    Klaus Larsen LLC
As with my previous experience with the installation of a new roof on my home by Klaus Larsen, the job was scheduled sooner than expected and the team did a fantastic job, The roofing team arrived on time and removed the old shingles and installed the new roof in a short amount of time, The quality of their work was excellent and they cleaned up when the job was done. As with my previous experience with Klaus Larsen LLC it was a pleasure to work with this company again and I highly recommend them.

I had a difficult to trace roof leak and I wanted someone to walk my roof, identify potential problems and give me an estimate to fix them.  I made an appointment with this contractor through a special deal which cost $400 up front.  The contractor was prompt, courteous and did a very through roof inspection, including gutters.  He did not find any problems that required work beyond the boots on two vent stacks that were extremely deteriorated and could have been the source of the roof leak.  Since I could provide him with matching shingles, he offered to replace the vent stack boots (he provided the boots) and recut and replace roof shingles surrounding the vent stacks in fulfillment of the $400 special.  He and his partner took about two hours and did excellent work.  I was especially appreciative of the fact he did not try to over sell me on unnecessary repairs.  He did show me the boots he replaced and they were really in sad shape.

Based on my limited experience with this company I would certainly call them again for an estimate on roof repairs or replacement.  They did an excellent job for me.

    JS and R LLC
    Everything went very well.
I solicited three bids, and Jarod's was easily the most favorable.
Work was scheduled to proceed shortly after signing the contract, and though we were delayed by weather twice, work began on my first available rain-free day.  Original time estimate was one day,  but my roof has "challenging" contours and pitch, so the crew returned for a few hours on the following day to finish up.
His crew worked methodically and professionally, replacing one large fixed skylight (which I provided) perfectly and reflashing seven others.  Compromised roof plywood was replaced and ample water-and-ice shielding laid down (in contrast to the insufficient water-and-ice that had been laid down originally).  All drip edge was replaced.
Clean-up was thorough, and I have found fewer than ten small-ish pieces of miscellaneous debris in the undergrowth surrounding my house.
I am not an early riser, and Jarod went out of his way to let me sleep in on the weekend mornings that this work took place, taking care of moving things surrounding the worksite out of the way.
Communication was excellent. Jarod is professional, energetic, and personable.  I would not hesitate to recommend JS&R to others.
I will update this review over time with anything that might develop as a result of this work.

    Klaus Larsen LLC

Excellent job from initial quote to final completion of all work.  True professionals that deliver quality products and services with close attention to customer satisfactionHighly recommended.

    Details:

My initial quote was provided by Klaus Larsen, the owner.  He was very informative and professional and discussed his company, the products he sold and detailed the roof replacement installation process.  He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. While I quickly felt comfortable with Klaus and his organization I was concerned that his quote was more than I intended to spend so I decided to shop around.  Klaus left me with an itemized estimate, documents regarding his company, brochures on the Owens Corning products and details on the warranty, a long list of references and a copy of his contractor license and insurance policy information.

After shopping around I concluded that Klaus Larsen provided the best solution for the best price, best warranty and best overall reputation for quality service. I had received one competitive one quote that was $5000 higher than the Klaus Larsen quote with additional cost on an replacement of roof plywood if needed. I learned that when replacing a roof once the shingles are removed it may be discovered that some of the plywood roof sheets need to be replaced due to water damage. Many roofers quote without plywood replacement and with and additional cost for plywood replacement as needed.  The quote from Klaus Larsen for a total roofing system includes replacement of any and all plywood as necessary. This eliminates the surprise of a much higher total cost than the original quote provided due to plywood replacement.

Upon deciding to go with Klaus Larsen I met with Jeremy Minter to sign a contract. Jeremy was very professional and helpful and clearly the installation process and answered my remaining questions.  I was surprised that that they were able to schedule to work so quickly and we agreed on a date for installation for the following week with an expectation to complete the job on my two story home in one and a half days.  Other contractors had estimated three to four days to complete the job.

On the day of installation the crew was in my driveway around 7:10am and Klaus arrived shortly thereafter to review the work to be done and supervise his crew as they began removing two layers of shingles.  The crew of 8 used large tarps hung from the roof edge to protect my home and shrubs during the removal of the old shingles. Two crew members stayed on the ground throughout the day keeping the yard clean and assisting the 6 other crewmen from the ground as required.  Within a few hours shingle removal was complete and the old shingles were loaded into a trailer and hauled away. Next they replaced 20 water damaged plywood sheets and drilled venting holes in my soffits to improve air flow because my soffits had not previously been vented.   Once this work was complete 6 crewmen installed drip edges, OC underlayment, ice and water barriers, vent boots, chimney flashing , ridge vents and new Owens Corning shingles. The crew was very organized, and worked very hard throughout the day and did a quality job, better than I anticipated.  By the end of the first day the installation was complete and my yard was clean.  Klaus Larsen arrived around 5:00 pm to inspect the job and make certain that I was satisfied with all aspects of the job.  There was one remaining issue that needed to be addressed but the company was very responsive until the final issue was resolved to my satisfaction. I knew from other reviews that they would do a good job but I was still impressed with the responsiveness and quality of their work. I am very happy that I decided on an Owens Corning roof system and the Klaus Larsen organization to do the installation. I have already recommended Klaus Larsen to a relative.

