"My appointment went great. First you are greeted at the main desk and ask to sign in. About 10 minutes later an assistant called me back and preformed some " test. She then put drops in my eyes to dilate them. It takes about 25 minutes for your eyes to dilate. Next I saw Dr . He did the best eye exam I have ever had! He has a very good bedside manner

-Debra B.

"Dr. Peck is one of the most personable, kind, truly concerned doctors I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The surgery went perfectly" and my eyes look great! I highly recommend her and if I ever need an eye specialist again, she will definitely be my choice. Everyone at the office is very helpful and very kind. It was a pleasure dealing with them all.

Eye exam

Quite literally meaning "the science of the eyes." ophthalmology studies the way the eye works. Ophthalmologists care for this incredibly complex and delicate part of the body and the factors that affect its health.

floaters are bits of matter that float in the vitreous (jelly-fluid) center of the eyeball.  Short of contraversial surgery, nothing can be done about them.  They are harmless but can be extraordinarly annoying;  anyone bothered by them should get checked by their optomologist, however, to make sure the floaters are not a symptom of a more serious retina problem however.  There are online websites and online info. about floaters also...

Absolutely you have rights to your own medical records. You may have to put it in writing and go through the offices records department. Call and ask to speak with the records department and ask their protocol.

Ophthalmology reviews in Mystic

I was first seen for vision correction. The correction exam was performed by an efficient young women. Dr. then did an ex exam. He seemed thorough and explained things well.
- Thomas M.

I am absolutely satisfied with the service, expertise, high-tech equipment, attitude, professionalism, courtesy, etc. I received from Dr. and his staff - with one exception.

I would absolutely NOT let anyone in the optical department touch a pair of my glasses again. While I appreciated them confessing after ...More examining my glasses that they did not know how to take the lenses out of the frames, in the process I believe they put a deep scratch in one of the lenses, and refused to accept responsibility for it. The insulting implication was that the lens must have already had the scratch, and by me pointing it out to them, I was trying to scam them in some way. I was very offended, and worse, very disappointed, because everything up to that moment had been fantastic. Even as I write this I get incensed thinking about it.

(I state this in terms of "I believe they put a deep scratch...." so no one should be able to think I am being libelous. From my perspective, I clean my lenses regularly and know what they look like, and had done so just a hour or so before I handed them to the person working in the optical department. In my opinion, the lens wasn't scratch before I handed them to her, it was when she handed them back...)

Regardless, I would absolutely go back to Dr. again. He has all the latest equipment, and it makes the exam process much more pleasant and much more thorough and precise. I just will stay the heck away from the optician.

Had cataract exam with Dr. Erzurum/ . Flippant. Allergic to the eye drops before exam. Swollen eyelids and face, dizzy, couldn't walk well, red eye. Erzurum snapped,"Your eyelids are not swollen!" Did not flush eyes or treat reaction. Told me I needed Restasis for dry eyes. No mention of cataracts. Asked staff for ...More my records. Shared with my previous optometrist. Erzurum wrote on report I needed cataracts removed but didn't tell me. Got another ophthalmologist, cataracts removed, could finally see. Waste of hundreds on glasses from . You don't give me enough space to tell how badly things went there. Years of not seeing road, store, building signs; couldn't read books, letters, package instructions w/o magnifying glasses. Would never recommend Erzurum or .

Arrived at the office at 11:20 for an 11:30 appointment. Signed in but was never greeted by any staff member. They were busy unloading boxes behind the desk, then talking & laughing. I was finally called up to the desk at 11:50 (I heard one staff member remark quietly to another "she signed in at 11:20") & gave them my insurance ...More card. I was told they didn't take my insurance so I wouldn't be able to see the doctor. I explained I didn't have eye care insurance & planned on paying for the visit myself. The staff member said they couldn't do that because they wouldn't have anyone to send the bill to, to which I replied, "send it to me". That wasn't possible. No clear explanation was ever given & the staff member's attitude become very rude. I walked out of the office at that point. I took a day off work for this appointment, so not only did I not see the doctor, I lost a day's pay.
I can't give a review of Dr. because I never saw him. But, based on the service I received from his staff, I would not recommend him.
- Lisa W.

