Stone & Gravel reviews in Old Saybrook

Went great. Thought the price was a little high comparatively, but they got good ratings on Angie's List, so we went with them. After completion, there was a problem with drainage due to an outdoor shower. Called Drini and he actually came out the next day. He devised a way to correct the issue and did all the work with no added cost to us. He is really a man who stands by his work and takes pride in his work. Would highly recommend him.

The contract was to build 125? of stone wall in two sections of 108? + 17? with owner supplied wall stone for $7,800 + $200 for a gravel base.  Both John and Ryan as the principals of 345 Stone inspected the owner supplied stone and accepted it as suitable for the stone wall more than 4 months before the start of the project.

However, after signing the contract, but before the start of construction, we agreed to reduce the overall length by 10' from 125' to 115', as 98' + 17'.  At that time Ryan of 345 Stone said there would definitely be enough stone for the project based on the 10' reduction and we would net-out the reduced cost in the final payment.  I was Ok with this arrangement.  But after about ten days into the project Ryan said the it would be short of stone and it needed another 30 yards of stone.  He brought three samples for my approval and I reluctantly agreed to the additional 30 yds of stone.  Thereafter, I paid $603 for 30 yards of stone that was not needed, which is the same amount of excess stone sitting in my yard ? see photo.

I can understand that errors of calculation can occur.   But in this instance I was told by 345 Stone that I had enough stone, both at the start of the project and after the total length was reduced by 10? from 125? to 115?.  Then I was told I needed 30 yards more stone.  So, I want to be reimbursed for the $603 I paid 345 Stone for stone I did not need.  On payment of the $603 345 Stone may have the 30 yds of stone in my yard.   Also, with the reduction of 10' in total wall length I overpaid 345 Stone by $624 for the 10' of wall it did not build.  We discussed this item when the length of the project was changed and I mistakenly overpaid 345 Stone for work it did not perform.    So, I am looking for a total of $1,227 in reimbursement, i.e. $603 + $624, plus related court costs.

Lastly, in the completed job there are voids at the base of the wall where 345 Stone did not place stone, but should have done so.  I have been filing the voids left by 345 Stone.  I am so fed-up with them I will not allow them back on the property.
