We adopted a dog, a Shepherd Rottweiler mix from 4 Paws 4 Life Dog Rescue.

Toni Barge is the director of this place. It cost us $200 for the adoption but that is because she had 10 puppies and all had to be spayed, neutered and she had to be spayed neutered. All her puppies were adopted within a few hours. They just screen people as much as they can, one cannot tell but just to see if they would provide a good home since they don’t want to get the dogs back. They would like to match the dogs up with the people and they are really good in getting dogs and cats, mostly it is the small dogs and they are also good in getting them really good homes. They have a good turn over. They have people to go around the high kill shelters and find out which dogs are going to get victimized rather quickly like they go down to New Mexico and get a lot of dogs out of reservation and they are really great dogs but they are not spayed or neutered and they are not well fed but they are not miss treated or anything. So they bring them up here and get them groomed. They work with all the veterinarians in that area and get discounts on getting them spayed and neutered and discounts on shots. They take real good care of the dogs. People get all these puppies and a year later they are not that cute anymore. Price wise some people think it is a little high but it is all voluntary and they have expenses. All animal shelters like the one here in Denver keep the dog only for two or three weeks and if they don’t get adopted they put them down and the better shelters, it does not fit in everybody’s budget so these small town with shelters, they just can’t afford to keep the dogs for very long. I used to go to these shelters and I used wonder how I could do this to myself. It is pitiful; the shelters around here are full.
