    Top Notch Chimney Cleaning
This is our first year living in New England, so a chimney was a nice treat in our new home. The chimney hadn't been inspected or cleaned in probably 20 years, so we purchased an Angie's List deal for cleaning/inspection. There was some back-and-forth in getting a date scheduled to the service, but it didn't seem due to any negligence on part of the company - just a drawn out game of phone tag. They gave a three-hour window of when the service was to be performed, and ultimately came ten minutes past that window. However when they did come, they were very professional, clean, quick, and knowledgeable. They gave us a lot of recommendations, but there was no sales pressure which was refreshing. I hate being "up-sold", and would rather just know the condition and my options - which they gave us. In fact, they recommended some masonry work on the chimney, but reassured us that it wasn't an immediate safety concern and, due to the nature of the work, it would be in our best interest to wait until the spring when there is no more threat of frost. We had a good experience with this company and will likely call them back in the spring to do the repairs.

    Crystal Clean

Found this company via the local flyer that's put in all our mailboxes.  They are based in Pa but have "technicians" all over the place.  The "technician" arrived in a small car with his "tools" tossed in the back seat.  No lable on the car for business.. nadda.  He cleaned the chimney into the stove and stopped there saying " the boss doesn't want us to vaccume ashes etc"  so my husband had to sweep up all stuff that was pushed down into the stove himself... The "technician" never put down any drop cloths... and did not clean up .

The ad read " condo certificates"   yet we had to request that he write on the bill that the stove was cleaned and inspected... no certificate was given to us as promised when booking the appointment.

We were considering using this company for another condo complex that we own at for "dryer vent cleaning"  but have tried to get many things in writing from them and its been like pulling teeth getting one piece at a time.. with weeks inbetween each .  After this experience with the chimney cleaning we will NOT use them for anything else.

Greg was early, very friendly & professional. Service was reasonably priced. Went over work and made recommendations based on his evaluation from the inspection. Cleaned up everything before he left.

I am very impressed with Dublin City.  They went out of their way to solve an ongoing problem with our chimney.  The installation of a custom steel liner, which involved extensive demolition and rebuilding of the chimney, was done quickly  and cleanly.  The job site was cleaner when they left than when they arrived!  Even though the job required extra work which was not anticipated when quoted they were adamant about keeping to the original quote....despite my insistence that they should be compensated for the extra work.

I wish all contractors acted with this degree of integrity and professionalism.

    DM Remodeling
Looks great, very concerned with complying to code, even added extra support not required. Went the extra step to make sure the site was cleaned each day and even power washed old concrete slab when project was completed. Completed project in less time than expected and started when promised. Pricing was very fair. Used good quality lumber, much better than my local box store. Replaced all the flashing instead of just using the old flashing. Look forward to other projects with this company.

We had a pretty hefty water leak around our chimney and called Dublin to have them take a look. They were prompt in getting back to us to schedule a visit. Zack was professional and knowledgeable and gave us different options for addressing the issues. We decided to replace the flashing and it was complete less than 48 hours later. It rained all week and not a drop of water is visible inside the attic. We couldn't be more pleased with the service and quality of work. We will definitely be calling again!

    AM-PM Roofing
When we called AM/PM for a bid, we were very impressed with the professionalism, down-to-earth attitude and willingness to listen to, and answer our questions.
The co-owner Paul, kept us informed at all times regarding timing of every aspect of the job. He let us know when supplies were ordered, when they arrived, when the dumpster would be delivered, and when his crew would arrive.  Everyone was here very promptly and took great care to protect all our landscaping prior to tearing off the existing roof.  Each person I spoke with was polite, and well informed.  They took the time from their work to explain what they were doing, what had been found about the previous roof, and answer any questions I might have.
I had expressed concerns about roofing nails that might be left on the ground since I'm frequently barefoot and we also have a dog running around.  The guys took great care to be sure the area was thoroughly cleaned up both days.  I also mentioned how I disliked the look of all the tar that had been put on the chimney previously.  The person working on that was very meticulous about getting it all off and redoing the chimney so now it looks so much better!  The new seamless gutters really frame the new roof beautifully.  And the gutter guards will keep my husband off that ladder!
Paul's brother, Don was on-site the entire time and was very approachable about any concerns or questions we might have.  The last day, no one seemed to be in a rush to leave even though it was getting late. They took the time to thoroughly clean up and chat with us a bit.
When the dumpster was picked up, Paul came back and checked the entire area for any left over nails or debris. He warned us that a few nails might fall out of the dumpster when it was moved and he came back with a magnet to make sure they were gone.
We were very impressed with the teamwork among the guys, the conscientious work ethic, and the great  job done.  The price was more than fair and the estimate was exactly what we were charged in the end.
We would hire AM/PM again in a heartbeat and certainly recommend them to anyone who needs a new roof or gutters!!

