Lawn Care reviews in Ledyard

    Sprigs & Twigs Inc
My review covers a bit more than just the 2015 spring/summer lawn mowing season.
I have gotten quotes from them for fall leaf clean-up, tree work, and lawn fertilization, and find their prices to be on the high side. With these higher prices, one would expect excellence in the quality of the work as well as the professionalism of the company. I found both to be a bit lacking. My biggest complaint with the lawn mowing service is that the weed whacking (trimming) quality was awful. The kid they had doing it would zip around the yard without care and attention and burn the edge grass, till by mid-season it was dead. As the weeks went on, there was nothing left for him to trim as the grass in all the edge areas was dead. We discussed it to him as well as called the company about it on a couple occasions through the season and finally, by the end of the season, he began to put some care into his work, but it was too late for our grass. We will need to replant all the edge areas this spring.

American Landscape & Lawn Science LLC
They did a good job and it was all organic as they don't use harsh chemicals. The lawn always looks great after they do it because they eliminate bugs, weeds, crab grass and fertilize the yard. They put up signs to let people know they've fertilized the yard and take care of all other basic precautions and government regulations. They know what they're doing and so I walk around my yard with them and ask them about different types of grass.

Overall it went well. Property looks clean. Perhaps the power tools are a bit too strong, as a lot of the mulch was gone from the garden beds when the job was done. They did the job in about 4 hours.

    Costello Landscaping Lawn Care
Kevin Costello is extremely unprofessional. The wheels on the mower tore up the grass. He repeatedly mowed early morning wet grass leaving clumps all over the lawn all summer after I had a costly dethatching done in the Spring. I asked him to not gouge the lawn when he weed-whacked and he proceeded to kill the grass by weed-whacking too low. Now the grass in many areas is dead and moss has taken over in its place. He did not show on several occasions, and then disappeared all together without notice. I have had a handful of lawn services over many years, and Costello Landscaping was by far the worst of all of them. If you need a reliable, professional lawn service that will not destroy your lawn, look elsewhere.

    Joshua's Lawncare & Odd Jobs
We agreed he would come to my home to put in my air conditioners. He was going to call a half hour prior to make sure I was home. He never called. I waited an hour to call him. When I did he didn't answer so I left a message. He called me back about a half hour later stating a friend was sick and he was leaving town for 4 days and he would call me when he returned. ( It was the Friday before Memorial Day weekend) I understood that things of that nature can not be avoided and said okay. i waited over a week then called him. I called him three times waiting 2-3 days between my calls. He was to come on May 24th. It is now June 12th and he has not returned a call or email from me. I don't think he is a reliable person.

    Robert Rossi
I am satisfied with my experiences with Robert Rossi. I liked how efficiently Mr. Rossi removed Pine Needles from my yard. I chose him as I work with him already but will definitely recommend him to other.

    Eastern Connecticut Earth Cares
We hired Eastern CT Earth Cares to provide lawn-mowing and weed-whacking for the entire 2010 lawn season. As the summer went by, the quality of the work went down. He neglected to weed whack some areas and other areas he did weed-whack, he killed the grass by weed-whacking it down to the roots. We were supposed to be on a 10 day mowing schedule. Not rocket science, I thought. As the summer went by, two weeks would go by without Spence showing up. It would take several calls and a few more days for him to show up. In September, he stopped coming altogether and neglected to return any of the numerous phone calls I left for him, asking when he was coming to mow. What happened to professional courtesy of notifying your customer if you intend to halt service so that the customer has enough time to find a replacement? For 3 weeks (wondering if Spence was going to mow and looking for a new lawn person), my lawn was not mowed. Since this is the location of a business, it left the customers wondering why the lawn was not being attended to and made me look bad as a business owner. I urge you to steer clear of Eastern CT Earth Cares (Spence Quintin).

This is the second year he has done the lawn care for our residence. Always prompt, does a good job, and does it all for a very fair price.
