Hazard Remediation reviews in Bridgeport

The Technician was in constant contact with us and was able to do the service earlier than originally scheduled. That worked out fine for us and he arrived promptly and quickly identified the area(s) that needed to be tested and possible remediation. He took samples for testing purposes and made recommendations based on his experience. (Turns out....he was correct....) We received the results by the following week. The only downside was....we were told that the Angie's List coupon for 10% off the service was not eligible. That's why we gave them a "B" for pricing. We felt that it was a fair price but nothing special.

Found out I had radon after the buyer of my home did their inspection, and had a pretty tight window to have a system installed and air re-tested. I called Fernando and he was at my house the next day. I thought he was just going to check it out on the first visit; instead he went ahead and installed the system on the spot. Very professional, very nice to deal with. He was conscious of installing the system so that the output would be in an inconspicuous spot in the back of the house, something I was worried about. Air re-testing went great with barely a trace of radon, way below the allowable level. Great experience - would highly recommend.

Dennis and Brian from BioClean couldn't have been any more professional, or honest! They were able to schedule a same-day appointment, and were exactly on time. Within minutes of entering the home, they measured for airborne particulates, and indicated that the levels were not very high at all. They proceeded throughout the home, entered the attic and inspected the air handler, and concluded that everything looked fine - even in the areas we would never have thought to check. What they did discover was that there is some moisture in the basement that may be coming from a leaky toilet. We never had any idea! With the free inspection coupon (found here on Angie's list), they did not make any money at all - but less honest people could have told us anything and we probably would have believed it, and paid through the nose. It's companies like this that remind me that there are good people out there! Thank you, BioClean! Should we need your services after the toilet repair, we will DEFINITELY call you.

What a surprisingly wonderful experience we had with BioClean. I was able to schedule a same day appointment, and Brian and Dennis showed up exactly on time. Both men are absolute professionals, and are extremely honest! Within minutes of entering the home, they measured the air for particulates, and said that it wasn't a high reading at all. They proceeded to test around our home, and also up in the attic where the air handler is. The thought to look in places we never would have thought to look, but they said everything was actually in good condition. We did figure out that there is moisture in the basement coming from what may be a leaky toilet on the main floor - which we never would have known. The took their time, were very thorough, and made no money from us (with the free estimate coupon they posted here on Angie's List). They could have told us anything, and we would have believed it (and probably paid through the nose). But - these guys truly are wonderful, honest, and professional. If we have more work to do after the plumber comes to fix the leak, we will DEFINITELY call them to do the work. On a scale of 1 to 10, they are a 43.

Jeff came to my house as promised and on time to assess my asbestos and mold issue in basement as well as give me an idea about how they would address wet basement issues.   He seemed very knowledgable, was extremely professional and helpful.  He gave me a ton of info, some great advice and explained clearly what they would do and how they would do it.   I was very confident that I had found the right provider, was excited to work with him and barring an outrageous quote was definitely planning on going with them.

unfortunately the quote never came.  I waited over a week and then called.  Spoke with someone who said they would talk to Jeff and get back to me that day.  Did not hear from them.  I waited another week or so and called again, got voicemail, left a very detailed message about what I had experienced so far but was also clear I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and still work with them based on my initial meeting if they could explain the delay.  Still did not hear back from them.  Finally, found the card Jeff gave me in my car another week or so later and tried a direct email.  Again, radio silence.

Based on other reviews I've seen here this seems a rather common complaint.  I'm not sure why, as I would have been ok waiting several weeks/months for them to do the work if a busy schedule was the issue if only they had told me that.  This complete lack of follow up communication is both puzzling and frustrating and extremely unprofessional.

Fernando was very responsive - he found that in addition to a new fan, the system had not been installed properly and he had to reconfigure the piping to meet regulations. He was able to complete the job the same day. He also was very helpful in pointing out a few other basement items that could use tending as well as explaining the changes he made.

America One Abatement was a great help in responding in a timely manner. They were thorough in looking into an area of question about asbestos, and tested for same. After finding some mold, they came out and removed the mold in the proper way.  They were always responsive, and supplied necessary documentation.

The interaction with this contractor has been terrible from the beginning. From the first appointment for them to come out to perform the work of the purchased deal, they called and cancelled to reschedule. The first day they came out the contractor informed my mother (she owns the house) that the required work would be beyond what the deal covers and they would be able to do the work for apx 6000 dollars. However if she paid them in full up front, they would reduce the price to 4100. My mother agreed and paid using her credit card. The contractor informed my mother he would return that day with additional equipment and a contract. He did not return that day. The next day (12/2/15) he returned with the equipment, began working however stated he forgot the contract and would have the office email the contract. Three days later, after multiple excuses for not returning to complete work and for not sending contract, a contract was faxed with multiple missing items. My mother informed him of this and stated he would fix the contract and bring a new one with him. On 12/18/15, contractor returned after a week and a half of excuses for not returning. Stated this will be a 6 hour day and the work will be completed. After 4 hours the contractor left and stated that he must return the following Monday to complete and promised that all work would be completed. Following Monday 12/21/15, nobody showed up. Stated he would be out on 12/23. On 12/23, called and stated there was a water emergency and that he would not be able to come that day. Now coming 12/27. Arrived and hour and a half past stated time, removed all machines and equipment, removed a small amount of drywall, damaged the wall in the stairway while removing equipment. Said he needs to return with special drywall that he had to still order. Supposed to return 1/2/16 to complete and no call no show. Emailed later in the day stating that he could not get a crew together and would come the following Saturday. Prior to that Saturday, it was determined that neither the contractor or the company he is representing have a license to do work in Connecticut. Several attempts to contact him have been made since 1/2/16 and there have been no returned calls.

After receiving a high radon test in my home inspection report, I contacted Fernando to evaluate my situation and provide an estimate for the installation of the system.  Fernando returned my call in a timely manner and communication was good throughout the process.  The work was performed the day after he came out for the estimate, and Fernando and his son installed the system in a little over an hour.  Both were efficient and pleasant to deal with and their work and clean-up was great.  I asked about the possibility of needing a sump pump as well, and instead of trying to sell me on one he evaluated my situation and then told me he didn't think I needed one.  Very upfront and honest.  I would absolutely use Fernando again.

They came out to take a look at our system, we made a decision as to the size of the system we would need, and made an appointment. Fernando came a couple weeks later, at the agreed upon date and installed the radon mitigation. Everything working well, he was prompt, polite, easy to deal with, answered all questions, and about as straightforward as one can be. The cost was exactly what he said it would be, and he even took extra time at our home to install it because the space was difficult to work in. And yet Fernando was incredibly professional.
