Fence Company reviews in Wheat Ridge

  • Buyer beware! AT came promptly, did what I requested and cleaned up after themselves. That being said, READ YOUR CONTRACT! about damage they cause during installation. My husband specifically pointed out to them where the sprinkler lines were, but wasn't sure he was 'understood' at the time due to language barriers. We found out after the fact that they damaged every line (4) in that area including the water pressure line. Thankfully our basement didn't flood but it did cost me $590 to have it repaired. The repair person said that AT had installed the post smack dab over the lines (they were embedded in concrete in some instances.) When I contacted AT they basically shrugged their shoulders and said - per the terms of your contract, blah, blah, blah. Stick with a contractor that not only does a good job, but shows a responsibility to his customer for damage they cause.

  • We called Ron on a Friday afternoon. He called back promptly and set an appointment for the next Saturday to come look at our job. His estimate was at the high end of the price range but he was the only contractor who called us back and he was so friendly, we decided to accept his bid. On the day of the job, he and his partner arrived on time, did the job exactly as we had discussed and cleaned up after themselves. We are very happy with the finished fence and would recommend Ron to our neighbors (In fact, we have)

  • Company showed up for the estimate and the work on-time, and completed the work on-time and within budget. They took down part of an old fence, and built a new fence to match a portion of an old fence. Clean-up could have been a little more timely and thorough.

  • On 4/2 I claimed Mountain High Fencing and Landscaping’s “special deal” on replacing fence posts. I both emailed and phoned the company that day. I got their voice mail and left a detailed message. After not hearing from them for more than 24 hrs. I phoned again on 4/3. This time I spoke with Gabe who agreed to meet with me between 2 and 3 that afternoon (4/3) and further agreed to call when in route. Having not heard from nor seen Gabe by 4p.m. I called again. This time Gabe agreed to an 8:30 a.m. meeting on 4/4 and, again, agreed to call in route. Again, no call and no sign of Gabe. Gabe has shown himself, and by extension Mountain High Fencing, to be irresponsible. If he can’t keep a meeting schedule, or at least notify me of why he can’t keep a meeting schedule than what can I expect of the job performance. Gabe and Mountain High Fencing get a big fat F.

  • I contacted Gabe from Mountian High Fencing. After having to give him my address 3 times (I should have seen this as a sign indicating how the process would go) he made it to my house. We discussed my fencing requirements. I specifically stated I needed 7' fences and we had discussion around this point; he stated he would have to use 8' slats and cut them down to size and it would result in a more expensive fence which I indicated I was fine with. After measuring, Gabe gave me a verbal estimatee before he left. He did qualify this by saying that a more detailed quote would follow if I wanted to move forward with him. The verbal for the 7' fence would be 'about $5100'. A couple days later I called Gabe stating I wanted to move forward. He committed to providing an estimate by a specific date (it was a date he gave me...I didn't push for it). He failed to provide the quite on that date. The following Monday morning I called him asking for the quote. He told me he was sorry and told me he would have it to me by the end of the day. Again, his commitment...not a date I pushed for. He didn't meet this commitment either. I called him the next morning and he again apologized and said he would have it to me that morning. I got it that evening. He seems to have a habit of making commitments and not following through. The quote he finally did deliver (after missing 3 commitments) was for a 6' fence. While the price in this quote include special locks, the amount was more $500 more than the verbal estimate AND it was for a 6' fence instead of the 7' fence we discussed. No doubt a revised 7' fence quote would have been significantly more. After finally receiving the quote, Gabe first told me we had a discussion about permits for a taller fence and that is why he didnt quote for what I specifically wanted. However, this is incorrect. Not only did he not mention a permit while he was at my house but he definitely left with the understanding that I wanted a 7' fence. I understand permit requirements, but that is completely irrelevant in terms of him quoting the build I asked for. It also doesn't explain how a shorter fence with cheaper materials was quoted for MORE than the taller fence which required 8' rather than 6' slats. After making the excuse about permits and how that justified this price juggling, he then stated if I included this information in a review that he would insist none of the original requirements were true and that the quote was for different specs than what was discussed. He tried to suggest that having the number of positive ratings means that my experience was misinterpreted. He failed to recognize that nearly 10% of his reviews were F's. They may be able to build a fence just fine. Unfortunately, before you get to that point it is necessary to deal with their disorganization, failed commitments and quites that are based on someone else's requirements rather than the specs we discussed. He seems the type that will argue the validity of anything I've stated here, but I simply have no reason to be deceptive. The other F's also support this. May people just choose to work with this ineptitude.

