Lawn Care reviews in Plainville

  • I thought their costs were excessive. I have a big yard with a lot of garden. So there was a lot of work. They did it well because they sent out a crew of five and they had it done quickly. But, it was still a little more. I needed to get it done, which is why I agreed to that price.

  • I hired TruBlue for snow removal for the 2014-2015 season.  I had to call a couple of times to get him to come out and do the snow removal.  Then the next couple of storms, things went well.  However with the Feb 2nd, 2015 snowstorm, no one came to do my driveway.  It was a 10 inch storm and I ended up having to do the shoveling myself.  I called him several times and my calls were never answered.  He is NOT RELIABLE.

  • I have used him many times and will continue to do so. He provides an estimate, shows up when he says he will, works very hard and well and knows his plants better than anyone else I have found to do garden work. I have used him to do the work that I can no longer do because of age so it is a mixed bag of chores anytime that he comes and there has never ever been a problem.
I will use him again whenever the chores build up.

  • He was the only one who came that suggested the same plan as our home inspector and a relative who had worked in drainage and excavation.  Some plans from others were more expensive and addressed only one window or would have routed the water in an odd direction.  We haven't had any water problems since.  It was also cold and late season and I thought the grass he seeded wouldn't have a chance before winter.  I was strong and quick and grew in a shady area.  everything was left very neat and exactly like he said.  He was prompt and did the job when he said.

  •  They were very responsive to my call . They came out quickly and we walked the property. At the end of the walk we verbally agreed to an amount for the work and within hours there was a written estimate on my computer.
They arrived with a crew of 5 hard working people. It was a cold and windy day so the conditions were not the best to work but they were admirable in their dedication to getting the job done well. My property is a large and complex garden so I was outside with them to answer questions on how I wanted certain plants handled and to make sure that they got everything. They worked for over 5 hours and the place looks great. The garden will go into the winter in the best shape it has for many a year.
While the $1000 may seem high, I consider it reasonable based on the complexity of the work and the person-hours that they spent here

  • At first I thought the interaction went well. Contact method was Angies List and then phone and personal email.
I work alot in the day and I could not be at the property during the hours that the guys were coming over. I told him I take care of my mother and work all day and did not have the time to be there. I asked them to please go to the property and take a look and my mom would be there to allow them on the property and to leave any information or quotes. We also would speak verbally over the phone and by email of my wishes. My mom who is not part of the transaction was at the house for verification of their presence.
I had clearly stated my budget was $700.00. I expressed my entire idea to see how much of it could actually be accomplished in my budget.
I had a stump ground out by another company who did a horrible job. I have a hump of dirt and it was not flat so wanted it spread out a bit to give it a more flattened appearance if possible and so we can plant grass and maybe a picnic table could go there. I needed the yard cleaned up for guests. I wanted the yard cleaned up, trimming, cleaned up, cleared like a winter clean up. I needed the saplings and vines that were growing in between my bushes taken out and the bush line trimmed and weeded. I needed the vines cut away and cleaned up from the fence lines. I asked for a quote on redoing and stoning the beds around my house and garage but that was way out of my ballpark to I stuck with what was just discussed. I could not afford him to flatten the hump of dirt in the back yard with a machine that does this but he stated he would spread it out a little bit to even it out the dirt best possible. That he knew what I was looking to do. And with that I thought they would take care of it.
Vinnie was extremely nice. At the time he was having some staffing issues but he was up front and I thought since we were communicating so well that the work would be everything I asked for at this great price.
The power wash was the best part, Im glad I had it done. The fence line that had vines intertwined was cleared and the bushes that were in the beds on the front and side of the house were trimmed and looked great. They cleared out all the vines that wrapped around the fence line exactly as I asked as well. The bushes were trimmed in the front yard bed and side driveway bed.
However, the bush line was gutted. There was no weeding done not even raked out. They cut the saplings at the base near the ground and they will grow back. Gutted so much that my neighbor came over to ask what they were doing that they were taking out too much. It was like they didn't know the difference between the vines and saplings and the bushes. But the clean up and weeding was my biggest problem. A rake was not used in my yard not even in the bushes. The base of the bushes was full of leaves and sticks. I thought a clean up of a fenceline would include the ground. Not just taking away the mess from the gutting of the bushes and vine scraps but get it looking good for guests. Mind you the bushes are not even the length of the back yard. They are against a chicken type wire fence my neighbor has up. I had trimmed and mowed the lawn myself the previous weekend so they could actually see what I needed done. There is 2 / 5ft bushes in a section before my A/C fan with a base that had stones outlining it and about a row of 8-10 / 5 ft bushes after that that was past house in a section that made it half of the back yard. But the last part of the fence line was the chicken wire which had the vines and they cleared it out but you'd think clean up would include a rake. I did not know I had to make sure the words raking, weeding and clean up must be in the quote. I think they weed wacked the edging and mowed the lawn. Those items were not on the quote and his guys did that for me so when I came to him to ask him to make sure they weeded and raked and not to gut the bushes anymore he refused and cut our business relationship.
I still had budget money left yet he did not want to accommodate or help me out in anyway, just pay me and cut off. I called and got an email. So that is why I rated Professionalism as a D but the service as a whole a B.
I did pay him in full but I still got a mess to clean up. I guess I gotta just do it myself because now Im broke.

  • Ed responded quickly to my call and came over to discuss the job in order to give me an estimate. He emailed the estimate within days with two options. One was a per container fee and the other an hourly rate. I chose the per container rate because I was unfamiliar with him and his work ethic. He came within a week to do the work and had it all done before lunch. The plants were well planted and watered. The area was neat and the empty pots stacked as I had asked.

My only regret was in my choice of the container rate. He worked so much harder and faster than I expected.

By the way, he planted 5 of the containers without a charge.

I would hire him again. In fact I plant on having him do some more work this fall. As an aging senior who can't do all the work by myself, it is nice to have someone to call on.
