Worker bees were very messy. Rather than going above and across under the floor of the deck they dug a ditch. The deck is above the area so it certainly would have made more sense to drill through the wood and go down the post. They made a horrible mess with the dirt. They buried a rake that was there and a bag of ant killer. The electrical needed to pass inspection since the inspector was coming the next day so I had to put the dirt back in the ditch myself as well as around the pool. A lot of work for a woman in her 60's. They said they'd have to charge more if they came back to do that. Also, they were very vague in their explanations about the controls.

Excellent. Chris was very patient and thorough, he went above and beyond what I hired him for. I would hire him again in a heartbeat as well as recommend him to all my friends. I purchased a new pool pump which required a licensed electrician to place the electrical cord as well as the ground wire.

I wish I hired him to inspect my home before buying, as he was able to catch a lot of issues missed by my inspector. He quickly came to the house and fixed my dryer's faulty electrical wiring. I plan to use him again for many other projects I have planned. Very happy with his service. He even gives a military discount :)

Professional, punctual and quality price and work. Greg was polite and knowledge, great ideas on what could be done to enhance the project while keeping the cost in mind. He is able to get the higher quality fixtures without the higher prices. He works fast and never stopped. He is willing to do extra jobs that other electricians don't want to do. Install ceiling fans, etc.. We like that he is from Windham County and went to trade school in New London County. We like supporting our local business man. Greg will keep you informed if problems are found in the wall and his goal is safety, his work is exceptional as he knows his name his name always reflects on the quality of his work being the business owner.

I first contacted Chris Calkins early in December of 2014 to discuss the scope of work and get an estimate. I received the estimate on the 15th and on the 16th gave him the go-ahead. We decided to include under-cabinet lighting which was not in the original proposal, to be priced out later.

Chris arrived on the 16th  with another master electrician and an apprentice and they commenced work. They re-wired the dryer, installed overhead light cans, ran the rough wiring for separate outlets and new switches. We provided the light cans which turned out to be the wrong type (we purchased new work cans instead of old work). Chris had the correct type cans and used them, allowing us to replace them after we had exchanged the wrong ones.

We scheduled the service upgrade (200 amp) to be done on the 30th of Jan. Unfortunately it snowed and snowed and then snowed some more, preventing the upgrade. The problem was that new ground rods had to be installed and by this time there was at least 3 ft of drifted snow. Not having the new service panel caused the rest of the kitchen wiring work to be delayed.

In April the snow melted allowing the service upgrade to be done. The transfer switch and distribution panel were installed the first week of April. It was mid July before other contractors had completed their work (flooring, sheetrock, cabinet installation, etc.) allowing Calkins Electric to continue.

On 24 July Chris installed the switches and outlets in the kitchen, and said he?s ready for the appliances to be delivered.

The first week of August was very productive. The under-counter lighting was installed along with two 4? ceiling fixtures. Wiring was connected to the power panel and the lights were powered up and the outlet for the refrigerator was installed. We discovered that the pendant lights we ordered were incorrect and had to be re-ordered, another delay.

On August 28th the building inspector informed me that an additional outlet was required. On the 1st I called Chris and let him know about new outlet requirement.

The 17th of September was the milestone day for the electrical work. Chris with an apprentice and another master electrician were very busy completing the remainder of the work. They connected the double oven, cooktop  and range hood. The 30 amp connector was connected to the transfer switch, the two exterior outlets and new counter outlet were installed.  Chris installed the two pendant lights and new chandelier.

I explained to Chris what we were looking for in under-cabinet lighting and he explained the options and prices. I gave him a price range and was very happy with his selection.

I would NOT hesitate to use Calkins Electric for any additional work. He was extremely tolerant and understanding of our scheduling issues. Working with him and his TEAM was a pleasure. He and his crew were very professional and kept the work area clean and tidy. I highly recommend them for any electrical work you may need.

We have used Ray in the past for previous work. When we upgraded our current water tank to a tankless water heater ... we called Ray. As always, very flexible to meet our scheduling needs, neat and very friendly. While doing the job .. he also noticed an issue with our electrical box which he took the time to point out and fix so that we would not have any further issues in our future.
Wonderful to work with, highly recommend!!!

Ray was incredible to work with! He returned my call the same day and took time to come out to my home and give me a written estimate of his work ... very detailed! I knew exactly what was being installed and when. He confirmed that everything was to code for the town requirements. The pool installers kept postponing the installation of the pool and Ray was very flexible with his schedule to meet our needs.
Afterwards, he took the time to walk my husband and I through all the work that he did and explained every thing that was done and why. Excellent communication, cleaned up after his work and friendly. I would recommend him to anyone looking for an electrician. He restored my faith in contractors! I would never use another one.

Ray Pierson came to the house and gave me a quote shortly after I first contacted him. He kept me up to date on the status of material he had to order so I would know when installation would take place. He performed the installation as expected in one day. The only extra was when Ray noticed our ground rod was not to code and he fixed that as well.
The price for the work and material was at or below what I was expecting.
I would definitely utilize Ray's services again.
