Tom did an excellent job. The house was in terrible condition with giant flakes of paint chipping off. Tom's team Pressure washed, sanded the entire house to almost bare wood, primed, replaced rotted/cracked siding and painted. Very patient with us as we could not decide on a final paint color. In addition, our 2 large decks, previously painted, were sanded down to bare would and finished in a clear mahogany color. Price was 50% higher than our last paint job (that prior paint job barely lasted a year before it pealed), but Tom's crew put in 500% more prep time, care and effort. Completely satisfied.

Leon, of L.A. Barnaby & Sons, has been a great help to us in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations, the price was excellent, and the coordination between the various phases was flawless. There was complete attention to detail and Leon’s suggestions were excellent. For instance, he suggested we move an electrical conduit underground that was in an archway between the house and garage. It is now aesthetically much more modern and safe, we never even thought of it. The house looks fabulous, and we are so pleased with the results. We enthusiastically recommend L.A. Barnaby and Sons.

The job went according to schedule and we were very pleased with the work. He found some boards and stairs that needed to be replaced because they had rotted. He still was able to complete the project on time and with great results.

Our stairs, which included 4 steps and a 4' x 6' porch, were brick with several skimcoats -- and falling apart. The whole thing was breaking up and its interior (sand) was falling out the sides. I had 4 contractors come to give quotes on the stairs ONLY, and their prices ranged from $2,500 (VERY basic wood) to $6,000 (concrete). This of course was for the stairs only, and didn't cover any unforeseen circumstances and certainly not the walkway ($1,200 by one contractor's estimate). Unfortunately, we really needed to get the stairs fixed. We were about to go with the lowest bidder when my coworker mentioned someone had just done her back porch-- by himself. We were a little skeptical so we went over to her house to see his "work". We had pretty low expectations but we were floored by the job-- he truly crafted the perfect porch for her backyard out of concrete and bluestone. We signed Jason on the spot. Jason had us order the materials from New Haven Masonry so we would know exactly what the costs were-- *no* overhead for materials! Everything was delivered and Jason got to work at once. He knocked down our stairs-- with a sledgehammer-- and prepared for the job ahead. That's when he noticed found that, since our stairs were filled with sand and the surface cracked, that sand had been wet for a LONG time-- this caused a massive 8' section of wood beam supporting the walls of the house to rot away. This is when most contractors stop and say, "well, we *can* fix it, but, that'll be another $1,500 please". Jason charged us a minimum just so he could spend the day fixing it. He framed out one of our basement walls to act as a support for the section of wood, added another layer of supporting beams, and then cut away the siding, insulation, and finally the wood itself. He replaced the wood and knocked it in tight. Then he sealed everything back up, good as new. He then got to work on the steps: brick all around with bluestone steps and a blusestone and concrete landing on the top of the porch. The whole thing was filled-- with concrete this time. He then put up railings (Home Depot, railings, I'm afraid-- it's all we can afford), but he even made these look good. Let me tell you the whole thing looks amazing. Now, our walkway: this was a heavily sloped surface of cracked skim coating and concrete, just like the stairs. Jason broke it all up into pieces. He then poured a new walkway, added two steps to compensate for the slope of the land (you can guess how sloped it *used* to be), and fit a lot of the old walkway back into the walkway as support. The whole thing looks fantastic. He also helped with a bunch of other things, but I'm out of space here. I can't recommend him enough. He's amazing-- a true craftsman in the old world tradition (our realtor called him a "true mason"). I've seen porches, patios, bathrooms, and kitchens he's done (he took me on a little tour).. everything he touches is beautiful.

Lucas is the guy that owns the company and is a great friend of mine. He did one of my rehabs, but unfortunately it cost me a $100,000, but that was a total gut rehab. That?s great and that is what he is good at that, but if I just needed an apartment gutted I would want to spend more like $800. We took a beat up lighten property in New Haven on Clay Street which is in the Fair Haven section and it is notoriously known for gang behavior and bad stuff. It was next door to one of my other properties where there was sick family. It was a problem for me because I could not get insurance on it because it was all blighted up and was a drug haven, so I bought the house next door for $35,000. We were going to do a total gut rehab, but that would include taking down the natural plaster walls and if we pulled out the walls, the city of New Haven was going to force us to redo everything inside the walls from plumbing to electrical work. We rented the top floor for $1400 and the bottom for $12,000. I have to say that Lucas is extraordinarily professional and put in a quote and stuck pretty much to the quote. Any extra things that I asked after the fact he was able to accommodate with no problem. We had a heating and hot water system which was a combination of one in all which not many people tried at the time. We put two side by side and one worked and one did not, but he came back every single time there was a problem and was there within a matter of hours. It wasn?t his fault and was the manufacturing defect. He was recommended to us by the Connecticut Real Estate Investors Association people and he lived up to everything everyone said about him. His price matched his work.
