  • Rick and his staff is a first class operation! Rick was on site daily to oversee the quality and progress of the work along with logistical planning for the days events. His employees are skilled craftsman who pay attention to the little details. They kept the jobsite neat and cleaned up each and every day. They worked on some of the hottest days this past summer and I give them a lot of credit, it wasn't easy. I get compliments almost on a daily basis from everyone who walks by. I would recommend Suburban Windows to anyone thing about new windows, doors, roofing & siding

    Thanks Rick!

  • Tony and his staff were professional, reliable, on-time and the projects were completed during the time period we agreed to.  Tony consistently would check in with to ensure we were happy with his work and the projects in general.  This was, by far, the best experience we have had with a contractor.  All of the individuals who worked in our home were trustworthy, friendly and skilled.
I would (and have) highly recomend Phoenician Home Improvement.
Tony and his team go above and beyond to ensure the satisfaction of customers - we initially hired Phoenician to complete the basement renovation.  We were so impressed by their work that we decided to move forward with Tony to complete the rest of our home renovations.

  • We hired Gove Restoration because we own an older home, and knew that the Goves had done historical restoration work in Old Wethersfield, plus, friends there had recommended them.  After talking to Matt Gove, I became convinced that the Goves were the right ones for the job because they would be meticulous about preserving the period style and materials to the extent possible, and they would also be scrupulous about making sure all the work was up to code.  Matt and Adam Gove were extremely conscientious about supervising and doing the work personally, keeping us informed as to what they were doing, and alerting us to any potential problems that might crop up.  It was difficult to coordinate the work of all the subcontractors especially since their respective parts of the job had to be done in a certain order.  All of the work was done with admirable precision and care.  The plumber was especially good, maybe the best I have ever seen.  I especially liked that there was no swearing, no foul talk, no loud radios, no barechested sweaty guys.  The entire crew was polite and professional.  In fact, I had to spend many days at home preparing lessons and correcting papers, and the work never interfered with my own work, though with just about any other contractor, it would have been a major distraction.  Gove Restoration is "the civilized contractor."   Matt was ingenious about finding parts and fixtures that would preserve the period style, such as door knobs, handles, or stops, and molding salvaged from what had been dismantled.  I was particularly impressed that when the job was done, and I had trouble with the dryer not venting, Matt came over personally to take a look, even though it was unlikely that his part of the work was at fault; rather, it was almost certainly a problem with the appliance itself, which had been modified by service providers from the department store that sold us the dryer so that it would vent out the side instead of the back.  Indeed it was the dryer, but Matt found the problem and showed me how to fix it, even though the appliance itself was not his responsibility, and furthermore he charged me nothing for the visit.  It is true that Gove Restoration costs a bit more, but in the long run, you will probably save money because the work will not have to be done again, as is often the case with mediocre contractors who are, moreover, often careless about making sure their work is up to code, causing problems later on.  But Matt was great working with the city inspector, and kept him informed the entire time, so that the final inspection went off without a hitch.  The new room is so beautifully done, and so much in conformity with the historical style of the house, that I have trouble remembering what it looked like before the renovation.  It is true that the work ended up costing more than originally estimated, but that was because we ourselves made changes three times to the original order, asking additional work to be done.  That, and some special circumstances such as delays in delivery of the custom-made double doors on which all the other work depended, did cause the job to take longer than anticipated, but I will gladly trade a few delays to get work done as splendidly as they did it.  The Goves truly take pride in the quality of the work they do, and are impatient with sloppy craftsmanship.  It is not just carpentry, but art!

  • The process was professional from start  to  finish The sales representative, son of the owner of this family business, was thorough and courteous; there was absolutely no pressure to purchase. We took several days to evaluate and think things over and then, when we were completely comfortable, we called to make the purchase.  Another representative from the company came out on time as scheduled about a week later and took all necessary measurements. The breezeway replacement doors were a particular challenge and he suggested an installation that has worked perfectly. When the windows arrived we set up an appointment for installation. The installation took four days and the installers were as professional as everyone else we had encountered with AWS. One window was accidentally broken during installation and a new one was ordered immediately and replaced within two weeks. During that time we noticed a few minor glitches here and there which were taken care of at the time the broken window was replaced. The windows were trimmed out so beautifully on the outside that several of our neighbors commented within days on how beautiful the house looked. One day after the broken window was replaced, the sales representative who had made the original visit called to check in to see how everything had gone and ask about our satisfaction with the job, windows, doors, etc. We were impressed by that!  Without a doubt we would recommend this company to others!

  • Tony, the owner of the company, came to my house personally to look at the existing door, show me the products available, and discuss what type of door would achieve the look I wanted.  He was patient and helped me make decisions about the door style, glass, and fixtures.   Within two weeks of making my decisions he called to say the door had arrived in his shop and to schedule installation.  He was able to do the installation within a week.
The night before the installation I became nervous about the install because I am very particular about neatness and quality of work.  Tony and his two assistants exceeded my expectations, despite the fact that they encountered a problem when they realized that my old door frame was not quite standard.  A little more sawing needed to take place.  Still, they did the job within a day.  They were neat, efficient, and reliable.  I had no concerns whatsoever.  I would highly recommend them.
By the way, they also installed new gutters for me two years ago and put new vinyl siding on my neighbor's house that same year.  Both of those jobs were done very well.  I was surprised how affordable the gutters were!
