Woodworking reviews in Kensington

  • the work went wonderfully.  Joe was professional and friendly.  Easy to talk to and work with.
He assessed the problem I was having with the pantry roll out drawers(the glides for the drawers were not sturdy enough for a pantry shelf.  the small screws kept coming loose from the bracket and the drawer would sag and not roll in and out.  and they didn't extend all the way out for reaching things in the back of the drawer.)  Joe replaced the hardware to heavy duty full extension glides.  He rebuilt the inside of the pantry to be sturdy to hold cans, pans and all my baking ingredients.

  • I am very satisfied with the entire job that Mr. Zaman did on the roof.  He climbed the roof and examined the entire surface during the initial meeting.  He provided an immediate and very reasonable estimate for the job.  He answered all my questions and did not try to sell me anything I didn't need.
He showed up and worked onsite alongside his very professional crew.  I especially appreciated the fact that the owner of the business was there all day, ensuring that all the work was done to his satisfaction.  His crew worked very efficiently and did not overlook any details in insuring the job was completed properly.  The new roof looks great and the attention to every little detail exceeded my expectations.  He did not cut any corners on any step of the process.
His final cleanup was remarkable.  Every little piece of debris was removed from the property and landscaping.
I highly recommend Zaman Carpentry to anyone needing a new roof.

  • The designer was a cheerful and friendly person. That is the end of the positive experience.

The designer did not come with a laptop, book or booklets, or any samples (of anything) for me to look at. I paid for a design but the consultant assumed that I would be having the work done by their company which was not necessarily the case. As a result of this assumption the answer to many of my questions was "that comes later in the remodeling process."  I asked for the design to contain glass in the cabinets on the sink side of the kitchen, the designer put them on the opposite wall and then told me on the next visit it would be a waste to put the glass on that wall since no one would see it there when they came into the kitchen! I asked to have rounded edges on the countertops but was told if I wanted that I would need to accept an ugly seem where the countertops met. The design I was presented with did not contain what I had asked, did not contain any new input from the designer, and looked as if it was just printed off a computer 5 minutes before coming to my house. The cabinets which I wanted to be white were made gray in the drawing and they did not even have door knobs or handles on the doors and drawers. When asked what I didn't like about the drawing I didn't know how to answer because I had not been shown any options that were available to me. I truly felt ripped off and was at a loss for words because the consultant was such a friendly outgoing person.

During the initial visit I asked about types of cabinet doors, types of glass, how I could keep from having useless space in corner cabinets, types of add-ons which would allow for additional organization within and I kept being told that I was getting ahead of myself. Then when the design was presented to me it didn't have any of the options I would have liked to have. To add insult to injury the consultant had offered to do a design of my bathroom at no extra charge and she took some measurements and we discussed what I was looking for. She did not even bring any design with her at all for the bathroom. No effort whatsoever was put into designing a workable and aesthetically pleasing new kitchen for me and yet I was presented with a proposed price tag of $17,000!!! It seems that a pull out drawer for garbage and other types of organizers and conveniences would be in addition to this price tag. I requested a refund from Living Social but was told because I received the service (what service?) they could not refund my money. They did give me 15 dollars in LS bucks but I probably won't go back to use them.

After the disappointing visit, I set up an appointment with a low cost kitchen place that I saw a t.v. commercial for and met with one of their designers. We sat in front of a computer screen. I was provided with booklets to look through for ideas and conveniences which I might want to consider including in the remodeled kitchen. I was shown samples of different color patterns and samples for counter tops as well as numerous options for the cabinets. It was then that I realized I'd been had. Do your homework first before calling this company. They expect you to know what you want when you call them. This was a very unfortunate experience and I was surprised that Living Social would not grant a refund after I described my experience in order to protect their clients from being scammed like I felt I was.

  • I was very satisfied with all the work David & Tim did for me.  They were very professional & courteous.  David always let me know just when he would be here & explained everything that he was going to do on that day. Everything was done on time.  I had a long list  of things to do.  Altogether they were at my home for approximately 5 days.  David always showed up right on time & was very detailed with whatever he was doing, making sure that I was happy with each job. If anything needed a little extra work he got on it right away.  I would not hesitate to hire him again & have already recommended him to a friend.

  • He is a good carpenter and I use him probably a few times each year. His pricing is very reasonable; he is a very caring guy who brings issues to you that help save dollars or build a better job. I will use him again in the future.

  • CT Woodworking arrived at my house right on time. The wall unit was delivered in 5 separate pieces (2-lower cabinets, 2-upper bookcases, and the fireplace mantel). Installation took half a day and the pieces were secured to the wall and level. Jim Crofts spent many years restoring antique houses and has pretty much come across any carpentry problem a house can throw at you. Quality of the wall unit was as described - high grade plywood casings and shelves w/ hardwood face frames (in our case Poplar). We opted to have our wall unit pre-finished in white. The finish was sprayed and looks even throughout. Added before and after pics.
