Remodeling Kitchen And Bath reviews in Coventry

We are highly satisfied with the results of the project completed by Irene’s Designs! We hired Irene to help us remodel the master bathroom and the kitchen. Irene’s designs were creative and sophisticated. She took in consideration our wishes, yet provided valuable suggestions reflecting her research of the latest interior design trends and the best materials that the market offers. It was a true pleasure to communicate with Irene and Gene who were patient, reliable, understanding and attentively listened to our remodeling wishes and needs. Their personable approach alleviated much of the stress that could be associated with any remodeling project. We were very impressed with the company’s high standards for cleanliness while completing the day-to-day work. We have two small children who were mostly at home while the remodeling project was under way; therefore we especially came to appreciate the care and the neatness demonstrated by the workers. All surface areas were meticulously cleaned at the end of each work day and the tools were stored away neatly. Every little detail of the project was perfected and brought to the highest level of customer satisfaction. Thank you!

Great! My husband and I did much of the remodel, but in the end, we needed a professional to finish the job. Shroyer Construction was able to customize trim in a 1933 original kitchen that came with some "interesting" measurements. In addition, they laid the tile backsplash and really made the new kitchen come together. Look at the pictures!

Good: The initial process of picking out things in the showroom was pleasant and low pressure. Kim was there to make suggestion as needed but was also comfortable with letting you look around and work things out for yourself. The workers that came to the house were professional, friendly and generally easy to be around while they worked. The foreman had a good head on his shoulders and was easy to work with and was good at "making it work". They handled existing house problems found along the way quickly without much delay to overall timeframe. When all was said and done Kim did work to "make things right". The bathrooms when completed looked good. Not amazing, but good considering the issues. Bad: It appeared that there was a lack of design and planning with this project. This felt to me like a very new company that had never taken on a remodel of this scale before. Starting from the initial estimate all the way thru to the end they seemed to be winging it. There seemed to be a lack of communication within the company. There was more than a few times I asked the foreman about something that was supposed to be done and the response I got was "Kim never mentioned that". They were about a week over when they actually got done vs the time frame we were given. That is also taking into account about a day's worth of extra work for existing house issues that were beyond their control and I will not include in their time overage. While they did clean the space at one point during the process, work that was done after their initial cleanup was left uncleaned. We found saw dust on the floor in the basement from where the electrician was drilling holes, drywall dust all over the new vanity and fixtures and wire scraps where outlets were replaced. Bottom Line: The whole process seemed way more chaotic and stressful then it needed to be. Between all the things that were missed or not taken into account, I felt like if I wasn't there we would not have gotten what we intended. The employees however, genuinely seemed to take pride in their work and worked to make things right. However the time that was required to improvise to make things work left them rushing to get the job done. Overall if they can work on their planning and internal communications this could be a good company. Details: The timeframe we got was a week and a half for the full project. We did say we wanted permits to be pulled and the estimate was still about a week and a half to two weeks. Day one foreman and helper showed up and I started showing him where he would be working. He seemed confused when I was showing him the kitchen and guest bath. All he knew about was the master. They were there for about 2hrs, did some demo and left. Later that day Kim did showed up with the electrician to pick up the check and show him the electrical that needed to be done. They were in and out in about 15min. I don’t know where the disconnect was but even with the instructions from Kim he still put in the wrong type of lights. Thus started the process and over the next 3+ weeks we ran into multiple instances where people just didn't seem to have the big picture and the foreman had to "make it work". Some of the issues we hit… Electrician didn't install the LED recessed lighting because he didn't like the look of them and the regular bulbs were cheaper. The foreman had to replace the fixtures with the LED lighting. Concrete backer board was not used when tiling the guest bathroom even though it was called out in the contract. They credited us for cost of backer board. Guest bath vanity top was ordered too small and had to be reordered. Reordered top still seems too small as the closed draws stick out past the counter top. Desire for a larger than normal shower nook/shelf was never communicated by Kim to the foreman. As the wall was already framed by the time the foreman asked where the shelf should go there was no easy way to put in a larger than normal shelf. Foreman had to improvise a double shelf by making a taller nook and shelf out of tile pieces. Master vanity was too big for the space they constructed for it. They ended up having to cut into the wall to get the vanity to fit. Then half of the draws wouldn't open and needed to be cut down to fit against the wall. Now vanity draws have a smooth finish on some sides and rough cut spray painted black sides where they were cut. The baseboard heat was also an issue with the new vanity. This however was known prior to the start of the project and there were discussions with Kim about dropping the pipe into the floor or raising the vanity so it would fit. This information was never communicated to the workers and as they had already retiled the floor and jammed the vanity in place they were forced to put the pipe in the outside wall. I could go on but I think you get the picture.