    Estimation
Estimation of the job took about an hour, during which any questions I had were answered and additional information was volunteered.  No attempt was made to pressure me into contracting with them, just a simple listing of costs (each of the items in the above list was given its own separate cost) and recommendations on which items were most time-sensitive and which could probably be delayed if needed.
    Work Performance
Work was completed in one day.  A work crew of three arrived mid-morning and worked until dark to make sure everything was completed.  Much as during the estimation process, the crew provided a large amount of information on how to ensure the chimney and the new stove were used correctly.  During the work, one of the pieces of the liner was damaged, and rather than try to use it or postpone the work, they went out and purchased a replacement piece so that the job could be finished on time; there was no additional charge for this piece.  The crown repair and cap installation were done using concrete, and they made sure to smooth and square it to be aesthetically pleasing.  They cleaned up the work site and left it as clean as when they started.  They also explained how to break the stove in properly, gave me permitting documents to be submitted to my town hall, and provided me a warranty card for my chimney liner, already filled out and ready to send.
I have used the insert since the day of the work, and it has performed well.  There is no trouble starting and maintaining a draft, no smoke has come into the house, and the electric blowers built into the insert work correctly.
    Overall
I was very impressed with the work performed by Dublin City Chimney Sweeps.  Everything from estimation to installation was low-pressure and well-performed.  It's clear from watching them work that they are very knowledgeable about chimneys and fireplaces, and they know the code and manufacturer's instructions well.  They may be a tad more expensive than other outfits, but it's worth it for the quality of work.

    Dublin City Chimney Sweeps
The guys from Dublin are terrific -- showed up for the original inspection of both chimneys and took pictures then took the time to explain everything to me.  Came back to do the work after the custom caps came in.  They arrived on time and went right to work accomplishing everything in one day.  They paid attention to the details and even did small extras like clean the bricks on the outside of the fireplace and explain the detailed operation of my woodstove to me.  I couldn't be happier and will always call for Zack and Ryan when I need chimney work!  Zack gets bonus points for removing the wasp's nest that was growing next to on of the chimneys.

    Armstrong Chimney Services LLC
In 2012 - when Armstrong inspected the liner - I told the service person that I was charged alot of money for 5 minutes work and he replied that things were expensive and gas was expensive.  At that moment I decided not to work with this company again.  I had a few words with the owner in 2013 because they for some strange reason had automatically scheduled an appointment for me and I had to call them to inform them their services were not needed on that or any date.
I called in another company this year to inspect my chimney liner, a company that 10 years ago had fixed my chimney and capped it for me.  They did this last week (8/2013).
It turns out the liner was glued in at the top and you are supposed to put it in place with concrete.  In addition to that they ruined all the work I had done to cap my chimney because they hacked out the concrete for the cap to put into the liner and never sealed it properly.  Because of their lack of quality work - which also included not insulating the liner (something recommended by the furnace manufacturer), water was leaking inside which created cracks in
the chimney near the top.    I need to have this repaired now.  I was actually shown pictures of what they did and what the job correctly done is supposed to look  like.  It was night and day.
I learned I was overcharged for the work.  Something like this can be done with professional results with the liner being insulated as recommended by the burner company for about 1500 - 1550 dollars.  I was charged 1800.00
It is one thing for someone to come to your house and be courteous and clean up after themselves.
It is another to complete a job with quality workmanship and that's what I expect.  For that I give this company a really low rating - especially for what they charged.  I personally would never work with them again.
