  • We got quotes from several contractors for our chimney repair. Top Notch did the most thorough review of our chimney prior to giving us a quote. They are the only company that got on the roof to inspect the damage. They gave us the best price on top of being the most thorough. They did a great job and the work was completed within a week of the quote. Very easy to work with

  • In the fall of 2016, we had a Mendota gas fireplace installed by Superior. Ever since, there has been a substantial draft. We believe this is due to the installation not being done properly (insufficient insulation). Based on our observation, it was not even close to what is described in the manual. (But we didn't know that then, because we trusted that the installers would have known what the manual would recommend.) When we brought this to their attention, Superior sent multiple different people back to attempt to fix it from the outside, but none of these attempts made much of a difference. We suspect this is because they did not solve the root problem. Eventually, they blamed it on the house and refused to provide any additional help. We have finally found someone who seems to understand the problem and will be fixing it, for an estimated $2000.

  • We initially hired Rich & John's Chimney Service to inspect and clean our chimney via a special offer on Angie's List. Unfortunately, their inspection revealed that the chimney was not in working condition and could not be used. However, their inspection also revealed that we needed a new furnace flue liner, which they came back and installed. We were very happy with their service.

  • Debbie his asst, kept in touch with us during the entire process. Ted, the owner, was on time, reasonably priced, visited many time before the project started and was there during the projects he even hired an extra person to help finish the job due to a coming storm.

  • It was all done to our satisfaction. We didn't know the $99 furnace cleaning would lead to a much larger bill for a metal roof part. But it was all explained clearly. The job itself was done fast and efficiently.

  • The Chimney Sweep Company did a great job. They took great care in protecting the room and items in the room. The chimney was cleaned and inspected thoroughly. No upselling and great service. I would have back in a couple of years as recommended.

  • the cleaning was fine (probably), though I'm 100% skeptical of the claim my flue is "shot" with cracks etc when the tech spent about 20 seconds on a half-hearted sales pitch with a dim picture on his phone. They didn't have a filter on their shopvac exhaust, which seems wrong since previous chimney sweeps did. I'm going back to a local company -- I didn't realize they were NY based when I hired them with an angie's list deal since it said they were local...

  • The service men were stuck in bad traffic and arrived after the end of the time window I was given without calling to give an explanation. It was nearly dark when they began but they assured me that they could do the work under those conditions.   They took before and after pictures of the area and showed me.  They discarded their used polyester gloves in the bushes around the chimney, which was a disappointment.  I believe that the work they did was good, but they were unprofessional in the way they conducted themselves.

  • I bought a chimney inspection/cleaning deal from Rich and Johns; Rich came out to the house for the cleaning within 2 weeks and it was then  I got the bad news the chimney needed to be replaced and needed a liner too. He took pictures and showed me how bad it was. (I didn't think I needed to have the chimney cleaned since I don't have a fireplace, but I was certainly wrong!)  I went with them based on the excellent reviews they received on Angies list and received a 15% discount on the work.
The date for the liner and chimney rebuild  had to be postponed for  3-4 weeks due to the rainy weather; but they finally got good weather and reported  on time  on 11/9 as agreed.  The crew worked from 9 am to 6:30 PM placing the new liner, reattaching the furnace ducts, repairing the cinderblock base and tearing down and rebuilding the chimney.   The chimney rebuild was beautiful... Thank you Jorge! The yard was cleaned up nicely and they were off. I really appreciated that this was done on the weekend on a Sunday.  No time had to be missed from work.
You can bet I will have Rich and John back to clean the new chimney yearly.! It was a very positive experience overall; although i was disappointed to have to postpone the work due to the weather, I was called well in advance and advised of the need for a new appointment.  Cant build in the rain.....

  • After purchasing the $99 deal on angie's list I was contacted the next day to schedule a time. We agreed on a monday afternoon. That morning I was contacted and they confirmed when they would be there. Easy to communicate with, they were punctual, thorough, and finished the job quickly with no mess left behind.
