  • I asked my Primary Care Physician to refer me to an endocrinologist at the Joslin Diabetes Center for a second opinion on my diagnosis of hypothyrodism and the amount of medication I was prescribed. Shortly thereafter, the Joslin Diabetes Center contacted me to set up an appointment.
When I arrived at my appointment, I was greeted amiably by the office staff and, after a few short minutes, escorted to the exam room. The highlight of my visit was meeting Dr Rita Gonzalez. She was very patient while I related the history of my diagnosis, thoughtful in her questions and responses, and, above all, extremely caring and compassionate. When she said she considered it a privilege to help people, I knew I was in good hands. She explained her opinion of my condition and proposed an approach to reducing the amount of medication I was on - without causing symptoms - and assertaining my dietary needs to prevent any further loss of bone (worsening of my osteoporosis).
Amzaingly, each time she has ordered blood work or other tests, she is on the phone to me with the results within a few hours of my visit to the lab. And, as a testament to her caring and deligence, she will not hang up the phone until all my questions and concerns have been answered. She is, without a doubt, the most wonderful doctor I have ever met!

  • Dr. Duff performed a stapedectomy which unfortunately was an abject failure--it didn't improve my hearing. Worse, it left me with some new problems. I have persistent fluid in the ear and am prone to ear infections. Dr. Duff seemed surprised by the fluid and inserted a tube which worked but was only a temporary fix. Once it came out the fluid was back. He then put in a longer-term tube which also worked, but when the tube came out (just recently), the fluid came back. Although I liked Dr. Duff very much, I never felt that he showed sufficient concern for my condition or had a long-term solution for my problem. I'm now planning see a specialist at Yale who's been recommended to me in hopes of finding a solution.
Dr. Duff has a reputation as THE doc to use for ear surgery in Providence, and I have no doubt that he's a top-notch surgeon. It just didn't work out in my case.

  • She is the best doctor. I am 74 years old and she is extremely gentle, friendly and knowledgeable. I can sit down and talk to her about anything, she is just wonderful. She does whatever she can to help you.

  • I like going to them since they are pretty good except that they take a long time to get an appointment. They are a kind of all over the place since I go to different doctors who prescribe different medication each time I visit them.

  • We visit them frequently because two of us are gravely allergic. We are not actually that thrilled and it's complicated because we have very specific needs for our daughter's allergy. She is only two years old and is going through pediatric allergy treatment which is different. We have some issues with how that is being done and we are actually going to New York for starting next month. They are a group of three doctors and we think they are fine allergists. We think our experience with the pediatric food allergist is very limited. We think it's important to know the three doctors there to understand which one is the best because they have different bedside manners and specialists so we think it's good that you get to know which one of the doctors work best for you.

  • It's very crowded all the time and there is usually a long wait.  Dr. Ber is nice enough but he is a little odd.  He just looked up stuff on the Internet for the office consult for my daughter's allergies and reads from the website.  We walk away more confused than we were before.  They are alright, but he is just a little odd.  The office and the staff are very nice.  They get really, really busy.  I guess everybody in the world goes to them.  It's like trying to get an after school appointment for my daughter so that she doesn't miss school.  It's just about impossible.  We waited for an hour one time.  I haven't had any problems with billing and administration.  We are trying to find somebody a little closer to our home and somewhere where the wait is not so long and someone who is a little less confusing when he delivers information about allergies.

  • I have been using them for about four years.  It is a nice environment and they are very friendly.  They take good care of me.  I do feel comfortable when I visit them.  They are sympathetic to my needs and answer my questions.

  • Dr. James Scarles is a wonderful practitioner.  I've been going to them for thirty years and they are wonderful.  They are thorough and of course professional.

  • The nurses that give the injections are the best and I have been very happy with all of the doctors that I have encountered there. They are very professional.
