I contracted Better Built Basement (BBB) to renovate our 800 sq. ft basement which included a living area, kitchen and a full bathroom. Let me start out by stating I’m a very demanding and controlling customer. I interviewed many companies for this job and took my time to really research each company. BBB was not the cheapest but their presentation and knowledge about construction was impressive. From the moment I signed with them I couldn’t be more pleased. What I loved about BBB is that all their contractors are “in house.” They all work for BBB and they communicate with each other so there is no confusion. ALL their workers were so polite, always showed up on time and cleaned up at the end of the day. The office manager Kaitlyn was a pleasure to work with too. It was comforting to know if I had any issues I could contact her. For the kitchen, BBB recommended Integrity Kitchen Design. Kevin, the owner, was so nice to work with and the kitchen turned out beautiful. BBB’s workmanship and professionalism was impeccable. I would highly recommend them!!

Advanced Plumbing was way overpriced! They wouldn't give me any indication of price by phone, even though this is a fairly routine job. Once onsite, they told me there is a standard price for this job: $250. And their rate is fixed, regardless of how easy it turns out to be and how long it takes. In the end, the job was very easy and took about 45 minutes (someone else did it), so $250 was more than twice the appropriate cost. Meanwhile, I wasted time without functional plumbing while these guys came in for an appointment to do the estimate. Not a good process.

Brendan's work was always awesome! Everything he did was perfect. He says he likes to do finish work and it does show. His accomplishments are especially impressive since the house was built in 1900 it's really hard to find surfaces that are actually straight, plumb flat or even. Yet Brendan met all the challenges, with excellent results. Brendan is really easy to work with - a polite, friendly, trustworthy young man. There were never any surprises and he stuck exactly to his quote even though I know there were times he had to put in extra work due to the nature and surprises sometimes found in old houses. Approx. cost below includes labor and trim materials and windows.

DreamMaker did an excellent job on my kitchen.  Paul C the owner was very prompt in getting back to my email inquiry and meeting me at the shop.  I interviewed other kitchen companies but DM really had their act together and seemed like they were truly interested in the
job.  My designer, Paul D walked me through the selections and did a very nice layout/design.  My job was actually started sooner than they quoted and finished sooner.  I had a budget in the beginning but I quickly went over that which in the back of my mind I assumed I would do anyway.  Appliances and electric were not part of the DM cost. That was additional.  All the guys were pleasant and easy going, prompt and cleaned up each day.  They handled all inspections and permits,  which is what I needed with my busy schedule. I would highly recommend DM and have sent 2 more jobs their way due to referrals.  When I do my master bath, they will be the first ones I call.

The designer was a cheerful and friendly person. That is the end of the positive experience.

The designer did not come with a laptop, book or booklets, or any samples (of anything) for me to look at. I paid for a design but the consultant assumed that I would be having the work done by their company which was not necessarily the case. As a result of this assumption the answer to many of my questions was "that comes later in the remodeling process."  I asked for the design to contain glass in the cabinets on the sink side of the kitchen, the designer put them on the opposite wall and then told me on the next visit it would be a waste to put the glass on that wall since no one would see it there when they came into the kitchen! I asked to have rounded edges on the countertops but was told if I wanted that I would need to accept an ugly seem where the countertops met. The design I was presented with did not contain what I had asked, did not contain any new input from the designer, and looked as if it was just printed off a computer 5 minutes before coming to my house. The cabinets which I wanted to be white were made gray in the drawing and they did not even have door knobs or handles on the doors and drawers. When asked what I didn't like about the drawing I didn't know how to answer because I had not been shown any options that were available to me. I truly felt ripped off and was at a loss for words because the consultant was such a friendly outgoing person.

During the initial visit I asked about types of cabinet doors, types of glass, how I could keep from having useless space in corner cabinets, types of add-ons which would allow for additional organization within and I kept being told that I was getting ahead of myself. Then when the design was presented to me it didn't have any of the options I would have liked to have. To add insult to injury the consultant had offered to do a design of my bathroom at no extra charge and she took some measurements and we discussed what I was looking for. She did not even bring any design with her at all for the bathroom. No effort whatsoever was put into designing a workable and aesthetically pleasing new kitchen for me and yet I was presented with a proposed price tag of $17,000!!! It seems that a pull out drawer for garbage and other types of organizers and conveniences would be in addition to this price tag. I requested a refund from Living Social but was told because I received the service (what service?) they could not refund my money. They did give me 15 dollars in LS bucks but I probably won't go back to use them.

After the disappointing visit, I set up an appointment with a low cost kitchen place that I saw a t.v. commercial for and met with one of their designers. We sat in front of a computer screen. I was provided with booklets to look through for ideas and conveniences which I might want to consider including in the remodeled kitchen. I was shown samples of different color patterns and samples for counter tops as well as numerous options for the cabinets. It was then that I realized I'd been had. Do your homework first before calling this company. They expect you to know what you want when you call them. This was a very unfortunate experience and I was surprised that Living Social would not grant a refund after I described my experience in order to protect their clients from being scammed like I felt I was.

We were very pleased with the outcome of the bathroom.  The time and effort put into getting every thing we wanted and needed was a priorty number one with them.  Sugar Hill took the time to research the items we needed which included a full tub enclosure, vanity  shower fixtures and flooring.  With my husband being a disabled veteran, he needed special attention and Sugar Hill had the ability to provide thisl.  They took into consideration the hight of the bathtub, along with the hight of the shower head and the handicap railings that were needed in the tub area.

The carpenter, plumber and tile people were very professional in their work, paying particular attention to details.  If a problem arose that was not originally noted, attention was brought to it and fixed.  If i wanted to add something extra, there was no problem having them complete the project.  I never had to worry about the results because it was way above what I had anticipated.   These workers were also very neat and cleaned up after every aspect of their work was completed.

Ned was the final bidder on our job. He was caring, professional and wanted the best for us.  His bid beat a competitor for the same unit by a significant amount of money.  From day one, he and his crew were great. I'm the son of a contractor, and Ned and his team bring old-world professionalism to their work and its deliver.

Billy called me back the same day I had left a message.  Next day came & gave me an estimate. He explained everything he would do.  3 days later he did the work.  He was prompt & professional.  After the work everything was cleaned up. I would definitely hire him again.

Exceptionally well. We obtained 3 estimates for the work and Peter's was in the middle regarding cost. We selected Pete because we felt that he was easy to work with, provided good suggestions and most importantly was experienced. He also had many excellent references that vouched for his work. Pete did most of the work himself as well as general contracted the needed trades people (i.e. plumber, electrician and sheetrock). Pete was very good planning the renovations so they'd be the least disruptive to our house and we could continue to use our kitchen which was very much appreciated. Overall, Pete delivered high quality results and completed the work on schedule. Being close to the holidays, that was very important to us. We are extremely happy with the renovations. Exceptional work from a true craftsman.

You get what you pay for. Tony is a craftsman. Amazing finishes and detail. The product used is not cheap but Tomy helped make it work. By no means a cheap solution, but it is for 30 years
