We got their name from GE site listing authorized repair shops for our generator. Called and asked if they work on residential generators and they said "absolutely". They came within 48 hours, determined the battery was dead and took our battery back to their shop without asking. A paper was left saying the battery was dead and taken back to their shop. No one called to let us know what next steps were so we called them and were told a new one was being ordered and I'd hear back the next day, Friday, or Monday. The following Tuesday, having not heard from them, we called again and were told they were backed up because of the recent snow and slowness on the part of their parts distributor to get the battery and annual-service kit. We were anxious to get the battery put in because the weather was poor, the power goes out frequently where we live, we have two children under 3, and no electric at our house means no heat or water. We were told someone would be there Thursday or Friday. On Friday, after hearing nothing, we called again and were told they were backlogged with emergencies.
When we said that we'd been waiting a long time simply to get the battery replaced so the generator could be used in an emergency -- something we could have done ourselves had they not taken our old battery without asking, since the replacement turned out to be a NAPA battery in stock, locally -- we were told, in two separate conversations, and emphatically, that their name was ACDC *INDUSTRIAL* and that residential customers' concerns come last after their industrial clients. That was quite a different take than when we first called. They apologized for taking our battery without asking, admitting that was inappropriate. They sent a "shop tech" to install the battery and do the annual service making clear that he was not tooled to fix the generator if the new battery wasn't a complete fix.The shop tech arrived, as promised and did the battery install and service. The generator fired up, but the issue that no low battery error code ever was given by the generator was not investigated.
    The charges were:
    Diagnosis: $95
Daily Truck Charge: $75 (we live 17mi from the shop, for reference)
    Annual Service $325
Battery: $119 ($80.10 at NAPA in Plainfield)

Firstly, he is a super nice person.  Very professional and not out to overcharge you. He did some work for my 82 year old mother and she was very happy. But she is home all day and he can come anytime as she is retired.
For myself it was more difficult. After three weeks of telephone tag (beginning of Nov ) , we finally met to prepare a quote. Indicated I had Dec 18th & 19th off to do the work.He removed the ceiling fan at the initial estimate visit. (Nov 28th), called a few days later to quote, set a date to install it for Dec 5th after 6pm.  Bad weather, no show, no call.  I called him early morning  Dec 12th, he came at 4:30 pm that night to install the fan motor as I was booked with appts that day.  Made a date for Dec 18th to do some painting.  Indicated he would text or call if it was a problem.  No show, no text, no call.  In my experience, he does not conduct phone business after 5pm or on the weekends.  I left my initial message on a Friday afternoon, he left me a message on Monday morning at about 9am indicating he had time that day and could come out and look at what I needed.  I left a voice message for him when I got home, and again he called a few days later, in the morning, even after I had indicated I worked and got home after 6 pm or had Fridays off. He seems to be well suited for the retirees, but not the working population.
I would also add that I did not get a written estimate for the several items quoted.  I do not know if a discount for being an Angie's list member was applied.  I did not ask my mother if she got a written bill or a senior discount.  I do not think she did.
