She is very thorough, very pleasant and accurate in terms of her prescriptions. I have been using her for close to 30 years now.

    Klair, Dr. Virginia A.
Dr, Klairs office staff are less than friendly. But she makes up for it in her care and attitude. I just wish she could have staff that are more "people" friendly... they are almost rude!

    Ehrlich, Dr. Matthew
I first made an appointment with Vail Vision to do my annual eye exam and I was immediately turned off by all of the doctors and the entire practice. They were VERY pushy, uninformed, relied on technology and not actual skills or knowledge to perform the appointment - I was incredibly unhappy with my experience there, and wanted to go somewhere that actually knew what they were doing. After talking to some long time locals, they recommended Eye Center of the Rockies, which, even though it was a further drive (Eagle instead of Edwards), it was absolutely worth it. Eye Center of the Rockies has been accommodating to my schedule (early morning appointments so I don't miss too much work, and appointments within a few days of me calling), communicate well and professionally, know what they are doing in the practice - none of which I can say the same for Vail Vision in Edwards. If you live in the Vail Valley, do not go to Vail Vision! It is a huge waste of time and money, and the people working there are unhelpful, pushy and will not provide you with the proper care/service you need for your eyes. Instead, go to Eye Center of the Rockies - it may be a slightly longer drive but trust me, it is worth it.

They will also be handling my preoperative and postoperative for my LASIK surgery. I will be doing LASIK this coming summer. We've been going for 5 years now. It's a great service. They're very efficient. They make sure that anything you order, your glasses and your contacts are received when they're supposed to be received. They let you know. They notify you by phone and by email, in all the ways that you ask.

    Ballantyne, Dr. Jordan B.
Dr. Ballantyne is an independent optometrist who works out of the La Junta Walmart. Before seeing Dr. Ballantyne, I had been going to an eye doctor in La Junta for the past 3.5 years. My last exam with the previous doctor had been in January 2013 and I was never happy with my prescription, feeling I couldn't see as well as I thought I should. Dr. Ballantyne came highly recommended by a couple of co-workers, so I decided to get my eyes examined by him. He was patient, very thorough, and had a nice and easy "bedside" manner. During the exam he noticed the peripheral vision in one eye was not as it should be.  When he dilated my eyes, he noticed a dark spot in one eye that he believed was a problem with my retina.  He sent a photo of my eye to a specialist in Pueblo to get his opinion and I was told I should make an appointment with him. Long story short, I had a partially detached retina (25%) which required surgery. He said this had been going on for at least a year or two, but had gone undetected by my first eye doctor even though s/he had dilated my eyes on every visit. I credit Dr. Ballantyne's careful examination (he takes whatever time is needed to get it right) and overall professionalism in catching this problem as I was experiencing no outward symptoms that would indicate the problem.  I highly recommend him!  And his office person is great as well!