We hired Brian last year to refinish our master bathroom when we called him to have our roof and gutters done. A friend of mine had referred me to his services because of the work he had done on his roof and his brother and father’s roof (refer to my other review for his roofing work). The work he did on our bathroom really turned out great! See Photos! He asked us how long we were planning on living in our home and recommended going more high end since we plan on living in our home well hopefully forever. Rather than going with lower quality big box products, we went with higher end faucets, toilets, granite, tile...that come at a higher pricetag but should last a long time. We ended up going over-budget on our allowances but we figured we would only be redoing it once. Our granite really broke the budget but it's definitely the centerpiece of the bathroom and is really beautiful. We added a fan-tech ventilation system to our bathrooms which is a really nice unit. We have 3 vents in our main master bathroom and 1 vent in the spare bathroom. Brian recommended it and it works great! No steam build-up in either bathroom and it’s super quiet because the motor is mounted in the attic. It wasn’t cheap but I think it will help keep our bathroom clear of mildew or mold. Oh and he didn’t just vent everything into the attic. He spent extra time up on the latter cutting out an exhaust port on the side of the house. Brian really does nice work and I felt like he doesn’t take any shortcuts or skimp on materials. He wants things done correctly and in a way that his work is gonna last. I felt like any overages were reasonable, necessary, and not excessive. When he pulled the old shower out, there was considerable water damage to the subfloor that he recommended fixing. We even had him accomplish a few side jobs while he was working here. We had a wooden loft in my garage that I kept hitting my head on and he helped me raise it up. Our central vac system clogged up and he helped me clear it with my shop vac. He also mounted my tv antenna in the attic and snaked a cable wire into the basement. I had bought some tv cable and he told me to return bc he had a whole roll of it from some previous work. We would have had him redo our kitchen and laundry room but we were short of money to do everything that we wanted. One complaint was that he misquoted us for the shower door that turned out to be double the price of the quote. He could have just recommended putting a cheaper shower door on but I think he didn’t want to cheapen the job with a crappy door. I felt like it was just an honest mistake while looking for prices and probably more of a result of a misleading sale advertisement at one of the big box stores. He ended up working really hard putting in the shower door to make up for the error rather than making us pay the glass company $1000+ they wanted to install it. Everything Brian does seems to be well thought out. He doesn’t rush the project at all and works with you to really make everything custom. He spent considerable time working out the new angles on the tub/toilet area which really turned out nice! We really love the bevel that he put into the wall and the angle of the tub box. The molding on the shower piers really turned out nice. He spent some serious time on the position of the lights and mirrors over the cabinets to get them just right and even had to redo it once because my wife wasn't happy with how the spacing looked. He made sure the height of our shower was just right because I’m pretty tall and need to have my faucet up high. He’s also a big fan of lighting which my wife and I share his enthusiasm for! Our bathroom went from a very dark looking old bathroom to almost like a high end operating room! My wife loves the lighting for doing her makeup. Brian could have a second career as a painter because he does a really nice job. I wish i had spent time helping him paint to learn some of his tricks because he’s a really good painter.

Oliver was wonderful - very prompt in replying and setting up a time to meet and arrived on time to our house. He's obviously very skilled and knowledgable, my fiancé was very comfortable when meeting him (he's a fellow trades person.) We ended up going with another provider due to cost constraints but would absolutely contact Oliver to quote another project.

Oliver and his team did a fantastic job ? the basement was completely transformed into a part of our home that feels integrated into the other floors, whereas previously it felt outdated and completely alien to the rest of the house.
Oliver discovered a series of issues/problems behind the original wallpaper and wall paneling (see photos), and the Bauhaus team addressed those issues once and for all in a way that was seamless with the rest of the project.
Oliver is a perfectionist (which we appreciated), but he was also very sensitive to our concerns about increased costs associated with these surprise issues, and worked hard to keep the additional costs as low as possible. In the end, we ended up paying approximately $2k above the original estimate for a full overhaul of the electrical and almost a week of additional work on the walls.
Oliver also worked closely with us to identify the kind of environmentally-friendly materials that we wanted while also making sure we got ceiling tiles, carpeting, paint etc. that were appropriate for a basement, and would last and look good.
The job was done in a 100% professional manner ? the job site was cleaned up every day, Oliver and the team showed up on time every day of the job, and he communicated with us often about the progress of the project and expected completion.
The outcome (see attached pictures) speaks for itself ? the project was a huge success. We will definitely work with Bauhaus again and would recommend them to friends and family.

For the most part it was a good experience, however the contractor was more interested in finishing the job, getting final payment instead of making sure everything was to our satisfaction. We should have shopped around more, since I found out the price was most likely higher than it could have been.

The service was excellent – especially that provided by Dan Carpenter. He was extremely precise & extremely patient!!! My wife who has OCD & is very particular, changed her mind repeatedly & they handled it very professionally with no issues. He was very gentlemanly & cooperative – very likable, like Tom Hanks! Tom Hanks would be at his agent’s throat to get the part of Dan Carpenter because no one else could portray him as he could! He was very helpful in the procedure he showed in how to select a good contractor & overall provided outstanding service. He actually called to thank us for choosing their company & to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. He also noticed that I wasn't feeling well one day & that I had a medical condition - He dropped what we were doing & was very concerned.

I contacted Oliver at Bauhaus Construction to obtain a quote to complete some general carpentry and bathroom remodeling at my residence. Oliver was very patient with my requests, providing me with his insight and knowledge to help me understand the work that was being performed. He keep me appraised as the job progressed so that I would have a timeline of when the job would be completed. Oliver and his team were extremely professional during the entire course of the job. I was extremely happy with the job that was preformed and the work at my house turned out as he had originally explained. I would recommend Oliver of Bauhaus Construction and his team to anyone who needs to have any remodeling performed at their residence.

Some tradesmen are good. Some are really good. And some are artists! Bauhaus gives you the artist, who, beyond exceptional installation and workmanship, also selected the perfect tiles, fixtures, colors, etc. I was amazed at the quality of work, especially for the price which was much lower than expected. When he hit a small snag (reinstalling the shower door), he called a professional installer and reimbursed us for the price, even though we offered to pay the extra. We recommend Bauhaus without reservation. We want to add several hundred bathrooms to our house just to get to use them again.
