Very timely and efficient workers. Bill was quite honest and realistic about what could be done in our old and extremely leaky house. I appreciate his GREAT communication on the scope of the project, the limit of the effectiveness of the work to be done, the timing and time frame for the work also.

Dirk started the job of renovating in November of 2013. He did everything from removing all wallpaper from the walls, mold treatment , repainting with special paint to keep the mold from returning, to finishing the ceilings, to taking all of the windows ( 8) out, stripping repainting, repositioning, redoing the kitchenette from top to bottom, renovating both bathrooms, replacing part of the ceiling, cleaning the chimney, refinishing the mantelpiece, putting on new chimney caps, renovating all doors, replacing part of an outdoor door frame, putting on a new gutter, power washing the cottage, painting/putting up new shutters, fixing the siding, insulating the water pipes and small cupboard where they come into the structure... It took him a year to finish the whole structure. Mind you he did all the work himself. He does/did not have a crew of workers with him. Dirk works meticulously. His work is of an outstanding quality, no cutting corners anywhere, which sometimes may take longer timewise, but the end result is top notch and will not need any retouching for at least a couple of years. I highly recommend him, especially if you want a top quality job. There are very few things that Dirk is not able to provide.  I will most certainly hire him for future jobs, whether it will be for outside work or inside work.

Their service was very good.  Everyone I talk to I tell them how great they did.  They were very respectful of the property and very courteous.  I was very impressed with them.

They determined all the areas that I was losing energy.  They made quite a number of recommendations.  They also blocked a few holes on their own while they were here.  From their suggestions I have hired a company to put some insulation in for me.  I was able to do it with a 3 year loan at 0%.  They put in the insulation and it was wonderful.  It alone will save me plenty as far as heating the house.  Downstairs, they recommended having the holes blocked in the foundation.  I know that will make a big difference this winter.  They also had talked about changing my refrigerator to one that is more energy efficient.  I was able to get a rebate on both the things I had done.  This all came through for the fact that I applied to have solar panels.  Solar City sent the company to me free of charge.  I now have the panels up and I am waiting for my final inspection.  I know I spent a little money but it was well worth it and I am planning for the future.

The delays were not due to the contractor but to Lowes being a month late getting in the the flooring. Once the wood came in, the installation went forward smoothly and fast, the wall was repainted, trim put back in and caulked. Most of the furniture was replaced as requested. Steve does very good work and manages the complications of other trandmen having to get in. We certainly trust him with our house and will certainly use his services again as needed My only issue was that the site was not left as clean as I expected; it was a very messy job. Left  over flooring was left in crawl space, which I only discovered when putting dehumidifiers away. Not a bad thing, just a surprise and something for me to deal with.

We started out by meeting with four contractors (two from Angie's list and two from family recommendations) for estimates. Leo from Woodland was, by far, the most personable and reasonable of the four. He was the only contractor who listened to what we wanted and told us what would work within our budget. Instead of blindly agreeing with everything we said, he made suggestions based on his extensive knowledge and experience, providing us with options we hadn't considered before. He even gave us the opportunity to cut down on costs by doing some of our own demolition and by purchasing some of our materials on our own. When designing our kitchen remodel, Leo even came down to the store with us to give us advice and to explain some of the features being offered. He doesn't skimp when it comes to quality materials or quality work. Our remodel ended up being a lot more work than originally anticipated, but Leo called us right away and explained what needed to be done and why. In our bathroom, because of the tub we chose to install, Leo and his team had to remove and replace all of the plumbing in the column. After removing all the Sheetrock and insulation, we found mold in the framing, so one of our bathroom walls needed to be entirely reframed as well. The bathroom renovation included moving plumbing for sink, tub, and toilet, installing a window in the shower, tiling the shower, installing tub, toilet and pedestal sink with extremely tight plumbing, replacing ceiling light and fan, installing a medicine cabinet with mirror, and installing all fixtures including lights, towel bars, grab bar, faucets and knobs, and shower rod. Leo took a moldy, poorly designed bathroom and transformed it into a sleek, clean, and elegant bathroom which properly utilizes the limited space. When it came to the kitchen, Leo pulled up a pretty nasty subfloor and set beautiful hardwood flooring down, seamlessly blending it existing hardwood flooring throughout the house. He and his team installed our kitchen cabinets very skillfully, even with our substantially uneven walls and floors. He moved a window to accommodate our cabinet choices, installed recessed lighting with a dimmer switch, installed a skylight to add more natural light, resized a gigantic kitchen entryway to accommodate seating, and moved the electrical for our stove and refrigerator to give us a more open and functional kitchen design. He was with us every step of the way, including delivery and installation of our countertop, to make sure everything was done to his high standards. After seeing his work in the kitchen and bathroom, we decided to have him and his team fix up the rest of our house. This included adding access to the attic from the hallway, patching holes in some of our walls, repairing and replacing trim and molding, installing two new baseboard heaters, sanding or replacing baseboard covers, and painting everything from walls to ceilings to trim to baseboard covers. Because of the moving the window in the kitchen, Leo had to replace some outside siding. After some research, he found that the only company to carry this siding was based out of Long Island and that company didn't ship. He took a day and drove out to Long Island to get us the perfect match, even purchasing a little extra for some jobs we had mentioned wanting to do in the future. He made countless trips to the store to pick up things that we forgot to order, always with a smile. Leo and his team were an absolute pleasure to work with. He and his team are kind, thoughtful, hardworking, and extremely professional. They take a great deal of pride in their work and are not satisfied until the customer is thrilled. My husband and I could not be happier with our entire experience with Leo. We will certainly be calling him again for future jobs (or maybe for a beer ?). No worries, no sugar free gummy bears here!

All of the repair work was great (foundation, drainage, etc) and they did everything in the remodel - floors, ceilings, walls, two new windows in the basement and new doors. I decided to paint it myself to save some money. I feel very satisfied with the work and my kids can play down there safely now. The only thing was that I added work by building the playroom and that took longer than I expected but it was worth it on the end.

    Brown Roofing Inc.
I utilized the team at Brown Roofing company for some work that I needed done last October. We had some roof damage from a snow storm last winter and the guys at Brown were able to successfully complete these repairs. The team at Brown did really great work and were very professional. Another great thing about Brown was that they were very reasonably priced. I would use the team at Brown roofing again in the future.

It was amazing to watch our house transform from a boring ranch to a beautiful farmhouse. We were amazed at the level of skill the workers had and their attention to detail was amazing. The house was re-configured to allow a hallway from where the only full bath was in the house to the new master suite. The master suite has a barn shaped ceiling vaulted to 16 feet at peak. It is an amazing entrance to a beautifully designed master bedroom. The bathroom has a gorgeous half moon window above the whirlpool tub. The shower connects with clear glass to the tub and includes a seat in the shower. Finally, we added a front porch to the house and is our very favorite part! We love to sit and watch the kids play in the yard or ride their bikes while we take a break and relax.
