I had Miles introduce me to the world of solar. He helped me, and laid out all information clearly on workmanship warranty and product warranties. If anyone is looking to install a solar panel system, please contact him. He is an honest man and gets the job done. Send him an email or call. He has been very responsive to all my questions and initial concerns.

I have a solar panel on my roof. He came and repaired the siding around my solar panel that was loose. He didn’t charge me anything in hopes I would hire him for a replacement solar system. He was really good and on top of it.

    Photon Brothers Inc
The proposal was through and complete and competively priced with another vendor. The panels they provide are from Sunpower which is one of the oldest and most respected manufacturer. They have a very high efficiency rating which means more power from the same size of a competitor. They offered multiple options for payment and we chose to pay cash and file for a rebate and took the federal tax credit of 30% of the installed system.
The installation went without a single incident and the only disappointment was that Xcel only hooks up a certain number of residential installs per quarter. We had to wait about 2 months for them to finish the connection. We are now generating over 80% of our normal use and getting rebate checks monthly from Xcel.
I recommend this company without reservation.

    Golden Solar
We first contacted Golden Solar in September 2012.  They did ALL the paperwork, inspections, approvals (except for our HOA), contacted Xcel and even did the Tax Forms.  The entire staff at Golden Solar (from the office staff to the guys that came out to the house) were amazing, capable, friendly and very nice people.  Billy, Austin, Shawn, Seth and Luke were a pleasure to have in and out of my home.  They kept us informed of every step of the process and were always accessible.  They needed to do work in the attic and were very careful of the insulation and cleaned up any mess.  The panels went up in November and we went live on December 28, 2012.  Although it has been winter and cloudy, we have already had great results!  Xcel actually sent us a check.  My husband and I have always been very interested in solar and it was kind of a dream of ours to go Solar.  This wonderful company made that happen.  The price of $33,456.00 is before the tax deduction we will recieve.  With the cost of energy and what it may be in the future...we all should be producting our own.
    Go Solar!

    Golden Solar
They came out and installed the system (Shawn, Luke and Kaleb).  Very thorough and professional. It took abut 4 days on-site to install the system (pretty good sized system for a residence) and do the electrical work requested.  We did grill burgers for their lunch one day (you should always give a few perks to people that are on-site for multiple days).  They kept the work areas clean and explained what they were doing (I ask a lot of questions).  The system came with an Envoy monitoring system to allow the homeowner to access the Internet and monitor their system's production.  If I had any suggestions for improvement is that it would have been really nice to get something that lays out everything about installation, equipment, monitoring, the stepwise process, etc.   I like to learn about the system in as much detail as possible (maybe others do not).  I was somewhat unclear about what the utility company (Xcel Energy) would be doing and how each of the new meters worked (one measure production for Xcel and the other is a net meter that registers energy use (as is used for an electric bill).  I know that they probably rolled their eyes a few times as I emailed questions, but they always got back to me.  I guess I was smart to grill burgers for them!  Even in winter, the solar panels are producing better than I had expected this time of year.  Before the installation, we had found hail damage on the roof, so we had impact resistant shingles installed.  The insurance discount for these shingles offset much of the increase in homeowners insurance for the solar panels.  I would recommend purchasing a system (30% direct tax credit) rather than leasing one (lots of downsides here).  I would also recommend Golden Solar.  I like using a smaller business where you get to know the people you are dealing with (as long as they have good reviews).

    DXR Construction & Roofing
We were told by our air conditioning person that we had wind damage to our roof, and he recommended we contact Albert Jaramillo (djunclealbert@cox.net) at DXR Construction/Roofing who promptly came to the house to take a look.  Albert told us that we most likely would get a whole new roof because of the extent of the damage.  We filed a claim with State Farm and their adjustor said that we could have 1/2 of a roof.  Well, Albert said he didn't think the adjustor was being fair, so at his urging we went back to State Farm and requested that the supervisor come and look at the roof.  In the meantime, we called another roofing company that our State Farm agent said had done some work for him, and that company also said we should have gotten a whole roof.  Albert then emailed pictures of our roof to the State Farm supervisor and that person finally agreed to meet with Albert again on the roof to review the situation.  Albert then met with the State Farm adjustor's supervisor and they went over the roof again, and then State Farm said we could have a whole new roof.  If Albert had not persisted we would never have gotten the deal we did.  In addition, Albert waived our $1,000 deductible and gave us the two solar tubes mentioned above at no cost...no installation cost either.  He really made our day and their work was very good.  I would use him again.

    Independent Power Systems - Colorado
The project went extremely well from the initial sales presentation to the delivery of three-ring binder full of information about the system.  Company's very experienced crew installed all the racking, microinverters, panels, and animal guard in less than a day.  The company's in-house electrician and his helper took a day and a half to install all the wiring, breakers, disconnects, and meter boxes.  The utility company (Excel Energy) took a week to come out and install their meters.

All the work was very neatly done.  The system has been up and running now for over two months and, except for extended periods of snow cover during much of December, has been performing better than expected.  Unlike other companies that presented proposals, Independent Power Systems provided NREL calculations supporting their proposed system size.

I chose two options that increased the cost of the system, but increased efficiency, reliability, and appearance.  The system has SunPower panels and Enphase microinverters.  The more efficient SunPower panels result in a small footprint and thus a much better fit on the roof.  The microinverters are more efficient and reliable than one large "string inverter" that would be in the way and have to be replaced in 10 to 15 years at a cost of about $2,500.  As the solar panels are on the front of the house, appearance is important.

    RGS Energy
The salesman did not show for our first appointment.  He told me he thought it was for the next week.  But he was able to come out to my house the next day.  His proposal, which he emailed to me a few days later, was for a  smaller system than the others I received, yet its estimated electricity production was greater than the others.  I could not reconcile his proposed system's productivity to  PV Watts, an Internet-based calculator provided by the National Renewable Energy Labs.  The company I eventually chose to install my system provided a PV Watts  calculation with their proposal.  Even though I had asked for an animal guard around the solar array, he did not include one in his proposal.  I feel as though Real Goods Solar seeks to be the low  bidder.

The salesman showed up for our appointment with a fully prepared and priced proposal.  After I obtained other proposals, I realized REC Solar's proposed system was significantly larger than the others, as the salesman had compensated for shading from a large tree he saw on Google Earth.  This tree had been cut down, but the salesman didn't bother to redo his proposal to show a smaller and less expensive system.  Of all the proposals I obtained, this was the only one that was prepared sight unseen.

    Bill Griggs Plumbing
Bill Griggs Plumbing came onto the job with the necessary knowledge to properly analyze options and recommend the best solution, in this case the Rinnai. Bill Griggs Plumbing provided an accurate quote, the ability to tweak, and signoff before the work started. He assisted in cleaning the mess the old tank water heater made. He professionally and fairly handled my change in scope of work in the midst of project. The work was delivered on-time, with minimal disruption and mess and at the quoted price. What I have found to be unique about Bill Griggs Plumbing is that in working with Bill Griggs, I, my wife and children always feel completely comfortable with Bill in the house.