    M & J Roofing LLC
I heard about M & J Roofing from friends who had searched Angies list and made the decision to go with M & J Roofing.  They liked them so much that I decided to use them as well.  I reached out to Jason and he came out to take a look at my roof.  Upon inspection, Jason informed me that this should be handled through an insurance claim, due to wind and hail damage.  When I had difficulty with my insurance company on my claim, Jason told me he would take it from here.  In other words, he interceded for me on my behalf.  I remember asking him..."are you some kind of an angel?".  I have never had a vendor take on a dispute for me. Long story short, my claim was approved.  The M & J team came out and completed the job in 2 days.  I couldn't believe it!  You would never know they were here as not a nail was left or a piece of shingle.  They did a fantastic job and I would recommend them to anyone who is in need of a roof.  Believe me, it will be one of the best decisions you could make!  Thank you Jason and thanks again to your team!

    Safe Roof Cleaning, LLC
The price was slightly steep. It didn't take long to get the job done. They came back out a second time and tried to get rid of the rust stain on the shingles. They stated because the stainless steal cap was left off they were unable to remove the rust.

    Ericsen Contracting
Job went very well. Clean up was as promised. Personable but professional workers.
Additionally, a year and a half after the new roof was installed, we had a leak. We contacted Eric, the owner, and he returned our call immediately. Although the issue happened on a holiday weekend, Eric responded and corrected the problem himself. That is the kind of response you like to know you have AFTER the sale. Very pleased overall with this company and would highly recommend.

Ralph contacted me by email and then we had a phone conversation to set up initial roof inspection.  He was on time, very pleasant, very much willing to discuss the work and how he would do it.  I had several specific things I wanted him to look at on the roof and he did that quickly and competently.  I was impressed enough with him to hire him to do several other siding and trim repair jobs.  He took care of those one on return visit.  I think most people would find Ralph easy to work with and would appreciate his willingness to explain what he is going to do and how he is going to do it.

    Jacob's Ladder LLC
One word 'Superb' My wife and I had been discussing for some time about expanding our existing deck and switching to composite materials. One weekend my wife visited a fund raising fair/carnival hosted at one of the Colchester schools where Sam was representing his business, Jacob's Ladder. She stopped by to get some info and gave Sam our number. I think it was the very next day that Sam called and we spoke on the phone about what we had in mind. He stopped over and we began tossing around ideas for the new deck. We agreed upon a design that would substantially expand the deck and present a couple of challenges. 1) Most of the deck would have to expand over a retaining wall and walk out basement. This meant having to block the entrance to the walk out with at least two support beams. I was reluctant to do this because it's handy to be able to drive my truck up to the basement doors to load/unload materials. Sam came up with an idea to use extra large joists (which in the end became three 2x12 bolted together) so that we could get away with pouring a single footing that would not block the walkout. 2) because the deck would span nearly 20' across Sam had to special order the decking in 20' lengths (this became the only issue as i'll explain later). We signed the agreement on May 21st and agreed to pay in three installments (1 upon agreement, 1 upon the start of work, 1 upon completion). The following week I met with the young man who worked for Sam and would be doing all of the work, Josh Laterra. As point of irony, Josh is the son of the contractor who built our home nearly 10 years earlier. That aside, i cannot say enough about how courteous, friendly, accommodating, professional and hard working Josh was throughout the project. The work progressed according to schedule (aside from rain delays and the extra time it took for the 20' lengths of meterial). After the old deck had been removed and the framing completed, the materials arrived for the decking and rails. Right away Josh noticed that some of the boards were marred and faded. The 20 footers were warped, so that when you looked at them from the end they appeared wavy. He called Sam who immediately came over to check it out. Sam showed me what was delivered and apologized. He said he was going to have the company, Gaf, (www.gaf.com) come back and pick up the materials and then have them re-fill the order, but this time using a higher grade material (CorrectDeckCX). Of course a few days were lost while Gaf filled the special order for the 20' boards. During this time Sam was in contact with us letting us know the status of the materials. When it arrived, I was pleased to see that it was substantially better quality than the previous material (CrossTimbers). From this point Josh worked like a madman getting the deck completed. The attention to detail was great and the finishing touches (wiping down the deck and railing, replacing the siding and gutter downspouts that had to be removed) were well worth any delays we encountered. After it was all done, Josh cleaned up all the materials, tools and equipment. He even swept the yard to cleanup the sawdust! I have to say that I'm writing this not only to sing the praises of Sam, Josh and Jacob's Ladder, but also to provide other home owners with a reference to a local business that is everything that we, as home owners, look for in a contractor. Someone who is honest, courteous, punctual and professional and delivers a fantastic end result. Doing business with Jacob's Ladder was a breath of fresh air. As matter of fact we are already discussing additional business with Sam. I highly recommend Jacob's Ladder to anyone. Although this review was all about decks, his business card reads "windows, siding, roofing & more"

Work crew was on time, neat in both appearance and work habits. They were extremely well mannered and did what they said they were going to do. They told me it would take two days and it did. They removed my old shingles and replaced with 50 year shingles instead of the 30 year that I had ordered and paid for. There was no extra charge. Jon was given a price on the 50's because they were left by another contractor that had ordered them a couple months ago and they were never picked up. The wholesaler offered them to Jon at no extra cost and he passed it on to me. Which, by the way, I found they needed more squares of material for the 50 year shingles than the 30. I paid exactly what Jon had in his quote! I am hiring him for another job soon. Windows and siding! I can't wait.
