    Really good, fair service, the service technician was delightful, thorough and persistent is resolving issues. While one expects a service provider to do work on a timely basis I was genuinely appreciative of workmen like manner, professionalism and satisfaction of outcome. In sum they came as promised; provided services as offered and recommended and completed on time and on budget as promised. Three cheers for saying what you are going to do and doing what you said would likely use again as of this writing.

    Carl Wade was our technician. He was very helpful and professional. He understood our need to decide between a repair or a new appliance. He quickly spotted the problem, went over the expense including the cot of the part and the next visit to install the part.     Looked at the refrigerator said the compressor was low on coolant and it was a sealed unit and he did not work on sealed units and I should call the manufacturer and gave me a bull for $160.00. The manufacturer sent out another repairman who replaced a clogged drain plug and the refrigerator is working perfectly.

    Larry was excellent. Before coming out he did a little trouble shooting on the phone to make sure there wasn't an easily correctable problem (like settings for fridge and freezer) that might have caused our fridge to stop cooling. He was able to respond to our call within 2 hours, making time to stop by after a prior appointment. He did his best to locate the part we needed, but in the end it had to be ordered for pickup the following day. Arrived promptly the next day with the part and installed it quickly. Would highly recommend Larry for any major appliance repair in your home.

    roblem was I had an electrical short which fried a microwave and made the refrigerator not work.  I called on a Thursday and didn't hear back. I called again Sunday night and left a message saying I was calling someone else. He called right back and arranged to come on noon Monday. He arrived on time and expressed concern that Samsung refirgerators were difficult, but he quickly determined that the problem was in the inverter board and it was probably just a blown fuse. I was surprised that he didn't have any fuses in his truck, but I went to radio shack that night and bought some ($4) and that fixed the problem.
    Since he was there, we asked him to look at the dishwasher, which hadn't been cleaning the top rack well for six months or so. I had previously taken it apart and cleaned it and replaced a part or two which seemed worn. He quickly saw that the chopper had fallen apart and a lock nut was missing and it needed to be replaced.  The only issue I had was that he ordered the part from a local supplier instead of directly on the internet which would have gotten us the part in 48 hours. It was 8 days before he came back with the part and completed the repair, but now it works great. 
    He also had a quick look at an icemaker which actually had no issues and the icemaker in the Samsung, which has a small drip in it. He had never worked on that type before and didn't seem interested in tackling it, but he gave me some ideas on what the problem probably was and I'm following up.
    So I'd recommended him for mechanical issues with American made appliances. Professional, friendly, reasonably priced and flexible about looking at multiple issues in one service call.

    The repairman spent less than 5 minutes in diagnosis and did not run any tests or take apart the stove-top to look at it. After hearing my description of the problem, he immediately said the cause was the spark module and that I needed to replace it. Long story, short - the diagnosis was wrong and after we got more familiar with GE Monogram stove-tops, we realized it should have been obvious to the repairman if was knowledgable on our make of stove-tops, which A&J assured me they were when I set up the appointment.
    Here's the longer story - The repairman said it would be $229 (less the service call cost) for the labor to replace the spark module, plus $110 for the part, so I opted to have my husband do it.  After ordering the spark module and replacing it, my husband found that the problem wasn't the spark module at all. After finding that the stove-top still didn't ignite with the new spark module, my husband ran a quick test with a volt meter and found there was no power going into the spark module. (Why didn't the repairman do this test?) Then my husband found there was power going into the transformer but not out of the transformer. A wire goes from the transformer to the spark module. Bingo. The problem was the transformer. He ordered a new transformer, replaced the old one, and the stove is now fixed. After looking at the insides of the stove-top, we realized that the repairman really should have known it was the transformer all along, that is, if he knew GE Monogram stove-tops. I had told the repairman that the knobs used to light up, but were no longer doing so. After taking the stove apart, we could see that one wire goes from the transformer to the knobs and a separate wire goes from the transformer to the spark module. There isn't a wire from the spark module to the knobs. So, if the knobs aren't lighting up, then something besides the spark module is amiss. It's pretty straight forward.
    I called A&J back to express my disappointment, but they would not refund the cost of the service call. The person I talked to was polite and apologetic, but said "we all make mistakes sometimes".  I can't believe I paid $85 for them not to run a single test or look anything up. I didn't get much service for the service call. The man I spoke to on the phone said that if we had hired him to do the labor, then they would have installed the spark module, realized their mistake, returned the spark module, and installed the transformer without charging more (except for any difference in the cost for the parts). So, they claim to stand behind their work if they do the labor. Evidently, that doesn't apply to service calls. Let the buyer beware!
    I also called around, after the fact, asking other providers what they charge to replace spark modules and found that A&J's prices were higher than other independents (although cheaper than GE's service center). The spark module took my husband less than 30 minutes to replace, and he's never done it before, so I'm guessing it's even faster for someone experienced. $229 (plus tax). This feels like a lot of money for less than 30 minutes labor.
    I will say that the repairman was helpful, prompt, and nice. He even offered that if my husband was handy, he should be able to install the spark module himself because it was straight forward to do. My only complaint was that the repairman wasn't knowledgable on my make of stove-top. When I called to make the appointment, I specifically asked if they were knowledgable on GE stove-tops, and they assured me that they were. Not true, at least not for my (newer) model.
    I'll also add the GE appliance service center is even more expensive. Presumably, they would know GE appliances, but they charge substantially more for a service call and then charge for parts and labor on top of that without crediting the cost of the service call. The person answering their phones wasn't knowledgable in the slightest. He just answered phones and scheduled appointments. I guess you have to trust that they will send someone who knows what they are doing. For this reason, If I had to do it over again, I would still stick with an independent. They were cheaper than GE and many were knowledgable on the phone.

    They found that the damage was more extensive then anticipated and recommended getting a new machine because the old one was not worth sinking money into. I really appreciate an honest assessment, especially when it means turning down a job. Even more amazing: here was no charge for the visit. Other repair providers in the area wanted to charge $75-100 just to walk in the door.
    I will absolutely use A&J for all future repairs and recommend them to our friends and family.

    I phoned for service on a Bosch dishwasher. The appointment was made for a prompt service. They called to ask if he could come a day early! I thought that was great. The serviceman came and looked at the machine. I suggested that the machine was known to have problems with its control board. He agreed and said it was most likely the heating element and the control board which would be so expensive to replace, he thought we should consider a new machine! I reminded him that the machine was only 5 years old. I told him that I had looked at the mfg parts site and saw the price for at least one of the parts was only $90 and the second was about $100. I asked if they had the parts in stock and was advised that his office would check and provide a parts and service estimate within the next day or two. After 3 days without hearing from them, I phoned and left a message asking for the estimate. I phoned a second time 2 days later. I never received a reply. I ordered a part from Bosch, received it in 2 days and phoned another service company who came within 24 hours and replaced the broken part with my order. I would not recommend Dave's. They charged @$100 and did not even call with an estimate or return my calls to say they couldn't do the work. How rude.
