    Marilyn Adler MD
I was referred to Dr. Adler from another mental health provider. I was is pretty bad shape when I came to my first appointment. Over several months, she has provided excellent therapy and I am now able to go about my life in a normal way. Before seeing her, I didn't think that was even possible. She has also made herself available to me between scheduled visits when I needed help.

He's been treating me for 3 years. We've tried all kinds of medications & combinations & have found something that works for me. I like him because he's very personable & easy to laugh with. He does what he's supposed to do.

    Smythe, Dr. Stephanie
I've been seeing her for five years. I've stayed with her because I've seen progress. She's body oriented. She works with the body as well as talk therapy. Her medical background is helpful. She's also into humanistic psychology. She doesn't mind communicating between sessions by email. Her communication with me is excellent.

On June 9, 2011, I sustained a freak injury while detailing/cleaning the inside of my car resulting in the paralysis of my R hand.  I immediately consulted my PCP the following day and after her evaluation, she recommended me to see a neurologist for further evaluations which would provide a complete and accurate diagnosis.  She originally wanted me to see a specific neurologist, but he was unavailable for the next 2 weeks.  I, therefore, did research of my own through Angie's List for neurology health care providers, and Dr. Thomas M. Rampy was listed but with no reports filled out on him as yet.  His office is located in Louisville, CO, only 20 miles away from my home in Longmont, CO.  I called his office for availability, and he could see me within 10 days of injury, so I asked my PCP for a referral to see him for evaluation.  Because I am a health care provider too (RN/BSN), I must admit, that  Dr. Rampy's credentials are most impressive, that being a M.D. with his speciality in neurology, as well as a PhD in the study of neurology.
My initial visit was to obtain the usual medical/surgical/family history, as well as a comprehensive neurological exam.  After his very thorough examination, he discussed openly with me, his recommendations for specific tests and why he thought that they were necessary; i.e. first, being a MRI of the brain to rule out a stroke; then if negative, a MRI of the cervical spine to rule out the possibility of a pinched nerve and/or herniated disc, and lastly, the EMG with nerve conduction studies to definitively diagnose which nerve(s) were injured, thereby determining which course of action to proceed with (i.e. occupational/physical therapy), along with a prognosis of outcome (how long would it take to heal).
The first two MRI's were found to be negative within one week.  However, I had to wait an addtional 3.5 weeks before he could perform the EMG with nerve conduction studies, due to his vacation schedule as well as his previously booked patients ahead of me...this was the most frustrating time of my diagnosis...the wait!   His secretary/assistant was nice enough to offer if anyone of the patients cancelled before me, that she would notify me of that availability, but no such luck.  During this wait, I worked with my PCP and her occupational therapist, providing braces as well as mobility and strengthening exercises for my R hand and R wrist.
Finally, the day for the EMG came!  Dr. Rampy explained specifically what he would be doing and why.  The testing was slightly painful as he had previously described because of using needles in specific nerve roots, thereby, finding out which nerve(s) were involved.  I do have to give him extra credit, because when he was not satisfied with the specific results obtained using the "standard" nerve roots, he consulted a specialized book on more definitive tests required which did result in a complete final diagnosis.  After the EMG was completed, he sat down with me and explained the results of the tests as well as the most likely prognosis.  His recommendation to continue with occupational/physical therapy was noted, but he could not predict how long a recovery period it would take.  Then he released me back to the care of my PCP for further follow-up care.
I did rate him overall with an "A", because of his determination and extra effort used to get the correct and complete final diagnosis.  He did explain things to me thoroughly, encouraged as well as answered my questions, and treated me with respect as an individual patient...not talking down to me but rather, educating me along the way.
Thank you, Dr. Rampy, for being so thorough as well as persistent in the search for my accurate final diagnosis.

The treatment he gave me was insufficient and after the MRI, Dr. Rampy simply referred me out to another Dr.  While it was a good interaction, I was handed a script and handed off to another Dr.
