    Technician arrived on time, determined that compressor was not working. Tried replacing a relay that controls the compressor and this got it working, but he explained that the compressor was working extra hard because of a loss of freon and there was a good likelihood that it would blow out the new relay within a couple of months. We elected to have the new relay taken out and give up on the refrigerator. We paid the service call charge. Later in the day I bought a new refrigerator.

    It went well. They diagnosed the problem and had to order the part because the compactor was fairly old. This required a return visit when they completed the repair. The compactor has been working well since then.

    he fixed the problem and informed me that the washer (which came with the house in 2007) is over 40 years old! today's fix was easy but due to age, there no parts available for a major repair on the workhorse of a machine!

    Problem seems to be resolved. Diagnosis was probably correct and issue addressed appropriately.
    Delia does a better job than the service department of Viking retailers. They are more knowledgeable and seem better able to pin point the problems. This is important as Viking products tend to have lots of problems.

    The technician who showed up didn’t know what he was doing.  He spent a lot of time trying to look up how to install the part.  We ended up having it taken out and put it back in ourselves later.  He also said that it would be a $300 to $400 repair on our dishwasher.  We didn’t listen to him and we didn’t let him order parts that we wanted to order.  They were very responsive and got here pretty quickly.  We then called the manufacturer directly.  Then the technician from there came and installed the part properly.  He also fixed the dishwasher with our vacuum.

    • - $80 service charge that General Appliance applies to all calls and is not applied to the total labor cost of the visit
    • - $136.65 parts and installation
    • - $7.50 shipping and handling
    • - $14.23 CT tax
    • I think $100 for labor plus $80 for the visit (travel time?) was exorbitant and will not use General Appliance again nor will I recommend them to anyone.

    Overall excellent experience! Marty worked with our schedule and arrived right on time. He was very pleasant and great conversation. He let me prod him with appliance questions as he worked and diagnosed our fridges problem as a dead fan in the freezer in about five minutes. He had this replaced and running in about twenty minutes. He also instructed us on how to keep our fridge happy and healthy.

    The washing machine went just as smooth. He took the cover off and diagnosed this problem as a loose pulley connected to the motor and the pump. This just need a little oil and a slight adjustment.

    We received both appliances with the house we just purchased so Marty saved us a fortune as far as we're concerned. We didn't have to replace anything and we could wash our clothes and eat fresh food! What's better than that?!

    The oven in my GE range was not lighting and these folks were recommended by my local retailer for repairs because they do not carry GE products. The scheduler was friendly and a call was scheduled for between 1 and 5 the next day. As promised, the service tech called my office to give me a heads up on his arrival so I was not stuck at home all afternoon. The problem was diagnosed promptly and the part (an igniter) was in the truck so the repair was performed immediately. John and his assistant Chris were extremely helpful and efficient. There was a $75 charge for the call and about $157 for the part. All in all, I was very satisfied. The company is also an appliance retailer.

    My dryer had stopped running altogether. Richard was able to identify the problem immediately, ordered the part (a new thermostat) and came back to install it several days later. He cleaned out the lint from inside the machine (it still gathered in one place even though I clean it out after every cycle) and noted that the airflow was good, but it might still need to have the dryer vent cleaned. He and his wife Donna, who comes out on all of the calls, too, and handles the business end of things) came back immediately when I called to say that the dryer was running very hot. It turned out that there was a lot of backup in the dryer vent. They were nice enough to look up the numbers of businesses who clean dryer vents and to tell me what to look for and questions to ask of them. Overall, after having Richard out for this problem, I wouldn't call anyone else next time I have an appliance in need of repair.
