    The ice machine was not working. The fixing cost was about $800 and after the machine was fixed about two months, it didn't work again. I called R&B again. They said it would cost more money to fix it. I wish they would have told me the first time before the first repair so I could put money toward a new machine.

    J. J. Sullivan was the only company to offer us the option of replacing only the outside unit and not the interior components (incl. air handler).  The more expensive option (which was also reasonably priced) allows a unit with a higher SEER but the increased cost could not be justified by the small increase in efficiency.

    The new thermostats which we purchased were replaced at no cost except for the new panel.

    We get our heating oil from J. J. Sullivan and they offer a $0.10 per gallon discount for prompt payment.

    Our house is for sale and during the home inspection, the inspector was examining the HVAC equipment and thought he smelled an odor that may have been a gas leak. I called Total Comfort, who provides regular scheduled maintenance on the system, and they immediately dispatched a technician to our home to investigate. He was there within an hour and thoroughly inspected the unit and all the gas connections. In fact, there was no leak but I was thoroughly impressed with their responsiveness and concern. They have been servicing our equipment for the past five years (twice yearly) and have always done a very good job, with friendly and professional service, and reasonable pricing. But I think this most recent visit really showed that they care about their customers and are willing to go above and beyond in customer service.

    Kept their appointments and were very knowledgeable about propane and heat pump alternatives.  Originally were considering replacing the boiler, but when the air conditioner started to die, suggested a good heat pump which will heat all winter and cool all summer.  Installation was very cleanly and professionally done and system is working well

    Billy the owner is very professional and a neat freak. The work was done in about 1.5 hours and i was shown the leak and i was told exactly what i was going to involve to fix it.

    My situation was that I ended my service contract with a previous oil company and was looking to start a service agreement with a new company. I was very upfront from the beginning that my burner did have a pre-existing condition, the main problem being a leaking mixing valve. I explained this to the representative who originally answered the call and shortly thereafter the service manager gave me a call back. He was at my house that same afternoon to take a look at the burner while my wife was at home. He then stated to my wife that he would give me a call back to discuss his findings. A week went by and I did not get a call back. So, I called River Valley Oil about a week later and inquired about the visit. The service manager gave me a call back the next morning. He explained that the repairs to my system would be very costly (around $1000.00) and basically made it clear that he had no interest in offering me a premium service policy and that I am better off just buying a whole new boiler. Funny thing is that I was willing to pay a reasonable amount of money to have the leaking mixing valve addressed. Probably closer to $500.00 then $1000.00 though. Thankfully I did have a competitor also take a look at the boiler and he was willing to fix it for around $400.00 and then sign me on to their premium service policy. Both companies did state that there were other issues, such as corrosion on the tank itself, under the mixing value, etc. But, the other company did say once the mixing value and smoke pipe are replaced the burner could probably go at least another 5 years or so before needing to be replaced. Hopefully my financial situation is better in 5 years, because right now I can't afford a new boiler. So, I guess it does pay to shop around. I just got the impression that River Valley Oil did not really care if they got my business or not. They did not seem to want to think outside the box for me and offer me other options. Now, to be fair, they could have excellent service technicians and do great work. Unfortunately I did not get an opportunity to find out. I will say though, the service manager was polite in both interactions and did seem to be very honest. Not a bad guy. Unfortunately, obviously their business needs and my needs did not mesh and hence no service agreement or business from me at this point in time.

    They were referenced to me. They are thorough and experts at what they do. They are kind. My son has autism, and he's very much into trains. One of the owners brings my son different train items. They always think of my son and do nice things. They watch out for me, and they are true gentleman. They keep me honestly advised on what I need and don't need with my furnace system.

    We used to use Kevin Johnson for our heating problems at our previous residence. Our furnace had some issues and always shut down when the outside temp was extremely low. Kevin initially seemed trustworthy and able to deal with the problem and showed up each time to get the furnace started. He also made it clear that our problems were caused by the outside oil tank being full of sediment and the oil line freezing when the weather became too cold. He always managed to get the furnace started but at the same time repeatedly told us the only permanent solution was to replace the furnace and move the oil tank inside. Of course, he could "give us a deal" and do the work himself. We simply did not have the money. One morning we again woke to no heat and our kids crying from the cold. We called Kevin who said he couldn't do anything else for our furnace and he didn't have time to come out yet again. We were surprised at his change in attitude and called another company who not only responded quickly but also PERMANENTLY FIXED the problems Kevin insisted couldn't be fixed. It turned out all we needed was an additive to the oil tank to break down the sediment and a heater on the oil line to prevent it freezing. Our new heating repair company fixed the problem quickly and at a much lower cost than replacing everything. Needless to say, we never called Kevin Johnson again and would not even consider hiring him for future issues. He does come across as very down to earth and honest, but he either took advantage of our lack of experience to try to convince us to replace our furnace and oil tank OR he is so ignorant of his own trade that he didn't know how to fix our problems. Either scenario is unacceptable.

    The entire house is cooled. The system works great! They installed the ducts without any additional painting or work needed after they finished. They cleaned up after themselves every day. We are very happy with our central A/C.
