    Gunderson Flooring and Design
Working with Jay Gunderson, the owner, was an excellent experience. He was very prompt, courteous, and responsive with questions. The process, overall, was seamless. He also made sound recommendations for me to consider, on options for refinishing, and materials to use. I highly recommend. My hardwood floors, kitchen, and entry way tile turned out beautifully.

    Hallas Associates LLC
AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR. I hired Gordon Hallas to do some siding repairs and structural support on the house. A price was quoted and an invoice sent to pay 50% deposit. Project was completed 75% and Gordon said he wasn't aware I wanted all planters were to be demolished. (this was a tactic to charge more, because who would leave 1 planter out of four intact, continuing future water damage??) I refused to pay until he agreed the whole patio was to be completed as discussed. Since he was going to purchase more pavers we then discussed paving a front terrace and side terrace. he sent an invoice that included a breakdown of 3 amounts - 1 sum due now for bluestone pavers, 1 sum due at completion of front terrace and 1 sum due at completion of side terrace. I paid for the stone in full which I now considered my property. Work started late. then he said pavers were delayed. then there was a storm in his area that caused damage (mind you he used the storm excuse for 2 weeks while he took on other jobs.) Finally I threatened to cancel and he sent workers. Stones on side terrace were laid completely crooked and the ground was not levels so they sloped terribly, and the worker argued with me for an hour that is wasn't. Gordon was no where to be found - never visited the job site, rarely took calls. He finally got back to me saying that the pavers were crooked and that he would fix the next day and install the pergola we agreed on. The next day came and went. He never told me the workers would not show due to weather (a drizzle, meanwhile all other workers on my property from other firms showed up in that weather.) The next day his workers did some work, not all, and made a huge mess on my property with the dirt they were adding to level the ground (many plants died, smothered by this dirt). Frustrated, I told Gordon when he arrived that he had 1 more day to complete this or I would cancel and take action. He asked me to sign some documents he had with him and I told him I would, but in this case I needed to review with my attorney before signing, considering the problems we are facing. I went inside and when I returned his workers were gone and he stole all of the $4k worth of pavers I paid for and owned. His invoices say work completed within 1 week on all projects. We are now 1 1/2 months in and he stole my deposits and property. AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR.

Would give my highest recommendation to Andy and the All Hardwood Floors team. They just completed the work and it is absolutely top notch. Highly professional and responsive throughout the process. Andy made himself available over phone, text or in person to answer all my questions along the way.

    Cirika Inc
Ciro is a perfectionist at his trade and it shows in the quality of the installation. I've received comments from contractors and friends about how great a tile job Ciro did on the floor and in the bathroom. One contractor even told me that it is the best tile job he has seen in a long time. Ciro took his time to measure the floor to the exact inch so that the tiles would be perfectly straight across the entire room. He took his time and did not rush and still worked within a quick timeframe to complete the job. I am very happy with the work Ciro did in my house and I recommend him to everyone I know. I thought the value I received was great compared to the quality of work Ciro did.

    Top Hammer Construction Corp
Mike Miller was wonderful to work with on our large project which included a number of the unexpected problems and obstacles that often happen when working on an older house. He takes obvious pride in his work. Through all phases from estimate to demolition to job management to finishing, Mike was professional, skilled, punctual, and courteous. He did a great job hiring good subcontractors and overseeing their projects and schedules. We've lived with our project results for a couple of years and have been very satisfied.

Juliano Gloria of Fairfield Hardwood Floors is an AMAZING!!  His work is SPECTACULAR!  Nothing had been done to our floors for over a decade, and we have two dogs that we got as puppies.  The floors were destroyed!!  Juliano's work was really beautiful, his price was very fair and he is a really nice guy, very polite and shows up on time and left the house very neat.  I can't wait to do the rest of my house!  Even my real estate agent said this was the best work he had ever seen.

    Floor Coverings International

This flooring company sanded my kitchen floors, buffed them, vacuumed the fine sand up, cleaned them, stained them in day one.  Prior to staining, they showed us several sample patches where different colors were applied so that we could pick the one we wanted. They put down a poly sealer on day two which dries quickly.  One hour later, they applied a layer of poly.  On day 3, they came in and buffed the floor, vacuumed, patched, inspected, cleaned and put down the last layer of poly.  Just before the last poly, they removed all of the protective plastic that was taped to all exposed areas, like cabinets, doorways, cupboards, appliances, closet items, etc.  On the fourth day, they arrived right away to help inspect, touch up, talk about floor care and help us get back into the room with a few things.  We did not put heavy items back in for another day.  All in all, I could not use my kitchen for three days.  I could not move furniture back in for four days.

I felt the whole process went very well.  The contract was very detailed and understandable.  The price was wonderful, only around 2.25 per square foot plus tax.  The punctuality and responsiveness of all the employees and the owner was top notch.  The product was matched to my existing floors in the next room and the color ended up being perfect.  They used an oil based poly for much longer wear.

For anyone considering this process, just beware that no matter which company you choose (and I would heartily recommend this one) the fumes will be quite harsh for the two days that poly is put down, even with loads of protective layers for the doors.  The heating has to stay on during the winter months, so it traveled throughout the house in the system.  We had to sleep at a friend's house for those two nights.  In warmer months you can open your windows to the other parts of the house.  You can't open the windows in the room where the poly is going down or it will stir up the sanding on the walls and plastic drop cloths and ruin your finish.

I feel that at every stage of the process, this company and its employee acted professionally, considerately and skillfully. AAA+++

    Five Star Flooring
Ricardo and his workers did an excellent job. Since I am sensitive to chemicals and dust, it was well worth the additional cost to use a dustless sander and water-based poly. Ricardo went to a lot of extra effort to demonstrate on areas of the floor how the different stain colors would look. He also recommended changing the metal a/c duct grates in the floor to flush-fitted wooden grates, stained to match the floor. Not cheap, but they make an enormous difference in the finished product. I am very happy how the floors turned out & would use 5 Star again.

    Knock on Wood Floors
The whole process was extremely positive. He came the next day to estimate the job. He arrived on time and provided an estimate right on the spot and was able to begin work the next day. The job was completed on time and the quality of the work was top notch. We were so pleased with his work that we asked him to do crown molding, paint, and general carpentry for us in order to completely finish our newly purchased vacation home. He arrived on time every day until the job was done. He was personally there to do and supervise all work and made sure that the house was spotless each day. I would hire him again without hesitation and would highly recommend Knock On Wood Floors.
