Overall, I am satisfied with the work, but was expecting more attention to detail and supervision of the subcontractors. I felt that it seems that there is a push to get the 20% over the budget target.

    Handyworks Remodeling and Design, Inc.
Handyworks Remodeling of Wallingford CT did an exceptional job of remodeling the kitchen. We were working with a limited budget and after providing our wish list Handyworks came through with an estimate within our budget. The remodel team and the project manager, David Denecke, provided us with everything we hoped for and more. The job was completed on time and within budget. And most importantly, we knew we could trust the workers in our home on a daily basis to treat our home as if it were their own. Highly recommend Handyworks Remodeling of Wallingford for all your remodeling needs.

I recently bought the house and had some fixing up to do. I got a few bids and this company was the most reasonable. They estimated 5 days to tile the floor, framed out, install all the drywall, and install the doors (2 single and 1 double) in the laundry. Kevin showed up on time for the first day of work and everyday after. He left the placed so neat and tidy after everyday of work. He also finished early, completing the work in 4 days. Definitely using these guys again.

Most of this was piping repair and reconfiguration behind the walls; since it's not leaking, I'm assuming it was done right. The updated fixtures needed a different configuration of piping to be correctly installed, that went fine. The repair of the wall and ceramic tile replacement look fine.
I left husband and plumber in charge of the 'look' of the tiles during the finishing. The resulting tile pattern, approved by both my husband and the plumber, was something I never would have approved. And after taking a poll of more than 2 dozen other people, most people would have had it ripped out and replaced with a symmetrical pattern. So if the 'look' matters to you, make sure you are absolutely clear about how you want it to look.

    Langdeau Carpentry & Remodeling
On 28 March, 2014, Jeff Langdeau looked at all the areas I needed to have repaired, and promptly announced that this was way more than four hours worth of work. I agreed with him completely and inquired about getting an estimate for the work. He said he could/would do so, and left. No work was done that day as it was not a scheduled appointment nor was he prepared for it then, as he was "just in the area" when he came by.

I waited sometime before contacting him again as I assumed I would get an estimate of some sort and we could proceed with the work. I never did get an estimate of any kind. I got messages to call his cell, but no messages of when he could come do the four hour little job(s), much less anything above and beyond that. From there it became a protracted form of missed phone calls on both of our parts due to busy lives. He also said that he was really only supposed to contact me (or other customers) via the messages on Angie's list site and that he wasn't allowed to give estimates other ways. This is not what he had said the day he stopped by.

I recently revisited this issue and called him the 15th of June 2015  (over a year after last speaking with him). He insisted that he'd contacted me over and over and never heard back from me, which was not entirely accurate. According to him this time, he said he never writes estimates and that isn't how business is done anymore; it's all done via phone or email. I wonder why in any of the supposedly multiple times he called me, he never left an estimate then?  He also said he'd had this same problem with other people who said they weren't able to get in touch with him and it must have been a problem with their answering machines or emails or something. He said that whenever anyone calls him it goes right to his cell and he always calls back right away. Again, not quite the way it worked from my experience with him. I do remember that he said he was really busy and wasn't able to always get back to people right away at the beginning of this whole experience.

On the last and most recent conversation with him he commented that Angie's list isn't really fair to the contractors or the customers because they don't tell you what the deals really are and that they are all written by the people at 'Angie's List', not the contractor. He claimed that the contractor's aren't even really paid (or hardly get anything at all) because the money we as customers pay all goes to 'Angie's List', not the contractor. One of his last comments regarding working was that Angie's List had just called him to ask him to do another deal and in his words he told them "no way because it's a big rip off".

Bottom line: No work ever done, no form of reliable communication.

Mysteriously, a "review" seems to have been posted on my account on the same day he showed up unannounced saying that he would get an "A" rating, did great work, cleaned up after himself, was a fabulous and really, really nice guy. Not only did I not write that review, it was not even written the way I write, so I don't know what that is about.

John Sigel came to see the job and get our ideas of what we wanted done. He also gave us suggestions we hadn't thought of, which worked out perfectly. Their estimate was right in line with others we received. We found out that someone we knew had used the Sigel Brothers in the past. We called him, and he was very pleased with their work, and highly recommended them. We have to agree! They did an excellent job. Anthony was on site every day. He and his guys were always professional, punctual and did not leave until their workspace was clean. For all the work we had done, there was virtually no mess.
When their floor guy cancelled out a couple days before the scheduled time, they found another to do the work on the days they had promised us. The floors came out better than we even expected.
They started and ended the job when they promised, and that was even with us adding a few little things in there from time to time.
We are thrilled with the job they did. Their work ethic and performance were excellent.
We have already recommended John and Anthony to friends. Not only do we recommend them, but we will be using them for a bathroom renovation in the near future.

Well, Leo has done it again.  He took my tiny, old, tired bathroom and created a soothing oasis of calm.  The old bathroom (wish I had thought to take "before" photos) didn't have any room to move because of very poor space planning.  I wasn't sure if much of anything could be done to make the space usable - but Leo worked his magic and now the bathroom is beautiful!
Since this was the master bathroom, we decided to paint the master bedroom, add crown moulding and refinish the floor at the same time.  Old houses always have more than meets the eye and true to form, while painting the ceiling Leo discovered that we had a leak in the roof.  Fortunately he was able to fix the problem and complete the job.
I will never use anyone but Excalibur Construction!

We have a small bedroom that still had the old plaster walls and popcorn ceiling. The room was freezing in the winter and smoldering in the summer. We had paid for foam insulation when we first moved in (6 years ago) but it wasn't doing the job. I contacted Ralph and actually forgot the time I was supposed to meet him but luckily Ralph is a very professional and has a great sense of humor and didn't get upset at all at my forgetfulness. He quoted for the work and material, I agreed and we setup a date for the following week for him to get started. He should up early each day and jumped right into it. It took about one extra day then stated but the job was completed to our satisfaction. All that's left to do is to paint the room. It was a pleasure working with Ralph. I recommend him and I will be working with him again on other projects we have in our home.
