9 Easy Tips to Keep Your Carpet Looking New

Carpet Cleaning reviews in Newtown

    On Time Carpet

It was a disaster from the get go.  It was so bad, that we have considered dropping Angie's List altogether.  First, we were under the impression that the vendors in this district of Angie's List were from Connecticut, specifically Fairfield County.  These people came from Brooklyn NY.  I did not find this out until the day they were coming.  I couldn't fathom how a bunch of carpet cleaners from Brooklyn were going to cover their costs doing a job in Newtown for $139.  The answer is they can't and we must bear some of the responsibility.  My wife made the arrangements. The deal was $139 to clean all your carpets or certain amount of square feet of them.  My wife did not take note of the caveat and to be fair, they were up front about it, we missed it.  Nevertheless, when they arrived they told me the additional carpet cleaning would cost more.  I instructed them solely to clean what was covered for $139.  I pointed out two stains.  They quoted me a price to remove the stains.  I forgot what it was, but I thought it too high.  I thanked them but said to clean what is covered by the $139 offer and no more.  Naturally they were looking to upsell me for how else could they justify a trip to Newtown CT from Brooklyn NY.  I kept politely declining, but they made what appeared to be an attractive counter offer.  They said they would clean everything for $300.  I asked, all the carpets and the stains.  They said yes.  While I was not happy I thought it fair.  I would get the whole house clean and the stains for more than the $139 deal, but far less than their earlier quotes.  What I did not realize until I agreed and the job was done, was that my wife already paid the $139 before work had begun.  It wasn't $300 total, it was $300 on top of the $139 that was already paid unbeknownst to me.  Look the carpets were clean.  I can't say they didn't do a good job.  I can say, that I could have done the same job by renting a machine at my supermarket for $100.  Instead, I paid almost $500.  Part of this was our fault.  My wife and I did not communicate clearly, however, they were relentless in their upsell.  Beware the teaser deals:  If the rate seems to good to be true it probably is.  Now we triple check to make sure any vendors are from Connecticut and we will no longer avail ourselves to any deal that requires any upfront payment.  If you live in Brooklyn and want a good carpet cleaner go ahead and call these folks, but there is no good reason to have them come to Connecticut.  They will look to sell you additional services that may or may not be of value, but you are not getting way with the $139 deal without an aggressive effort to compel you to purchase more services.  Beware.

By the way, I threw out my receipt in disgust.  I do not remember the precise date of service but I believe it was in February or March of this year.

Heaven's Best Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning
Very pleasant and knowledgeable. Discussed the pro's and con's of different cleaning methods. Drove twenty miles to my house with an assistant and worked for 1 1/2 hours. Kevin gave me the Angie's list 10% discount and a small bottle of carpet cleaner. Most important the carpets look great with no residue feel.

    Ziegler Preservation Cleaning Specialists
Cleaned area rugs, which we dropped off and picked up.  Cleaning process was described and the condition of the rugs reviewed.  Owner was very responsive to my questions. Rugs were ready when promised and were noticeably cleaner.  Some needed repair work on one of the rugs was well done. Very professional service and quality work.

I work for a family in Newtown and was asked by the owner of the property to have 4 spots cleaned by another company which did a horrible job and damaged a Wool rug.  I called All Purpose Cleaners to try and correct the damage.  I spoke to Ceaer on the phone and explained the problem.  They told me that there were no guarantees that the damage could be correct but would come out and do the best they could.  As it turned out the Chem-Dry company I use damaged the carpet and there was nothing that could be done.  I plan to use this company in the future.  They were professional in every aspect.

I oversee a property for a family in Newtown.  The owner of the home ask that I get a couple of spots cleaned.  Since the owner has always had a good experience with Chem-Dry he ask that I get someone in to clean just the 4 spots.  We had used another company which I found out was no longer in business.  I called Ace Chem-Dry by Nimer Brothers when I spoke on the phone to the young lady I had informed her that I was looking for someone to come out and spot clean a Wool carpet and was told that they work with wool.  On the day of service something told me to just sent the service person out of the house, he was not professionally dressed when I gave him a pair of booty's to put on he laughed and when he left the house he wore them to his truck and attempted to wear them back into the house.   Days later I noticed that the spots were worst than before and larger.  I called the company to have them come back out and repair the problem and at the home owners request ask that the owner of the company come out to correct  the job.  On the day of their return not only did the owner come out but it was the same person who preformed the original service.  The owner of the home spoke to the serviceman and asked if knew this was wool the serviceman responded that he did and when the owner of the home asked the serviceman if he used the proper products on the carpet the serviceman said "it doesn't matter what you use they all clean the same".  At this point the owner of the home told him that yes it did matter and he had ruined the rug which at this point the serviceman told the owner that  "these are clean spots and the rest of the rug is dirty":  and got argumentative with the owner of the home when the owner pointed out the the spots the serviceman cleaned were darker than the rest of the rug and the serviceman kept insisting that his work was properly performed and the rest of the rug needed cleaning .  At this point the owner of the home asked for his insurance company's information and asked the serviceman to leave his home.  I since called another company I found on Angie's List, who came out to try to repair the rug by steam cleaning it to find out that the Ace Chem-Dry damaged the carpet .  We have had the owner of the home's insurance company come out as well as a restoration company to find out that 3000 square feet of carpet needs to be completely replaced.   I learned a very valuable lesson use Angie's List in the future.

We normally rent our own carpet cleaner and clean our carpets ourselves, but we decided to try a professional service. A very good experience. We have two young kids and a dog, so our carpets get a lot of wear and tear. Red Baron representative showed up at 9am and worked until 1:30pm. High traffic areas were treated and cleaned until the representative was satisfied with the result (high traffic areas cleaned multiple times). Very professional and punctual. Service representative explained all steps of the process and walked us through the house to inspect the result. 100% improvement over cleaning carpets yourself. Outstanding results. The carpets look new. I'm probably not qualified to comment on price because I did not get competitive price quotes. I'm sure there are cheaper services offered, but I wonder if the quality of service might suffer at a lower price (i.e. Red Baron equipment is truck mounted, which I assume provides better heat and suction vs. a portable machine that you rent or other service providers use).

CleenCarpet came in and removed every stain. The rugs looked better that new when he left. I was very impressed. They even got the fudge brownie stain out of the bedroom rug. I highly recommend this company.