  • I made an appointment for Premier to come to my home and provide an estimate to rebuild our fence. I adjusted my work responsibilities to accommodate their availability and they never showed up. I called 30 minutes after they were scheduled to arrive and left a message giving them an opportunity to make good on the appointment and still have not heard back as of the next day.

  • At first everything went great. Adam supplied a great design, his crew was outstanding and worked very hard. After the job was completed there were a few items that needed fixing, specifically adjusting sprinkler heads as they were (still are) spraying the new fence. Initially the emails I sent requesting that they be adjusted were returned with "Adam (owner) adjusted them personally so they are good" except for the fact I was watching it happen. It took multiple emails before a response, until Adam finally said he was working on getting someone out there. About a week later I noticed a void in the sod and discovered that the line was leaking, it took a few days for him to get someone out to fix the problem. I was never notified that the line was fixed so after a six days with no water on new sod I turned the system back on. 10 days after I initially found the leak I noticed it was still very bad. Now that the line has been fixed the pressure is higher than it was initially and the fence is again getting drenched, no one bothered to do a quality control check and ensure everything was in working order. At this point I am over working with this company and I'll fix it myself, however nothing was left for me to make proper adjustments nor did anyone ever walk me through the sprinkler system. Above it all when I received my Job Maintenance PDF it details how if you leave positive reviews they'll give you $25 here, $50 there and so on. Highly questionable company if they have to pay consumers for positive reviews, had I know that prior to hiring them I would have gone with a different company.

  • Gabe and Steve were very responsive and friendly. There were some unexpected issues with putting up a new fence and removing the old (had to remove a tree that was on the property line), and their team reviewed all possible solutions and provided me with a very fair price for the tree removal.

  • Absolutely terrible experience at Rocky Mountain Forrest Products in Wheat Ridge, CO.  These guys are awful to deal with, sell a sub-par product, and have an even worse return policy.  Here is why…
I decided to buy lumber from them for a small fence project…. 30ft of 6ft privacy cedar with a gate (posts, rails and pickets, cement).  They advertise on Craigslist that they have the cheapest cedar prices in Denver, but here’s the catch…
Apparently they sell 5 grades of cedar products for fences (Utility, Rustic, Standard, Quality and Premium).  The prices they advertise are for the lowest grade product and didn’t even have any available at time of purchase.  They even told me they wouldn’t recommend using it, it very poor quality.  So why even advertise for it?  They convinced me that that a higher grade product would be much better quality anyway and would be far superior to anything Home Depot sells.  OK, since I was already there I decided to go ahead and buy from them, even though prices were now more expensive that Home Depot and Lowes.  I try to give some of my business to smaller/local stores when I can.
They have you pull around to the back and have guys to load everything for you.  This is nice at the time, but you have no control over the selection of the lumber they give you.  Also, they were out of the cement I just purchased, so I had to go back into the office and spend another 20 mins waiting for them to figure out how to refund me from a petty cash drawer.
I started the fence a few days later and when I got around to checking out the lumber and selecting high quality pieces to use for the gate post and gate itself.  I was very disappointed to say the least.  I built fences/decks for 2 years while I was in college and have never seen cedar this consistently bad…
6ft Premium Pickets – I bought 55 pickets and 20 of them were either, cracked at the top or bottom, milled poorly with uneven sides, had soft/rotted spots, or were much thinner than the rest.
Standard 2x4 Rails – I bought 12 rails and 5 of them were either, cracked at the top or bottom, had splits down the middle, had soft/rotted spots, or large knots/chunks out of them (some nearly half the width of the 2x4.
Standard 4x4 Posts – I bought 5 posts and 3 of them had deep cracks running down them.
They are closed in the evenings after 5:30, Saturday after noon, and Sundays… basically the only times I had to build the fence.  So I used the products I could get away with using and then went to good ole Home Depot to buy the remaining lumber needed to finish.
When I took the lumber back to attempt to return it, they looked at me like I was crazy.  The manager (I’m guessing) took my receipt out of my hand and rudely circled a return policy on the receipt, and said “There is nothing we can do for you.  Read the return policy.”
I said, “I’m not trying to return these because I made a mistake and bought too many, I cannot use them, they are defective and useless.  Come take a look at them.”  They must get this a lot because he got very defensive and basically told me tough luck, I don’t care, stop bothering me!
Apparently they ONLY return their premium grade products and only refunded me for the pickets, not the rails or posts which were still supposed to be a mid-high grade product.
On top of all of that, I am not even convinced that I was given the grade/quality product I paid for.  As sketchy as these guys were I would not be surprised if I paid for Standard or Premium lumber and received something lower.  There is no way to know.  What I do know is that I will never use them in the future or recommend them to anyone else.  Just happy it was such a small project and I wasn’t stuck with $1000’s in unusable lumber.
    You’ve been warned…