Dr. did a PHENOMENAL job with my Lasek. My entire experience, from the very first appointment to my follow-up appointments has been one worthy of the utmost praise. He, his staff, and the surgical team at Eye made me feel so comfortable, answered all my questions, and continue to be available and checking ...More on my recovery. I can't say enough how thrilled I am with my vision! It is so great to be out of glasses and seeing perfectly!! I would not want to do this procedure with anyone else and only recommend him to others seeking vision correction! He and his team are, quite simply, the best.
- Mary N.

I recently had cataract surgery in both eyes with Dr Blotnick. First let me say that Dr Blotnick is very skilled doctor and did an excellent job. Here's the problem - his staff completely botched the experience.
First of all, I made it clear to three different employees that I both needed (due to insurance) and wanted to go to a specific ...More hospital. I did so to ensure that I would be scheduled appropriately. As I was securing the date, I noticed they had put the wrong hospital on the information card. I immediately pointed this error out to the scheduling on duty and was told it would be corrected immediately. I travel for a living and it is very important that I confirm my appointments to prevent excessive fees due to schedule changes.
Then I got a phone call from the "surgical coordinator" informing me that I had in fact been scheduled to the wrong hospital. When I told her what had happened and what my needs were, she dismissed it, saying that "it was to correct" and that I needed to "change the date of the surgery". I asked her who was going to pay my travel fees for changing my travel due to their error, because it certainly was not going to be me or my organization. She did not know what to do at all and never helped with the end result. I ended up going through a mountain of phone calls with my insurance to make sure that if I went ahead with the surgery on that day in the wrong hospital, I would still be covered.
My coverage is excellent and yet, I received several phone calls from the "insurance and billing" person, who talked to me as if
she was some sort of bill collector and I was in arrears. This was not the case at all. We have always paid promptly and also had excellent insurance coverage. She actually threatened me with "if you don't pay up front, you won't get the surgery" when I questioned about what she had filed with the insurance providers.
I expressed my dissatisfaction several times to the insurance and billing person and the surgical coordinator and nothing was done. I even had to push hard to get receipts so I could file my own insurance. Interesting since they push hard for their money and yet drag their feet to give the appropriate receipt.
I had both eyes done and was satisfied with Dr Blotnick until I went for my next day follow-up. I went to the Rd office which is where I have always gone for years. I was told when I arrived that Dr Blotnick was in the University location. At no time, via paperwork or the confirming phone call, was the location mentioned. At no time did anyone on staff indicate that I was scheduled to go to a completely different location than I had ever gone to. So , I ended up seeing a completely different
doctor who DID NOT perform the surgery. While he was nice, he was not Dr Blotnick. Again, their idea to correct their series of blunders was to expect me to jump through hoops.
Finally and totally fed up, I spoke with the office manager about all this and was told by him that he agreed and that I had been treated very badly. And then he said, "What do you want me to do about it?" If that wasn't bad enough, he then said, "you got eye surgery from one of the best in , so...." in a very patronizing way, inferring that I show my gratitude by keeping quiet. I was appalled and disgusted. I paid dearly for good service on every level and did not receive it. Frankly, with this
arrogant and dismissive office manager, no wonder the office staff are lacking in professionalism and seem entirely incapable of listening to patients needs.
I am done with this practice.
- Sandy W.

Dr. returned my call within 3
minutes. He had picked up the anxiety in my voice and first reassured me
that the problem was most likely a minor one, not uncommon after
cataract surgery. Then he arranged for me to be seen as soon as the office opened. He examined
my troubled eye, and quickly confirmed ...More his initial expectation. He explained that the cause of the fogginess was a thin film behind the lens, and that it could be removed in an out-patient laser procedure that was extraordinarily safe. (I believe he quoted the odds of permanent impairment as 1 in 2800. He always has the benefit/risk odds in mind when discussing the pro's and con's of any procedure, and engages me in deciding what to do. This is just one aspect of his thorough knowledge of his specialty. )
The procedure went perfectly, and my vision in that eye is now better than it has ever been in my life!
This was our latest interaction. Previously, I had seen Dr. many times for everything from routine examinations to symptoms of possible retinal detachment, and for cataract removal. In every case and every interaction, his professionalism, expertise, and personal caring were exemplary.
I would recommend Dr. without any reservation whatsoever. You could not find a better ophthalmologist.
- Malcolm M.

The people (staff) were always attentive. Waiting time minimal. Dr is a great surgeon. The org. is well run. A very professional place.
