    In March 2013, I paid Herb Mills $2,254.52 to install central AC in my mobile home. Based on his calculations of my home���s duct size, he recommended and installed a Coleman 2.5 ton condenser and coil. Although other bidders had specifically stated that the AC unit should be installed toward the center of my home for even cooling, he disagreed and installed the unit at the east end. The AC successfully cools only two rooms on the east end of my home but does not cool the west end at all, such that the way he installed it renders it unfit for its intended purposes. When I called Mr. Mills to discuss problem and ask him to move it to the center, he gave me some nonsensical technical explanation as to why that could not possibly be the problem and unequivocally stated that he I had a duct problem, specifically a "balancing issue" with the furnace and advised me to call either Coolings or Snipps, two of his HVAC competitors. When I asked why he would refer me to two of his competitors, he claimed that he did not want to work with me because I had lied to him in 2013 when I told him that I had left two messages on his answering machine that went unanswered, which I did. I can imagine no motive whatsoever for lying about having left messages and find his excuse petty. Whether he wanted to work with me or not was beside the point. I paid him to install the AC and it does not fulfill its intended purposes. He claimed that I did not pay him to service my duct work and advised me to sue him. If adequate duct work is a necessary condition for effective AC, then that was necessarily implicit in our contract. Based on our conversation, it was clear that he knew at the time of installation that my existing duct work was insufficient. So, I am out not only the $2,254.52 but also approximately $1,000.00 that I paid an electrician to wire for the AC. Based on this and my experience with him at time of installation, I believe his problem is with my ethnicity. Even though his contract called for the total in full upon completion, he demanded full payment prior to completion. When I pointed out the inconsistency of payment prior to completion and the terms of the contract, he said, ���I knew I was going to have problems��� and threatened to remove the AC unit. We finally settled on payment of all but $500 until completion.

    They did a great job.  They were professional.  They showed up on time.  They did not try to sell me any other parts that I did not need.  They gave maintenance instructions.  A lot of companies don’t do this stuff.  They said that it was a good unit and they suspected that it was the control board and so they replaced it.  I don’t have anything for them to improve on.  Actually, everything went great.

    Phillip gave me a great price to take down 2 trees (1 lg, 1 med) and trim another large tree. Work was done in 2 days, over the course of 3 days. He still needs to return to finish off a tall stump - and the initial work was done 3 weeks ago. His crew worked all day, not even sure if anyone took a lunch break. The trimmed tree looks okay, but not great. We'll see how it looks once it leafs out and grows over the season.

    We have used Keenan's Plumbing and Heating for 10 years. They have installed and maintained both our home and office heating systems. In the past they have been professional and fair. My last experience was neither professional or fair. Our heater motor failed and my husband called Keenan's to see if they had one in stock. The tech told him they did not, but could order one. They ordered the motor and we picked it up and installed it. The price we paid for this motor was $50 more than what we could order it online (including shipping), but we felt it was supporting local business and was worth it. The next week I receive an invoice for $70.50 for "overtime labor" for the tech looking up the part availability. I called Terry, the service manager and left a message explaining we had purchased the part from them at retail with their mark-up and didn't feel it was fair to charge for 30 min. of labor on a part we bought and the customer history we have with them. He returned by call with a message to call him. I place two additional calls and got NO responses. I find it hard to believe in this economy that a company would ignore repeated calls from an established customer. Last week I received a second invoice for the $70.50 along with a finance charge. I paid the original invoice and enclosed a letter explaining again how we felt. Sadly, no call from Terry. When I balanced my account today I see they cashed the check. It seems Keenan's has all the business they need. Our 10 year history of business and thousands of dollars spent was worth $70.50 to them and no time to return our calls :(
