    Karol Construction LLC
I would recommend Karol Construction without hesitation. He and his crew were prompt, courteous and professional, and their site cleanup was meticulous. This was a tricky job, replacing four oversized windows set on a pitch. The wood on the sides and below was very rotted. Karol's vendor told him the windows would take 4-6 weeks to manufacture, but when I asked him if he could expedite the job, he contacted them and got the job done in 3 weeks. I was astounded. He was on site both days, and the crew showed up exactly on time. They cleaned everything very thoroughly. I own an older home and have done lots of renovations, and working with Karol Construction was the best experience with a contractor I have ever had.

Rick and his team are the best. I've worked with a number of contractors before and the thing I hate the most is a condescending contractor. I want to rely on the contractor's advice, but I want all the information and I want to make the decision myself. Rick was very informative and knowledgeable but always explained things so I could make an informed decision.
I'd have to say though that the best thing about working with Rick is that the responsiveness is amazing. I'm a pain in the butt - I have questions on a daily basis and I like things perfect. Rick responded to my texts and e-mails extremely quickly and was always willing to put up with my questions and requests. He went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable with everything that they were doing.
Regarding price, Rick wasn't the cheapest but he used the best materials. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell us on a product that he was contractually obligated to use, like I did with a few other contractors we got quotes from. He was competitively priced. To add to that, he was willing to do our small little addition, which saved us a TON of money than if we had contracted someone separately to do that. We love our new mudroom.
Rick continues to be responsive now that the work is done. We were feeling a draft coming from one of our doors and he and his son came over on more than one occasion to figure out why and fix it. The draft is much better.
We haven't had the siding and windows for very long but so far we've been happy with the quality of work. The house definitely stayed warmer longer in the winter when we turned the heat off at night. Nothing's broken or fallen off (and I'm sure Rick would fix it if it did) and the house looks great!!!

We found Precision Energy Systems through Angie's List.  Jeremy, the business owner, came out to our house to show us videos of some of his prior projects.  He was very proud of the craftsmanship that he and his crew showed in completing these projects.  He gave us literature for the product that he uses and explained the advantages of the insulated siding.  He explained that this siding was more expensive than what many of his competitors offer because they typically offer hollow backed siding.  He told us how he and his crew would wrap the exterior windows so that they would look like picture frames.  He explained some of the major differences between his company and some of his local competitors when it comes to product quality and the quality of the installation.  He explained where we would see seams in the siding and where there wouldn't be seams. He gave us the addresses of 3 recently completed projects.  We also explored the possibility of having him install vinyl shakes that look like cedar, but that was far too expensive for our budget.

We contacted 2 other companies for quotes.  One company did not respond but one did.  The other company quoted $26,500 to remove the old cedar shakes, use hollow backed double 6" siding but putting foam insulation on the house first, and all of the repair items found during the removal of the old cedar shakes would cost extra.  Their window wrapping sample was also very simple and boxy.

We researched the products offered by both companies on Consumer Reports and we found that the Prodigy product offered by Precision Energy does cost twice as much as the product offered by his competitor.  We went to the 3 houses that Jeremy recently completed and found that the quality of the jobs looked outstanding.  We met with Jeremy to get his final quote and an estimated start date.  We received his quote, bargained a bit and settled on the final price of $31,000.  He said he could start in a week because he was wrapping up another job.  3 days later we paid him 1/2 of the total cost up front.  We agreed to take care of getting the dumpster in place for the old shakes and getting the permit from the town of Avon which saved us a little money.

The new siding arrived 2 days before the planned start date and the dumpster came on the same day.  Jeremy and his crew were here the day that he promised and started ripping the old shakes off of the house.  They completed this in 3 days and wrapped the house with Tyvek as they ripped off the old shakes.  It took them longer than planned because many of the old shakes were rotted and they broke into little pieces when they were being removed.  (Jeremy's crew cleaned up all of this debris out of our shrubbery each day except for a few small pieces.)  They then removed the old gutters.  This is when they found that the prior gutters had been installed improperly by the prior owner.  The prior owner had metal extensions installed every foot or so along the gutter so that they would hang in the proper place at the base of the shingles on the garage.  Jeremy asked if it was ok for his crew to build out this area around the perimeter of the garage roof to allow for proper gutter installation at the end of the project.  We gave him the green light on this, which cost us an additional 6  hours of labor for 2 men.  At about this time we paid Jeremy the next 25% of the cost of the job.

Next the crew went through and installed gorgeous aluminum wraps around each of the windows on the house.  Each window looks like it has a picture frame around it.  We had the windows replaced 2 years prior, but if we hadn't done that we would have had Jeremy's crew install new windows as well!.

They started installing the new siding and fascia on our attached garage next.  Jeremy found that an old door that we never used on the upper level of the garage had a lot of rot around it, so we asked him to remove the door and fill in the area.  He went to Home Depot to get the plywood and 2x4s to fill this in.  This didn't slow down the crew at all.  In 2 days they completed the garage.  Jeremy personally installed a replacement door on the rear of the garage.

The crew next moved on to the rear of the house and went very quickly installing the fascia, siding, and vent/faucet covers there.  They then moved to the side of house and this phase of the project went very quickly.

They then moved to the front of the house.  This is when Jeremy contacted us about how he had some ideas on improving the look of our front door.  He showed us a brochure of decorative vinyl door surrounds that he had used previously and pointed out the prices of each.  He also showed us a brochure for a replacement front storm door.  After we selected these items, he was able to work with his supplier to get them here in 2 days so that his crew wouldn't be slowed down as they completed the front of the house.  The door surround and storm door arrived on time along with 3 additional squares of siding that was needed to finish the front of the house.  (We were not charged for the 3 additional squares of siding by Jeremy.)

Jeremy came out with one of his crew to put the finishing touches on the front door and install a storm door on the rear garage door.  His subcontractor came the next day and installed all of the new gutters.  The entire job was completed in 17 days and came out looking wonderful.  They did a great job a planning out how the siding was hung to minimize the number of visible seams.

Jeremy stopped by and brought receipts for the front storm door and door surround that were not part of his original estimate.  We paid him for these items plus the additional labor for the garage/gutter build out and the installation of the front door surround and storm door.  We also paid the final 25% for the job.

Our experience with Precision Energy was outstanding.    Jeremy was very pleasant to deal with and his crew are real craftsmen.  Their ability to complete the job when promised, even with some of the issues that came up, was also part of our excellent experience.  We recommend them to anyone who has a large exterior project like ours.

We called to ask for an estimate for some window replacement. On the day of the scheduled estimate the salesman arrived an hour early (I wasn't home) despite my calling to confirm the time earlier. I was told I would receive the estimate the following day. After a week passed, I called and asked where it was. The salesman said he like to come back out to talk about it. I asked to just have it emailed to me at that point. A few days later, I received it the mail. It was the highest of the three estimates I received and the actions of that particular salesman left me with no confidence that the job would be well done

This is the second time I have used Jeffery.  Both times he gave me a true estimate and the work was well done and on time.  The first time I used Jeffery to replace some clapboard.  Having a wood house, before it is painted there are usually some cracked or decaying clapboards that need to be replaced. Jeffery came and replaced numerous boards and after the house was painted everything looked perfect.
This time was more difficult.  Boards had to be added to the house where a deck had been removed.  Additionally the new boards had to be cut to fit into stone steps of a new patio.  Jeffrey's work was excellent.  The boards fit tightly against the patio and look like they have always been there.
