Pet Care & Health reviews in Danbury

We moved to the area a year ago and Mill Plain have been our vet since we arrived. They are absolutely wonderful. They really, really, really care about the animals. Our dog was deadly sick and they jumped straight into action. On top of that, they understand that costs, especially with a sick pet, can get out of hand. They made sure to let us know our different options and where ever possible, tried to decrease the cost for us.
The other great part is that they remember the dogs as soon as I say my name. The staff will even come in to visit our dog during the exam! When you have a sick pet, it is the scariest and most heartbreaking thing. They made us feel so reassured and safe. HANDS DOWN the BEST vet we've ever been to. The Doc's are great, straight shooters with a caring touch.
If you're looking for a vet with immense knowledge, experience, care and an amazing staff, you should definitely go to Mill Plain.

We had to put our dog to sleep during our most recent visit, but the staff was so kind and caring throughout the whole ordeal. It made a big difference. I have two other dogs and two cats who will continue their care with this practice. I HIGHLY recommend Mill Plain Vet. Your pet will be in great hands!

During the initial drop-off, everything seemed to be in order. They embrace technology advances less than other places, for example no forms to fill out prior to coming, nothing to schedule online, etc. They also didn't ask about an emergency contact until I did, and got a "oh yea" response. Other places seem to take that more seriously. Our puppy did require medication, in addition to his meal requirements. All directions were clearly written and provided on each container of food, including our own scoop for measuring. I called to checkin during the weekend and was told everything was fine and he was doing well.

On pickup, they brought out the puppy and all his food containers and toys. I had provided just enough food for the weekend plus on extra meal for an emergency. However, there was a day and a half of food left in the container, which they were unable to explain. Our puppy was also not willing to eat any meals after we returned home, and had developed a stomach ulcer. The medication he was taking required to be taken with food. But it seemed like they did not provide him enough food as requested in the directions. That may have caused the ulcer.

It took management a week to reply to my inquiry about the amount of food left, and they continued to state they gave him food as directed. Which was literally impossible.

We did not pay for the services provided because we didn't feel they matched what was stated. They did not object.

I have 6 cats and have been a customer of theirs since they opened in 2008. They have handled everything from spaying/neutering, routine annual visits, and emergency visits on various occasions.  They even went the extra mile to research medication prices when one of my cats developed sever asthma.

All staff members (front desk, vet techs, and vets) are professional, courteous, and friendly and know their customers and their "people". They all go out of their way to provide top notch service and are always sure that all questions are answered.

I love them and would never go anywhere else!  I would highly recommend them above all other vets in the area.

The entire grooming area is open for all to see, which makes it feel safe. I used to live in NYC and am used to over priced craziness - This place did what I needed them to do and at a great price, exactly to my specification.

Dr Chappa is a very knowledgeable Vet. She is very professional and is extremely kind to our pet who does not like going to the veterinarian's office. She takes time to explain everything and is very thorough. My dog does not like to have his nails trimmed but Dr. Chappa is always able to trim her nails so that my dog doesn't become anxious.

I have been taking my lab there for over 8 years and our new puppy has recently started daycamp. I have boarded our cats there as well. They are fantastic. Everyone there is an animal lover as is demonstrated by the care they give my animals. I never have to worry when I am away since there is someone there overnight with the boarders. I love that my pets are not caged and get tons of exercise. They also do fundraising events for local shelters and have a Halloween party and an Easter egg hunt. I love the staff - they are very patient and give great feedback. I cannot recommend WAGS highly enough!

I wanted to try new groomers in CT, and utilized Magic Touch for Willow (I'm providing a review for another groomer that I tried for my other dog Sparkie). My dogs have been groomed in Los Angeles, NYC, and CT. My favorite groomer is located in LA - but we're only able to get out there 2 times a year. I called up Magic Touch to schedule the appointment, and was frank that I was trying 2 different groomers for my 2 dogs. The salon was bright, big, and clean. I dropped off Willow, and Scott assessed her and we talked about the haircut. Willow was done in a couple of hours, and I was called for pick-up. The salon was great about holding her until I could pick her up in about an hour. I LOVED her cut around her face - they got the rounded look I wanted. I will be going back!

I have vets in NYC, CA, and CT. Dr. Heidinger and Marc (his office manager) are great. I have been utilizing Ridgefield Animal as my primary vet service for the last 2.5 years after I found them. Dr. Heidinger always takes the time to discuss issues during appointments, and always calls back on weekends (even Sundays) with the latest test results. Marc is always great about returning calls, and following up on any issues. Both Sparkie and Willow come here for preventive, routine, and emergency care. The practice is busy, and I believe reflective of the large community of pet owners that love the service. I also find the service prices to be really reasonable.

I wanted to try new groomers in CT, and utilized Beyond the Flea for Willow (I'm providing a review for another groomer that I tried for my other dog, Willow). My dogs have been groomed in Los Angeles, NYC, and CT. My favorite groomer is located in LA - but we're only able to get out there 2 times a year. I called up Beyond the Flea to schedule the appointment, and was frank that I was trying 2 different groomers for my 2 dogs. The owner spent tons of time with me on the phone while I explained what I was looking for. I really appreciated that time she took. When I explained I was grooming my 2 dogs at 2 different groomers to see the haircuts, and heard that Sparkie was a little neurotic and barks at the groomers if kenneled, she said I should bring him to them! I was impressed that she wanted to accommodate an older, anxious dog.
The salon was super busy. They set up a dog bed for Sparkie outside of the grooming kennels so that he had the option of not being kenneled. They prioritized Sparkie and took care of him within 90 mins. I think the cut suited Sparkie's face and is growing in beautifully.
