    TRP Construction
I hired Tom, owner of TRP, to do a 2.5 bathroom remodel at my mom's house. Let me preface my review with this: she had not showered in her house for over a year b/c of leaks (she showered at the gym daily!), out bathrooms were original from the 1970's, and we had one working toilet (out of three in the house). This was a big job of unidentified leaks, an elderly woman who is afraid of strangers in her house, and clueless clients (notably: me). Tom took the time to come and evaluate the job -- taking measurements and patiently going over what he thought the work would entail. Being on a budget, he was able to recommend options for us and though I was stressed initially about having to go and pick out things like faucets, shower stalls, flooring -- I wound up really enjoying this b/c Tom was patient and would help guide me along the way. I didn't feel lost despite the challenges of one small/odd shaped master bath b/c Tom would try his best to help me out in terms of what I needed to look for. In the midst of our job, which was going *on* schedule (late one day b/c the inspector couldn't get here on time due to the town inspector's schedule, NOT TRP!), we had a family emergency. I was afraid to tell Tom for fear he'd say "we have a schedule, this has to be done" because we were in no shape to manage the renovation w/ this family emergency--and I was worried about having to explain why we needed to stop a bit. Tom's immediate response was "Do what you need to do, you tell me when you are ready". This type of kindness was so unexpected and I am so grateful for his patience. It's something that would *of course* throw a wrench in all his planning because he has to juggle so many staff but he rolled with it. I tell you this because Tom is above all else, a kind hearted, genuine person. I feel you should know that when you hire him, you're hiring someone honest and professional--but also, a gentleman who works with a cadre of wonderful guys. Now: the work! Our bathrooms look SO great! His team was professional and prompt, and Tom kept me updated about what was happening when. He was responsive to my texts and was patient in explaining the issues. When we had an unidentified leak, both he and his project manager, Bob (my mom adored him), were there for hours caulking, testing and trying to get to the bottom of the problem before closing things up. I also adored his electrician, Lou, who was so deft with his work and so patient with all of my mom's weird, lengthy questions (well, they were all patient w/my mom's crazy questions: THANKS TRP!). In short: I talked to 4 contractors and Tom came in at an incredibly reasonable range--considering he has a team of people who will work together to get your job done, the price is more than competitive in my opinion. We had to add on one charge due to the inspector but even as I look at that cost, it was nothing outrageous and I was more or less on budget to what we could spend. I chose Tom given his reviews on here, and the fact that he responded when he told me would (a rare occurrence I think) were very important to me. The job would certainly have been done on time if not for us -- and to be honest, I'll miss chatting with Tom each morning. We would, no doubt, hire Tom again when the time comes--and I know we are recommending him to our friends/neighbors. I encourage you to hire Tom, Bob, John, Lou, Steve et al.! They made my VERY FIRST remodel job a truly pleasant experience. (FYI, my photos are before and afters!).

Paid upfront as part of a "Deal". Filled out my three potential available times and dates on Angie's List. Never heard from them. Called them after more than two weeks, talked to whomever answered, he gave me an email address to email him to set something up since he was on a job and couldn't do it then. Still didn't answer the email to schedule. Ended up canceling through Angie's List and got my money back. After sending yet another email through the website, heard from them again and they said the emails were going to an old account they didn't look at anymore and they would be calling me back to reschedule again. This is the second deal on Angie's List I've had to cancel because no one calls to schedule anything. Keep in mind that there is a reason these companies are offering "deals", when most reputable companies don't have to offer "deals" to get clients. Be very wary!

    TRP Construction
Tom and his team were fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone. I had TRP restore a water damaged section of my kitchen. Prior to the renovation, I had 5 skylights in the room replaced. The new skylights didnt line up with the existing trim work so it made for a very tricky project. Tom worked his magic and made them look perfect. He has a great crew who are both talented and professional. The work included tearing down the ceiling, re-dry walling, replacing trim around the windows, replacing recessed lighting and installing a new fan. What I liked most about working with Tom was that he was personally onsite every day, even when he didnt need to be. Much of the work was completed by his team, but regardless of whether he had anything to do, he stopped by every day to check on the progress. Additionally, Tom was very thorough and meticulous in reviewing the work. He noticed a few things that needed to be touched up that I hadnt even seen. He scheduled his guys back to fix it without me even asking. The room now looks better than when I bought the house. I would strongly suggest TRP to anyone. Tom will be my only call for any future work at my house.

    Apple Hill Construction LLC
Dan's work is fantastic. While his work on the crown moulding, trim, and other various things he did was wonderful (truly wonderful), I was extremely impressed with his paint work. I had deep, brick red  accent wall and was going to a light tan. You cannot tell there was every any red in that room. There were no drops on the floor and not even a slight missed brush stroke along the trim. He also painted the bathroom ceiling he replaced and it looks great! I would recommend him to anyone and everyone for any job, big or small, you may have. Whenever I have any work, I will only have one number to call from now on!

    Sweeneys Contracting
The job went very well.  I was a bit skeptical when Ralph said the job would take only 4 days, having been in the business a number of years ago, but Ralph and his crew finished the job in a timely way with excellent results.  I found Ralph to be honest and very concerned about customer satisfaction.  I have already asked him to price out another job for me.

    Fernandez Painting
I provided the paint, the plastic sheeting for my furniture and a few paint rollers.  Luis and his 2 men showed up at the appointed time, they worked efficiently and continuously, taking just a brief lunch hour.  I had them paint 5 rooms and a bathroom. My rooms were filled with so much extra furniture and things that I couldn't imagine how they were going to be able to paint them, but I had people standing by if we needed to move things out of the house for awhile. (I had other painters tell me that I would need to empty the rooms).  However, Luis and his crew never asked a thing of me and never complained.  They just went to work and did it all.  They patched a stress crack in my ceiling that is nearly invisible now,  They patched other holes and areas that were problematic.
It took an additional 10 hrs above the 40 hrs, but the results were so very worth it.  The house looks wonderful.  I am receiving compliments.  I didn't know how much painters get an hour, but Luis quoted me an hourly rate for the remaining 10 hrs and I agreed. It was well worth it.  I highly recommended company Fernandez painting.

    Better Built Basements LLC
Talk about unfinished to unbelievable!  Better Built Basements turned our basement into a new living space. We have a new tv room, kids play/rec room, and a new 1/2 bathroom.  The services provided included....Framing, insulation, drywall, plumbing, electrical (including baseboard heat), carpet, paint, ceramic tile, drop ceiling, closets, shelving, and added a new french door.  Also, all the little extra work that was completed was a treat.  Randy, Jim and Wayne are true professionals and were a pleasure to work with.  Kim and Kaitlyn from the office were excellent as well, always prompt to respond to our constant and annoying questions.   Every subcontractor that worked in our home from BBB were always courteous and respectful.  They always cleaned up when they were done.  I recommend them to anyone thinking about getting their basement finished.  Excellent work!
