is unfortunate that I don't have any other rooms to remodel. They did my kitchen in the summer.

  • Excellent.  The work was completed on time and to specifications.  I was very happy with the fixtures and other materials we selected, and the room came out great.
Baybrook highly values satisfied customers, and does what they need to do to ensure that every customer is happy with the work they perform.
