Insulation reviews in Milford

We moved into our house in the winter and found out that the 70 year old insulation was quite deteriorated and moldy in the fall. We decided to have the old insulation removed so that we could cut down on heating bills and get rid of the smell. I contacted several companies and interacted with Joe from Good Life as the salesperson. He was kind enough to come to our house twice as the scope of the project changed. Both times, he drafted the proposal right at the end of the visit. His professionalism and the quoted price convinced us to go with Good Life Energy Savers. On day 1, the first crew came to remove the old insulation from the attic and used open cell spray foam to insulate the basement rim joists. On day 2, a second crew came to apply blown-in fiberglass insulation in the attic. Please note that the material they use is not irritant at all. Both crews worked really hard and cleaned up very well after they were done. I was especially impressed with the job 1st crew did to remove the old insulation from the slopes on a cathedral ceiling. My only minor complaint is regarding the patch in the ceiling at the end of the job. The guys used paper tape and there were bubbles all around. I guess they were very tired at the end of the day. Initially, I was planning to paint the room myself to cover the patch. But after removing the paper tape (due to bubbles) and using fiber mesh tape and joint compound, I figured I wouldn't be able to smooth the edges of the patch perfectly and hired a professional. Overall, it is a great company that provides quality job at a reasonable price. With the new insulation, the furnace runs much less frequently and I am pretty sure the job will pay for itself very in a few years.

Exceptional. Very neat and clean. Cautious of not letting dogs out of the yard or get hurt so asked me to keep them inside while they were moving materials through the gates and working on ladders outside. Showed up on time and completed work in a timely manner as they described before the job started. Honest about what wood roofing needed to be replaced. Roof looks awesome and most importantly works great!

This particular job was to have the attic re-insulated or better insulated than what it previously was. Actually, the guy sort of talked me into the solar fan. We had a very severe rain storm the following day, and lo and behold, to my surprise, rain water came in through the unit itself, through the solar fan. So I was a little bit disappointed with that. I e-mailed him back and he has been very responsive in terms of communication. His response was something to the effect that that almost never happens. I'm pretty sure those were his words, and he said he was sure that it wasn't leaking because of improper installation. That's probably true, but the unit itself is not totally rain free or water free. A lesson that I learned was I can't store anything directly under that spot where the attic fan is because it's vulnerable. It's not severe water damage, but it's like having droplets coming in, so that particular area is not a place for storing anything. Basically I thought they did a very good job, they were professional and they were courteous. I kind of feel like the solar fan was sort of oversold, but it's one of these things that kind of as a customer you go with it because it's impossible to have every possible experience or to even talk to other people who may have had the same experience with it that you have. I think the price was reasonable. It's really hard as a customer to price these things out because every provider has a different slant on what should be done. I'm waiting for a couple of rebates that haven't appeared yet, but they will make me feel better about the price. For quality, I guess I kind of feel like the dumb customer who doesn't know any better, but I guess I'll give them an A on that. They were very responsive so they definitely deserve an A for that. I had to ask them to clean up fiberglass from the driveway when they were about to leave, but they did respond to my request and cleaned up these little tiny pieces of pink fiberglass that were blowing all over, so I'll give them an A for professionalism.

Victor was very responsive and professional.  He worked hard to tailor services to our budget.  He scheduled the work to suit our preferred time-frame. Victor's employees/contractors did quality work i.e. they did a quality job of finishing uneven, old plaster walls, as well as meeting new sheetrock and old plaster. When we required additional services he was happy to again accommodate our budget and schedule.  When we had questions about  the job he addressed them quickly.  We are very happy with the new look of our home. Thank you Victor!

Dave was easy to set up an initial appointment with, during which he did a thorough inspection of our house and provided recommendations for additional insulation. Since our home was built in 1949, the existing insulation was minimal and our home got quite cold in the winter. He was quick to tell us about the CT state rebate program to pay up to half the cost of the new installation. We followed up with the neccesary auditors (ERTG, who were also great) and got the requisite inspection.
Scheduling a date took a while - it wasn't as easy as I'd have liked to get details about timing, and I later found out that one of their trucks broke down, delaying our initial timeline. However, they were always polite and apologetic, and around 3 weeks later than we expected, the scheduled day came.
The crew was perfectly on time, nice, clean and courteous. They did a great job explaining exactly what they were doing when, and how we needed to prepare. They were even very good with our anxious dog who didn't seem to like them very much. The job was done swiftly and efficiently, and they cleaned up very well when they were done. After they left we promptly received the copy of the invoice and audit form filled out so we can get our rebate, which should be 50% of the work done, saving us around $1400.
I would highly recommend Nealon to anyone looking to further insulate their home.

The techs who applied the spray foam insulation did a good job. They were very thorough.
The owner was very concerned about safety and advised I be out of the home for the afternoon during the application.
I was able to get the technical information I needed to be able to get a permit from the town for this repair.

Pete and Jim did a great job. They were punctual, polite and cleaned up after themselves.
I would highly recommend this company. I looked at 3 other companies in the area and choose Air Specialties. There price was similar to the other companies.
I was also able to order a cover for the compressor 3  months later.

Great job...great people!  Several thumbs up!!
I can't believe what an incredible company.  You would never expect this level of service from a heating company.  From the first time Tom came out, we was more knowledgeable than any other contractor I had met. The guys that came out did a fantastic job and left the area they worked in cleaner than when they started.  Our house already feels so much warmer and the system they installed works perfectly!  I've had nightmare experiences with other local companies so it was refreshing to work with someone so professional who cared about my house.  We will also be purchasing a generator before summer.  Thank you so much...will recommend to others.

One of the worst experiences with a contractor I have ever had. Efficiency audit personnel were amateur. I had to tell them areas to inspect and when they came to seal leaks they missed so many areas that I had to go back and redo it myself. When installing insulation in my attic the subcontractor didn't install enough insulation and failed to seal the soffits properly. The sub returned and filled the joists and again failed to finish the job. A second sub came to finish the job and caught my attic on fire with an electrical fire, poured water on it and collapsed the ceiling below. Climate Partners refused to pay the first sub who then put a lien on my home. Climate partners, specifically Tom Casey the owner, did not stand by their client and refused to respond to my requests to help remove the lien. It cost me another $3,000.00 in legal fees to have the lien removed. If you believe in Angie's list please stay away from this company! There are better alternatives locally.
