    All work was done on time and within budget. The owner, M. Silva, was always on the job to oversee the work and make sure it was done properly. There was great attention to detail. Rather than reinstall the old flimsy closet rods, he proposed a redesign of the closet rods & shelves to replace the old rods that used to collapse. Now the closet really works like a closet and I don’t have to guess how many items I can hang before it falls. I highly recommend Maycom Carpentry for quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. They will get the job done to perfection.

    I purchased 14 double-hung windows, front door, storm door and shutters. The trim package covering previous window trim ties it all together and was the most important part of the work. In order to install aluminum trim over old wood brick molding, all wood was checked and replaced where necessary. Leon, our installer, demonstrated great skill and patience doing this thoroughly. Patching wood trim was the most time-consuming part of the job, but showed his excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail. The front door is fiberglass and beautiful. Amazing how much difference having light coming into the hall makes. Closes easily. Hardware is excellent quality, locks easily. Storm door is lovely and better quality than any I've had or even seen before. It's an antique red, not just white, and ties together the color scheme with shutters and trim. The trim around the door shows it off well and was well done. The door is wood-grained both inside and out. They replaced inside trim around the door. New trim was stained at factory to match door. Very good job. Enhances new door. Outside aluminum around doors also highlights doors. Five people complimented the doors in the first 24 hours! To do a complete job, they also covered trim on other doors not replaced. The entire house has an updated look. I notice the temperature control with the new windows already and they are quieter, as well as the quality overall and ease of use. Leon even came up with pieces to snap into my windows with window AC units to keep the windows tight, eliminating the need for brackets below. He is very handy, but the most pleasant part of working with him is he is VERY polite, a rarity these days. They cleaned up well every day. It took three days to complete and I am happier with the job than I could have expected. My house is tighter than it's ever been. Peoples Products did an excellent job!

    I was extremely impressed with Robert. Not only did he come in with the lowest estimate of 3 estimates he was easy to work with. He was willing to bounce ideas back and forth and was willing to work with products and finishes I wanted whereas another contractor would only give me 5 choices of finishes to work with. I really felt my opinion was heard and that I was an integral part of the entire process.
    I am very happy with the finished product and will have his company back next year to redo my entire kitchen.

    The work was estimated and some initial work began before I actually moved here, so a lot of coordination was necessary during the early phase of the job, and working with Aimee and Wes (they are the "A" and "W" in the company name) during this time went extremely well. When the worked actually started and was performed, Wes was always punctual, is very professional and friendly. He was great about communicating with me during every phase of the job, was open to ideas and very flexible with regard to some minor adjustments we made along the way. When there were decisions to be made, the ideas he brought to the table were great, showed creativity, and were truly welcomed. He is a real pleasure to work with. The quality of the job was outstanding, and Wes' commitment to superior quality and customer satisfaction is evident.

    It didn't work out very well.  He didn't do a very good job.  The painting was substandard.  The workmanship on the carpentry work was bad.  My deck looks terrible.  I had to repaint the whole thing again this year after having it done last year.  He was way over on his labor price.  I told him that he didn't put the hours that he said he would put in.  He took out his calculator and jacked up the rate to reach the same number.  He was recommended by a good friend of my wife because he had done a lot of work for them.  He had charged them over $100,000 for the work.  It was a lot of money.  He wanted the money upfront from me.  I'm a builder and I know the business.  I gave him $5000 to start, but he constantly kept asking for money.  If you're in business for long enough you have enough money to fall back on; you don't take the customer’s money upfront and do the job.  He ran out of primer so he kept on painting at places without the primer.  He was agitated every time I complained, so I kept my mouth shut.  I put primer myself and repainted some of it this year.  He didn't wash the roof properly, so I ended up washing it again.  He didn't do a very good job of it.  He missed a whole lot of it.  He had to buy a machine to do some work.  Then he came back not knowing how to run the machine.  That was funny.  Being a builder I asked him to do it in a certain way.  He had actually done it before, but I had to show him how to do it.  He did the ceiling, and I supervised a little bit of it.  The leak is pretty much invisible now.  Nobody would notice it.

    A great deal was done reasonably well. Unfortunately a great deal was NOT .  Within three months , in some cases less , the following began to show up : the stain and even the sealer came off random bits of floor and every threshold leading outside , the white paint which is in most rooms yellowed , the electric provided me w/dimming and flickering in my bedroom if I ever plugged in more than two bedside lamps and every plug in the basement other than ones for the washer/dryer blew out permanently and I can watch TV only because I've snaked an extra long extension cord from the 1st floor to the basement where the TV is , the top sashes of the $ 3,000 a piece custom windows do not lower - and I was not consulted about this and when I discovered it and protested I was told that in the 1700's the top sash did not lower which is NONSENSE - we have plenty of weather here in New England that makes it more than just convenient to be able to lower the top sash of a window - and we did back in the 18th century too , the window for the full beth downstairs , when viewed from the outside looks as though it was installed and painted forty years ago , not three : cracking peeling paint falling off all over the place ,  and though the water heating was discussed and I made it clear that I was willing to buy new equipment I was encouraged to keep an  " on demand " about which it can be said " You can demand . But it won't necessarily be given to you ."  Not having a reliable continuous source of hot water in a  New England winter when you have severe rheumatoid arthritis and a host of other health problems is SUCH a joy . The punch list I discussed REPEATEDLY with Brian Cooper , the owner of this company , was never gone through . Not even the first item : fixing splashes of paint , little blobs and so forth around the house . As for the generous splashes of paint on the window glass outside and in  , Mr. Cooper once again told me that this was the way things were done in the 1700s . My response once again was " Brian that just isn't so ."  Of course we are dealing with the guy who obliged me to move in FOUR months later than a) I might have and b) I was promised I could because when the plumbers he had contracted for this job had just started on my baths he snatched them away to another job and refused to bring them back .  I agreed to pay for a third of the cost of creating a small bump-up in the ceiling above the shower head in the upstairs bath - all of which became necessary when one of his incompetent minions failed to MEASURE , leaving me with a shower head that hit me at nose level . I am five ft five . I would have had to shower in a permanent crouch.  I should have insisted Mr. Cooper pay for the whole thing but I made that agreement and I will stick to it and pay him the $3,000. or so I owe him . The minute he fixes ALL of the gross errors listed above . In the meantime may I suggest that anyone thinking of a historical restoration run screaming in the opposite direction from Early New England Restorations AND Brian Cooper and his "custom"  millwork company Deschenes and Cooper .  It's quite bad enough to rip off me and my father , who spent a huge amount of money on all this , virtually every penny we had before the crash , but to do it when your principal employer ( ME) is chronically severely ill , which pretty much guarantees that if your sorry butt IS ever dragged into court , IF this chronically ill person is ever WELL enough to do so and somehow scrapes together the cash to do so , who knows when IT WILL BE . ...THAT'S JUST LOW .
