    Think Hypnosis
"Think Hypnosis" Joe Vicente -- Glastonbury, CT B.S. in Psychology M.B.A (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)) DHP. Acc.Hyp. It is a pleasure to work with Joe Vicente as my hypno_therapist. First of all, he has gone out of his way to make me feel comfortable, and his technique has made me feel so relaxed that I had no problem with visualization. I also was surprised at how much time went by while he had me under. We spent a lot of time talking, even before going through the hypnosis session, which also helped in the relaxation technique, and he showed a lot of knowledge regarding my problem and we went through a discussion on how to take care of it. His price per session is also extremely reasonable, I have absolutely no problem with that, plus I believe Joe was definitely "the man for the job" so to speak. I am very happy with his results and would recommend him for hypnotherapy.

Quan Yin Healing Arts Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal
I have been going to Karen at Quan Yin for over 3 years. I can say that she saved my life (my quality of life). I have suffered from migraines for over 20 years, trying literally every known treatment from medications, seeing a chiropractor, Botox injections you name it. Very little helped. As a last hope I tried acupuncture and slowly it helped to the point where I am barely getting one headache every 6 months now. I wish I had tried it first. I continue to go back for tune ups when I need to. Karen is an extremely professional, caring and talented practitioner. She makes you feel very comfortable. I highly recommend Karen for your treatment needs.

Quan Yin Healing Arts Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal
Karen Borla is a highly skilled, kind, gentle , down to earth practitioner. Her office environment is very relaxing and welcoming. She is also very easy to talk to. I would recommend Quan Yin Healing Arts to anyone interested in trying acupuncture treatment for the first time or those seeking another practitioner. Although I received pain relief from the other 2 practitioners I visited, Karen's practice was the best. I believe that acupuncture will be much more effective if you are truly relaxed during the process and have confidence in the practitioner. Quan Yin Healing Arts definitely provides those conditions.

    Didomizio, Dr. Paul M.
Dr. Domizio saved his life when his primary care physician couldn't get him a much needed MRI. Dr. Dimizio listened to my concerns and got the life saving MRI approved. The result was an infection in his back.

    Musculoskeletal Health Centers
This is the best kept secret. They provide personal training 3x/week for $70 a month. Yes that is not a typo. I heard about them from a friend of mine who has been going there since October. I went for the first time today. Spent an hour with Dr Michael Ijomah. He personally does all the training. He is a chiropractor and has a small gym (which they are expanding) in his office. Having suffered from back issues in the past and had tons of Physical therapy I know how important form is. Not only did he first do an assessment similar to what a physical therapist does he watched and made corrections to every exercise I did. He takes the time to explain not only how to do the exercise but why it is important and what muscles it works. He loves what he does and it shows in his enthusiasm. The rates are ridicously cheap. I had a hard time believing my friend until I went to him myself. I cannot say enough.

    Thiele Chiropractic Life Center
Bottom line is that when it comes to my back, I am very picky. The last time I had hurt my back, I was very afraid to see any chiropractor so I waited 4 months before seeing my old chiropractor who lives in Las Vegas. So when I hurt my back this time around, I did not want to wait to go to Las Vegas, so I registered for Angie's list and found Dr. Thiele. Unfortunately, there weren't many reviews, but the ones he had were positive so I figured I would give him a shot. When you are in pain, what else are you going to do? I couldn't walk, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't do anything. If you have suffered from a back injury, you will understand the pain I was in.     Getting an appointment was very easy. The initial consultation was cheap. He waives the initial x-rays and visit as long as you sign up for his package. I know it might sound expensive, for the amount of treatment you get, its very reasonable. When I hurt my back the last time, I spent more than what Dr. Thiele charged. He also takes insurances, my insurance sucked so I paid out of pocket. If I had to do it again, I would in a heart beat.     The only problem I had with Dr. Thiele was the office hours. He is closed on Fridays. But I once had a emergency and called him late on a Thursday night after hours. He provides a cell phone and I talked directly to him. Even though his office was closed, he open the office so that I could see him the next day. You cannot imagine how much that meant to me.

    Jesse Eisler MD,PHD
Dr. Eisler, his Physician's Assistant Jon Szydlo, and I believe it was their assistant Lisa (sorry - no last name), were all extremely excellent. They carefully examined the x-rays I supplied (coming from one of the chiropractors I'd already consulted) and told me in no uncertain terms that my back was in very good shape for someone my age (early 60's). Dr. Eisler in fact said he could not discern from the x-rays whether they showed the back of a 35 year-old or someone in their 60's. They told me that they could not actually directly help me, which in fact gave me a great sense of their integrity and the honesty of their response. We then had a very detailed discussion about exactly what and how I did my various exercises and stretches (averaging probably 45 minutes a day). They listened very solicitously and we spent what I felt was a reasonable time, without a sense that the three of them needed to rush off to see people with "real" problems. They in no way doubted my symptoms, nor questioned my issues, but they told me to just keep doing what I was doing since my symptoms were in fact largely controlled by my regular exercising (they were in fact quite admiring of the regimen I'd developed on my own over the years). What they did do was recommend some slight changes in weights, exercise repetitions, and motions to my regimen. In addition, per my speculation that my problems perhaps stemmed from my muscles over-tightening, Mr. Szydlo wrote me a prescription for a mild muscle relaxant (the pills not helping, but it showed he was listening and we did eliminate that particular guess of mine as to the source of the problem). Long story short, I tried some of their adaptations which in fact have been most helpful in addressing exactly my neck problem and even made my exercise regimen a bit less taxing. For me, I had someone carefully listening and clearly providing me exactly the service I asked for and needed at what I considered a quite reasonable price (three expert medical professionals for 20 minutes at something over $100). Even though all I saw them for was a consultation, per the other recommendations I've seen for Dr. Eisler and his office, I really cannot recommend them too highly. James S., PhD

    Beebe, Dr. Roy D
He was a surgeon that did not jump immediately for the surgical option. He encouraged a second opinion before surgery, and was quick to work me into his schedule on short notice. He is old school and very competent with the knife. He works in a single physician practice with a light load and a nurse on staff to answer questions. Down sides are the usual ones for specialist, myopic to a certain degree, (sees everything in terms of the most common causes for people to see him.) And he does not take a lot of time to hear your life's story.
